Baby Chimp Rescue
Jenny and Jim Desmond are parents to an unusual and very large family - over twenty orphaned baby chimpanzees. Their home in Liberia is rapidly becoming too small for this rambunctious troop of animals, so they’re building a sanctuary in the forest. But before the babies can move out, they need to learn how to live like wild chimps. They need to attend a baby chimp school.
Welcome to BBC EARTH! The world is an amazing place full of stories, beauty and natural wonder. Here you'll find 50 years worth of entertaining and thought-provoking natural history content. Dramatic, rare, and exclusive, nature doesn't get more exciting than this.

JustMe215 was responding to the fact that POOP POP made a confusing spelling error by using a word that sounds audibly similar but is technically out of place. 'Than' is a word to denote comparison, and 'Then' is a word signifying an upcoming event. This would be like saying "I will cut down that 'You' tree" when referring to the felling of a 'Yew' tree. Someone may, in this case, think that they are being called a tree, and subsequently feel threatened with the axe that the first person may be holding. The 'woooooosh/' in this case, should be directed at you. :)

It's a staple of most nurseries/kindergartens and most adults forget about it entirely and experience it again when they enter the role and it's essentially new for them again too. • @@carnagekasady1743 Well, that's not quite accurate. It would be more true to say that we're equivalently related to all members of the genus Pan, namely Chimps and Bonobos, since for both species, there would be the same common ancestor. To put this another way: Imagine that each species is an individual. You are Homo Sapiens. The other members of the genus Homo (like Homo Habilus or Homo Erectus) are your siblings. Your parents would be the common ancestor for the genus Homo. Then imagine that your uncle is the common ancestor for the genus Pan. His two kids (your cousins, in this analogy) would be the Chimps and Bonobos. Your grandparents would be the most recent common ancestor between the two genuses. For both chimps and bonobos, the most recent common ancestor with humans is the same. Just like you wouldn't say that one cousin is more related to you than another cousin (in both cases they are the children of your uncle), its also not quite accurate to say that Bonobos are more closely related to us than Chimps. Now, some instead can go counting the number of overlapping base pairs, or overlapping genes and so forth, and by this metric Bonobos do share marginally more base pairs with us than Chimps (though the difference is minuscule), but this doesn't mean that the Bonobos are more related to us than the Chimps are, they are both equally related to us.

They humanize the monkeys a lot and enjoy them as a pet more than needed which includes emotional and physical dependency. Other rescue centers seems to focus a lot more on rehabilitation and connecting the monkeys to each other instead of humans.

    • Not gunna happen. That why I can’t stand these sort of channels. They only show you the good side of these animals. Adult chimps are violent and ruthless. They will tear each other’s limbs off for no reason.

    • Feet Inspector "These sort of channel"? Pretty sure at least one of the BBC channels has a clip showing chimpanzees hunting colobus monkeys and another one with cannibalism.

      @aspergillusoryzae3722@aspergillusoryzae37224 жыл бұрын
    • Feet Inspector Also, I'm skeptical that they tear limbs off for no reason. It could be war/conflict between or within troops. They're social animals, it would be disadvantageous for the species to kill each other at complete random.

    @micheall1127@micheall11274 жыл бұрын
    • According to Latoya Jackson, MJ used to beat him and Bubbles actually tried to commit suicide at one point. Then he got relocated to a monkey sanctuary in Florida. I think he’s still alive and hopefully happier than when he lived at Neverland.
