Baby Chimp Rescue
Jenny and Jim Desmond are parents to an unusual and very large family - over twenty orphaned baby chimpanzees. Their home in Liberia is rapidly becoming too small for this rambunctious troop of animals, so they’re building a sanctuary in the forest. But before the babies can move out, they need to learn how to live like wild chimps. They need to attend a baby chimp school.

@@terrifficpilot634 'woooooosh/' being used incorrectly. JustMe215 was responding to the fact that POOP POP made a confusing spelling error by using a word that sounds audibly similar but is technically out of place. 'Than' is a word to denote comparison, and 'Then' is a word signifying an upcoming event. This would be like saying "I will cut down that 'You' tree" when referring to the felling of a 'Yew' tree. Someone may, in this case, think that they are being called a tree, and subsequently feel threatened with the axe that the first person may be holding. The 'woooooosh/' in this case, should be directed at you. :)

Thanks for the chuckle, Bambi. I never thought of that but you're right. Cheers.
Yes, Uji Sungwoon, I have seen those horrible situations but I venture to say that the chimps were in captivity and not in the wild where they're supposed to be. Thanks for your comment, cheers.

Awww. Then he just ran away. 🤭😆 . They are super adorable. I'm with you. How could evil humans even think to hurt them!!!😔
A Vigil totally! it hurts already just thinking some of their parents were probably already being peached somewhere in the jungle... 😢
Star Atlas They’ve been eaten by humans... that’s why the little chimps are orphNs
Star Atlas agreed so stop consuming animal products! It’s the same thing but worse!
A Vigil they’re not evil, they’re hurt and afraid and ignorant like everyone who consumes animal products :(
I work in a Kindergarden and can testify, thats exactly how a human child would play and interact with bubbles. Really amazing to see the similarities among species.
I'd love to see how baby chimps react to corn starch gloop. It's a staple of most nurseries/kindergartens and most adults forget about it entirely and experience it again when they enter the role and it's essentially new for them again too. I remember playing with it for hours with my class then spent lunchtime on wikipedia because my brain was worried that liquids and solids were a thing at the same time.
Exactly my thought ! We’re so similar…Nature is fascinating
Chimps are basically toddlers at any age.
0:57 is the cutest thing ever
It’s crazy to see how closely humans are related to chimps
Even Closer to bonobos
and bananas cause we share like half of our dna with them
@@Jason-hz6cm yes
@@carnagekasady1743 Well, that's not quite accurate. It would be more true to say that we're equivalently related to all members of the genus Pan, namely Chimps and Bonobos, since for both species, there would be the same common ancestor. To put this another way: Imagine that each species is an individual. You are Homo Sapiens. The other members of the genus Homo (like Homo Habilus or Homo Erectus) are your siblings. Your parents would be the common ancestor for the genus Homo. Then imagine that your uncle is the common ancestor for the genus Pan. His two kids (your cousins, in this analogy) would be the Chimps and Bonobos. Your grandparents would be the most recent common ancestor between the two genuses. For both chimps and bonobos, the most recent common ancestor with humans is the same. Just like you wouldn't say that one cousin is more related to you than another cousin (in both cases they are the children of your uncle), its also not quite accurate to say that Bonobos are more closely related to us than Chimps. Now, some instead can go counting the number of overlapping base pairs, or overlapping genes and so forth, and by this metric Bonobos do share marginally more base pairs with us than Chimps (though the difference is minuscule), but this doesn't mean that the Bonobos are more related to us than the Chimps are, they are both equally related to us.
@@Jason-hz6cm it's not like we and banana are related
They act like human babies and it's funny to see chimpanzee babies discovering new things

@@ashleylopez3397 no we exist from a common ancestor with chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans and gibbons
@@ashleylopez3397 I agree. Humans are most like chimpanzees or vice versa. The DNA is 98.7% identical for both. That's why their baby behavior is so interesting and cute to watch and follow.

Chimps are my favorite and the babies are sooo cute, this would be my dream job!
These animals are SO smart omg, I can't help but feel weird thinking about how we humans are so similar to them. They're like humans minus the influence of society/culture (no language, expected behaviour, expected roles, a deep level of consciousness, etc.)
Well they are scientificaly classified as "capable of culture" and basicaly develope their own...they also have about the human communication skills of a young child (though with lexigrams or gestures because of the way their throat is shaped) and were shown to plan for the Future...they are actually pretty similar to us
The "animals "have 98.8%human DNA. And, when treated correctly, such sweethearts.

Charming Diva indeed, now still gotta make pigs, cows, sheep, chickens, etc safe from human predators too!
Oshe Shango the word is enslaved, and they could, and that’s not what symbiotic means, it means they help each other live, they help each other... which is obviously not the case here! Humans don’t live WITH the other animals and the environment, they live OFF it and are in a self-made conscious cycle of destroying and running away.
Herta Schneider technically, livestock is encouraged to reproduce so maybe its symbiotic? we have definitely helped their numbers

I think what this couple does for these chimp's is awesome baby chimps are very adorable and intelligent
In the forest, moms teach them how to get food. In the rescue center, people teach them how to do household chores and drink sulfur. 😂😂😂
Yea... I've watched multiple videos of this particular rescue center and it's different from all the others. They humanize the monkeys a lot and enjoy them as a pet more than needed which includes emotional and physical dependency. Other rescue centers seems to focus a lot more on rehabilitation and connecting the monkeys to each other instead of humans.
Jocelyn K Agreed
"Yea, that's it...Oh, that feels good. A little higher...Yea. A bit to the right now. You missed a spot. Better start over. Can ya get some more bubbly soap on that scrub brush...? Another bucket of Hot water in this tub maybe...? That's Superb...I will love you Forever..."

Thank God for people like them.
I guess most humans would have realized what it feels like to be locked up during recent Corona virus outbreak many started protesting just because they needed a haircut. Please don't confine them to a zoo or to some place for your entertainment. Let them go back in forest. #LetThemBeFree

Not gunna happen. That why I can’t stand these sort of channels. They only show you the good side of these animals. Adult chimps are violent and ruthless. They will tear each other’s limbs off for no reason.
Feet Inspector "These sort of channel"? Pretty sure at least one of the BBC channels has a clip showing chimpanzees hunting colobus monkeys and another one with cannibalism.
Feet Inspector Also, I'm skeptical that they tear limbs off for no reason. It could be war/conflict between or within troops. They're social animals, it would be disadvantageous for the species to kill each other at complete random.

That's so sad about their mothers.
Whay ever happened to "Bubbles" the chimp?
According to Latoya Jackson, MJ used to beat him and Bubbles actually tried to commit suicide at one point. Then he got relocated to a monkey sanctuary in Florida. I think he’s still alive and hopefully happier than when he lived at Neverland.
@@contactwide and you know that? I think Jackson had to give him away because he was to old someday and could get dangerous. Otherwise bubbles would have been dead before if jackson didn't saved him from a labor...
@@contactwide Why Michael Jackson beat a chimp???? I thought he was deaad.......?
Bubbles is in a primate sanctuary in Florida. Chimpanzees get far too strong, temperamental and dangerous to handle once they reach adolescence.
Bubbles was found dead 3 years ago in ape sanctuary in Cslifornia

Herta Schneider you know nothing about me andI prefer not to eat meat and IMO eating monkeys in particular is abhorrent
MadeintheImageofGod bush meat is popular in Africa. Even though it’s illegal. Read the captions the babies they rescue are usually because their mother’s wer killed for bushmeat
Omg .. they're so cute. It must be so fun that their eyes become so big
Thank you so much BBC 🐵❤😍🐒❤😍
Dislikers r not humans they need to be send to stay with this chimpanzees and learn
I disliked the video. This particular rescue center doesn't focus on rehabilitation enough. Other centers do a better job at teaching them wildlife skills and forming bonds between each other rather with humans. They treat them more as pets at this center.
How can I donate to them?
I'd recommend donating to an organization that focuses more on rehabilitation. This one in particular makes the monkeys quite dependent on humans.
I love them
