Oddly Satisfying 1966 Volkswagen Rescue | Relaxing Rebuild In Nature | RESTORED
On this episode of Restored, we dig into a 1966 Volkswagen Baja Beetle in hopes to seeing it on the road again. After finding this car abandoned in the woods with the engine completely dismantled inside the car, we decided what better thing to do than to try and put it together in the woods and drive it from its resting place. Rather than bringing you a video packed with music and dialogue, we give you an oddly satisfying experience of what it takes to bring this thing back to life. Showing you the step-by-step process, we've included all the natural sounds of nature and cut out all the extra hype and fluff to give you a everyday mechanic's point of view. So set back and enjoy this relaxing video as we show you what it takes to get this 1966 VW back on the road again with absolutely no talking - just working!

I sat here saying I have better things to do than sit for 47.14 minutes watching you put this engine together in a field. Well 47.14 minutes later, I'm in awe of what you guys do with this not loved old abandoned cars and trucks. I am a fan. Just incredible. Respect
Not loved because Hitler designed the damned thing!
I can watch Volkswagen rescues all day. The Volkswagen rescue you guys did that was parked in a old garage is what brought me to this channel.
I loved that one too
Felicitaciones! Ustedes son los masca clavos en esta área!
Nice job bringing the old bug back to life 😁. Love the scripture 🙏 verses as well. Thanks and God bless you and your family.
One of my favorite videos. These Wizards of Bogota lay hands on rust in the brush and out springs a running volkswagen. Lol, you guys are great! Thank you for the hundredth time for what you do and the message along with it.
I like it when you two guys talk about the car
This was SO COOL!! How AWESOME to bring that car back to life pretty much right where it was found! Very impressive! Looks very much like my first car...a ratty old Baja bug!! Great job!!
You gotta love the simplicity of the original VWs. I don't think there's another car you could have reassembled the engine to, out in the woods, while wallowing in the mud, like you did for this old car. I've rebuilt quite a few myself, and always loved them! Fahrvergnügen!
I loved this guys !! The down and dirty old school approach to getting a old car running again...when it was simple you guys did GREAT !! I remember theses old VW'S were all over when I was young ....you still see them just not like you used to. Thank you for bringing this one back to life !! 👍👍
A Volkswagon? And Lance and Wyatt? A shure thing! These men could get it running ,. No Sweat!
Begs the question.... why was the engine removed and totaly disassemble if it runs just fine? Loved the video. But did they take it alart before the started the video?
There are a lot of questions on here about this car as well. From the wheels to the interior.
Vídeo fake 😂😂😂😂 grama onde o carro estava ainda estava vida. Colocaram o vw a pouco tempo nesse local kkk
In my opinion, one of the best videos ever, you took a pile of parts and turned it into a motor and then put it in the VW and drove away, and all this in the woods with some handful of tools, that was great, thanks.
Spirituality and cars. I can think of no better way to enjoy 47 minutes
A great video again. Your videos are so educative to me. Not been a native English speaker, I like to hear you speak and interact. I love when Lance turns around the vehicle describing it. I love to learn about mechanics. I love to learn mechanical vocabulary and the name of the tools. I love to learn about Texas and Bogota. Much of this is lost in silent movies. If I could vote, I would say no more silent videos.
Never saw you men work on an engine in the wild like this. A testament to your varsity. Very interesting. Lance and Wyatt. Does not sound too bad either. If you purchased it. Definitely a good flip on Baja bug. That test drive you needed to clean windshield. Don’t know how you were seeing out it. Great job! Thanks for sharing! 💯👍👊
Best Mudd buggy ever made.
My mother used to say, "Two working well together can get more done than three." Really enjoyed watching father and son orchestrating the revival of the V-dub. Y'all knew what to do and no dialogue needed. Another compelling video that held my interest the entire time and had a satisfying conclusion. Watching you two "do your thing" is something I look forward to. Keep calm and carry on!
Most Excellent ! Love these silent movies. Not too insane, but still impressive. Happy Easter. He Is Risen!
He is risen indeed!
It's good to see another episode @RESTORED
Car old school is the best it is 58 years old hope it runs again good luck guys very good to see you two guys again
I was humbled to the ground, stripped, rendered to my bones, and left behind. From the dust he raised me. He gathered me back together. He lifted me up and restored my soul…. Psalm of the VW. Psalm of restoration ❤
I love to see your videos Lance
I saw Herbie the Love Bug at the theater when I was a kid and I have loved Bugs every since. This made me happy. (and yes, I believe they have feelings LOL)
Much rather hear you guys talking it puts some insite into a project. Plus gives a guide to try yourself and know what to do.
It's nice to see y'all still together after all this time still finding old cars and putting life back in them video was awesome 😊
This video was amazing! Thank you for resurrecting another vehicle!
Just love these Vee Dubs had a few over the years here in the UK (60's & 70's) Love them...Cheers guys. Great filming Christian. 👍👍
Yes you can put it back together you two guys work great together
Saludo desde Bogotá Colombia, los"escarabajos"son la versión de VW que me gusta, junto con los Karman Gia, buen trabajo...👌👏👍!
Always enjoy your content and this one was a throw back to the shade tree days, I really laughed at the improvised chain fall! Anyway, Thanks again and Blessings on you and the family....
There are few cars in this world that are more fun to drive and work on than an old Beetle. I love mine
Now that was quite an interesting and intriguing video! Great Job to everyone, thank you all for some wonderful content!
I don't think these guys do this that often🙂...thank you for being there
I really appreciate the work you guys do. It’s heart felt and I feel you guys are spreading gods work. I know I don’t know god like I once did, so you guys keep me in your prayers. I know you guys get a lot of comments on your channel. So just remember me. Keep up the good work. 🙏🏻
Absolutely love the silent series. Nothing against the gentlemen talking but the ambient sound is fantastic and far more realistic. It’s like they let me watch what they do. It’s without music that’s some are bound to dislike, or is too loud or too distracting. No jokes or one-liners or pontification , although your videos, thankfully are never that way. Well done! And your choice of project cars are always a treat. Thank you.
what a joy to watch and learn. I love the scripture you place at the bottom. Watching you do this, gives me hope to try my own repairs. I really love the quiet and the work you do. Thank you so much.
Great video! i love the nature sounds. Amazing all the parts were there, never seen an engine rebuilt while hanging in a tree, great idea. Best revival video i have seen . Thanks! Keep up the good work!
I remember going on a trip to Arizona in the early 1980s. These modified VWs were everywhere back then. You couldn't throw a rock without hitting one.
This is why older Volkswagens are great family project cars...one can literally put an engine together in a field and it runs great. Good job guys...happy Easter.
Thanks for blessing us with another great video!
TR, mega kudos! This has to be your coolest revival yet! Not only does it showcase your mechanical talents but also pays homage to the simplicity and resilience of the VW's design! My wife and I were both reminded of Woody Allen's movie sleeper where he discovered a 300 year old VW Bug in a cave and after a bit of fiddling had it driving and back on the road! I also love your no talk style videos! Great job guys and camera young lady!
Those nobbly tyres looked perfect !!
Will watch when not silent 😢
watched this and I must say was fun to watch even though I miss you guys talking. I have an old 65 1200 40hp I'm restoring right now and must say other than one blown piston looks in pretty good shape. Just buying the new cylinder and piston kit for the 77mm and some odds and ends will need to get it running. Saw a 66 bug for sale close by without an engine so they should mate up fine.
Hello guys. That bug is a great design of a versatile vehicle. That should still be available today! VW'S! "Salute!.
Had a 1965 VW baja (green) back in 1993 in MD. Sold it at a Bug Out car show in PA. 2015 saw a video for Fred Williams brother from Dirt Everyday in PA state he got a hold of it and go it running again. My baja was used for drag racing back in the 80s, had a type 4 motor in it and a half cage.
All I can say is best content on Utube, excellent talking or no talking. I do like when Lance explains what is happening. I love the scripture in this vid. 0:15 0:
THAT'S REALLY IMPRESSIVE! HOW YOU AND YOUR FATHER PUT A BUNCH OF LOOSE PARTS BACK TOGETHER AND GOT THE CAR TO START!😮😮- GREAT JOB, AND YOU DON'T IT ALL OUT SIDE IN THE MUD, AND I NEVER HEARD ONE SINGLE WORD !😮👍😀
Quite something all the parts were there, out in a muddy field. I love the scriptures. I hope Wyatt had a dry pair of socks. God bless you all 🇨🇦
I LOVE these silent videos. It's like ASMR. I like to hear all the little noises like the doors creaking or the tools turning.
Ur weird.
Me too….
PLEASE PLEASE add the narration back!!!!!!!
System p @@Tmrfe0962
Yeah I don't like the videos that play dumb music in the background.
This is about the craziest thing I have ever seen. Putting an engine back together in a field and driving off. Wander what the reason for tearing it apart in the first place? And all of it was there. Amazing!
Silence is Golden
Someone loved that Dub and had plans for it. I can just imagine "i'm going to rebuild the motor, and explore the woods..." Great to see it have some life left.
one of the best videos on youtube...
Unbelievable how beautiful the shape of a Volkswagen Beetle is. The shot at 6.26 shows the beetle with spreading wings.
Hello from Missouri video was good but different in it’s been very silent, but God works in mysterious ways you got the vehicle running like I knew you guys vwould God bless and love you guys.
there are some things in life that can never be proved and the Beetle is like that)) you did.... very satisfying)))) thank you
Yes!! I love it when you guys work on vws.
Cool! At least the engine was there. I was hoping for a rebuild rather than just a reassemble. Still pretty amazing though. I miss my '66.
Love watching yall! I live in Gladewater, Wife and I keep saying we gonna drive up on the bike and see yall sometime.Keep turning bro's ..
AWESOME! You guys are brilliant and an enthusiast Volkswagen Beetle Restorers! This is proven and tested that the Classic Technology is durable and practical way of transportation. Specifically All Volkswagen Oil-cooled Engine and others Classic Motorcycles brands like Royal Enfield and Harley Davidson Oil-cooled Engine. They are Timeless transportations, cars of all seasons and all generations. Brilliant Technology. No modern technology and computerize liquid-cooled cars today can easily fix like this. But they are proven and tested that after 5 years they are made for disposable use only. So commercialize, so expensive, very complicated technology and highly maintenance and the owners ended up to put on trash all their modern cars. So impractical technology wasting dollars! Cannot be restored! Volkwagen air-cooled engines especially all the Beetle are truly proven and tested!❤🎉😊
That was a fascinating job. I really like these silent versions. And what a great ending, Texas back roads and a thunderstorm! Perfect
As I'm silently rooting the 3 of you along, Great ending and here's my Head Nod.
I'm a truck driver I mostly listen to my pod cast while driving so when you don't talk it's hard to know what the video is about but ty for the content
You guys do it that best... and the added Scripture gives hope.. Bravo!
Nie no szacun dla was warunkach polowych udało wam się uruchomić tego biedaka super gratuluję wam i życzę więcej takich fajnych starych samochodów
Those wheels and A/T's give it a Type 87 vibe. I dig it. Really makes me miss the '74 Thing I had in high school.
Now that one was Great!! I enjoy working on Old Bug's!!
Very nice to see it run again very true car
I'm surveying in a nearby town and I went for lunch (closest thing in the area) and drove by and said to my coworker "I know those vehicles". Love that content man
30:42 Amen brothers.... In 1994 I use to own a 1965 VW Baja exactly like this one, even the gray primer. It even had duel glass-pack exhaust (1 on each side). This was the most fun I ever had working on a vehicle and driving.
The picture that u brought to us maybe a couple of minutes or an hour. But behind every minute u spend was years of experience n hard work in this industry. Oh! It has to be said that it was already a kind of art work! Keep it up with passion n all the best!!😎
I use to have a 66 Bug, until it was stolen. No this is not it. Thanks for bringing one back to life, great video!
The VW beetle baja are cool
Thanks for playing in the mud/Dad losing a shoe. To give us entertainment. I enjoy your vids, Thanks!🎉
Never realized how simple a VW motor is 😮 it's not much more than a Briggs and Stratton! 😮 You guys have taught me so much on every single episode! Whether it's how to rebuild a motor or how to keep going even when your shoe gets stuck in the mud😜😜, I learn something new every single episode 😂 Thank you guys for ALL YOU DO and GOD BLESS ❤️✌️🙏
I do believe it will run again very soon good job I give you two five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
You and your dad are true shade tree mechanics.
Impressionante oque vocês fizeram para este baja voltar a vida.. parabéns.. tenho um baja e adoro passear com ele 😊
thank you for the silent movie.
Молодцы ребята!
Can’t wait looks like a good video
I liked this one. Got lucky on all the parts for engine start. Nice revival!
Beautiful sound....that of a smooth running air cooled VW .
hi guys good ep for you to put the engine back together is a miracle it works god is on your side .
Hello there! It is so relaxing and fine to see you two working together. Not much talking, just get the work done. SUPER. Greetings from Norway, and a lucky owner of a citroen 2cv. My very first car was a -52 (?) Volkswagen. That was in 1967. First model with oval rear window.
You guys are sincerely awesome and I love watching the hard work you do and the cars are always interesting and fun! It's always great and sometimes a little nuts too which is what makes it better than some other channels. God bless you and your family as we are entering this season of troubles and danger! Lean on Jesus at ALL times and put your trust only and ALWAYS in Him!
I like all of your videos-talking, silent, cutting trees out of the swamp and doing what it takes to get them running again!
It is interesting to see the VW Bug with an offroad body kit, it reminded me of the 1950s-1960s VW Dune Buggy.
Don't be hating at least they can put it back together and get it running that takes dedication imo you go fellas always have anticipation waiting for another video keep them coming love it🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
I like VWs and love Baja Bugs if they're done right.
Dipstick is dry, check. Hang motor off tree, check. Torque bolts, 😂 that got me stiched with laughter Thanx, gr8 video 😊 All done before lunch, and they only started at 9 o'clock
Pretty much exactly how I got my 61 beetle. A friend rang me and said "there's a V-dub next door, he's got to get rid of it. If you can get it out you can have it. Engine is in the back seat." Except I just towed it home first, and found a good head in the boxes of bits the old man had collected over the years. Flogged it senseless for years bush bashing, and everyday commuting. Guy at work thought it was an auto because I would leave work facing uphill, hold it flat and then flat change into second, then third over the top. Had like a 10 mm venturi in the carb, Didn't make enough power to burn the clutch, didn't over rev during flat changing for the same reason, with relatively heavy flywheel. Just sounded like an auto. 65 mph in 3rd, 60 mph in 4th. Had almost 3/8 ring gaps when I finally swapped in a 1750. I then wore out third gear in 2 more gearboxes. So much torque so few revs, 5 mph to 65 mph faster than everyone, 83 mph topped out. Probably safer that way.
AMAZING! It doesn't even smoke! Really nice restore video guys!
It worked, long live America 😊
Awesome video. I recently moved to Tennessee and this video reminds me of the territory here. Very cool rescue, Blessings to you all
Well that was very entertaining! I enjoy rescues of all types, the silent treatment is strange prefer a bit of natter. Well done.
She's brought back to life. Ready for summer.
OMG!!!, It is like watching a hybrid program, THE BEST YOU DO IS WHEN YOU 2 TALK WITH YOUR CAMERA WOMAN DIPPING IN & OUT. PRICELESS AND ORIGINAL
Satisfying for sure, So Coool!! My first car was a 74 Bug...some good times ...would love to drive one again some day :]
Nice work as usual guys. Kinda enjoyed the zero narration thing...👍🏁
