She hiked the entire Appalachian trail with it, 7 months and 2200+miles. She whittled and carved along the way and prep ans spatula type items for meal prep. I also have his large carving axe and his small one. I've been following Max for 4+ years now. This new video is excellent. Can't wait to get my tools out sometime this week. I just pruned a red maple tree in the back yard. Yeeee Hawww Can't wait to go canoing with you sometime and hang by the fire and share some stories.

Honestly, there is so much work going into learning the skill, learning the video part, editing, buying cameras etc and there is still so much negativity out there. I've never disliked a video before, that I watched because obviously it was good enough I consumed it and a like the change someone's luck that day, make the algorithm change the exposure or whatever. Still 75% of people who watch my videos aren't subscribed. Kinda discouraging. All these little things help out so I love your comment. Thank you!

  • Very beautiful spoon with lots of amazing details. The spoon clearly shows where the skills excels compared to any other spoon. It requires not only to understand the wood and tools you’re working with, but it also shows it has become a lifestyle for you

    • Cheers brother. Yeah it has been a central part of my life for years now. It teaches me principles about shaping and crafting but also life. My teaching methods are different from other spooncarvers as in turn I am bringing my experience in body mechanics, combat sports and mental situational awareness into it. Hope causes anxiety, having a blueprint allows for confidence, boldness and relaxation.

  • Truly excellent work. Very well done! Thank you! I bought my knives and carving axe from Ben Orford, now I just need to get out in the forest and start carving. I'm excited BUT....you make it all look too bloody easy! :-) Oh yes and this.....Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou for playing very nice easy to listen to music during the carve. Today most videos play the most revolting shitty noise, it ain't even music!, so I thoroughly enjoyed your selection. 12 out of 10!

    • Wow you rock! Thank you! Got lots of shit from people about the music. For some that was the only comment... Or about talking too much... As if I wasn't allowed to speak about the channel but just pump out content. Makes your comment very refreshing. Check out this link too if you ever need some help... Cheers boon.tv/woodsmansfinest

  • The sheer accuracy that you have to have at 10:25 to not ruin the spoon completely is astonishing! It must save an awful lot of time in the long run being so skilled with the axe!

    • Cheers for the kind comment. There is a method behind all of it. There are lots of things I'm doing and considering to be that accurate. It isn't talent or just repetition. If you ever wanna step behind that: boon.tv/woodsmansfinest
