I only wish it was longer, but even this length gave us a subtle glimpse into Iga's mind in a chill atmosphere.. and just when I thought I couldn't love her more, she requests the harpist to play Florence + the machine, and then they started playing the dog days are over in the end! Woo this has just made my week! Thank you 🎉

  • But Swiatek is not how you spell Świątek. It would sound totally different in Polish if it was spelled Swiatek. Can't they just use Polish letters when they show her name during matches on tv? I mean I'm pretty sure if she was American they would use the correct letters to write her name even if they weren't in standard English alphabet, I'm sure they'd do it if she were from one of the "western" countries, it's not really that hard, just change the keyboard option to Polish characters... ś is alt+s & ą is alt+a

    • Americans and WTA skip French diacritical marks. I think there are good reasons to do it: - it's very easy to make mistake if you're not a native speaker - some letters have very slight differences (e.g. in Czech alphabet Í í and I i Ú ú and Ů ů) it's even easier to make mistake if you are in a hurry, which is typical situation in media. So it's easier to just skip diacritics entirely, even if it's an obvious mistake for native speakers. WTA is consistent, they skip diacritics in Spanish, German, French and many others alphabets), - many fonts don't have expanded character sets i.e. there's no Latin letters from non-Western languages, especially Central, Eastern and Southern Europe (e.g. Polish, Czech, Slovakian, Hungarian, Lithuanian, Croatian, Slovenian). So if you try to type it, you got blank or completely different letter. Fonts used by WTA have extended character sets, but they are not very polished, they use free fonts...

    • @@vojtasjedyny Without using the correct characters in a given language, correct pronunciation is magic for foreigners and lacks logic. It would be very easy to add a dozen extra characters from different languages in the Latin alphabet to your knowledge base than to keep tinkering blindly. Not all stamps above letters are accents: in Polish, a sign above, below or crossing out a consonant is a complete change in pronunciation, and four consonants placed next to each other are pronounced as two in a completely different way. It's simple knowledge, nothing difficult once you know how to pronounce a given character. The use of such characters from different languages in the media would allow us all to know and assimilate them.

    • @@ulasliz I know, but tell that to WTA, media owners and journalists, not me. I know from experience (graphic design), that additional foreign letters are potential traps, and editor has to be extremely careful. In perfect world there would be only one alphabet and one language.

Na twoim miejscu raczej nabrałabym wody w usta i zamilczała albowiem i wasi politycy sprowokowali obalenie legalnego rządu w Ukrainie w 2014.
