@@quamors Even the little ones aren't really safe. If you get bitten, seals in general have some nasty bacteria in their mouths. "Seal finger" is more treatable now but you used to just have to amputate if you were unlucky. With that said it's still dangerous to this day, especially since a lot of people don't tend to get non venomous bites checked out.

Guys pls calm down alright 1. @apriluson is prolly young so she don't get why I can't just fly to the other side of the earth for a seal cub that could kill off penguins by themselves now. 2. @maryjohnson tried her best to explain how harp seals stop nursing the cubs after 10 days (we learn new things everyday huh) so unless they learn to hunt fast they could go without food for like 4 months. No he's scared. That's a baby harp seal (I think) and they are abandoned by their mothers so they have to learn how to swim themselves. They prob think the people recording them are predators

I live in an area with a lot of breeding seals. Just leave them alone. They are not abandoned. They are either of age and out learning, or mom will be back later to feed the pup. Just ignore them 👍🏻

please stay 150 ft away from seals. if you can do a thumbs up and still see them behind your thumb, then you are too close. Being too close to seals causes them distress and to flee to the water. Please respect wildlife

@@TheHeavyDead420 .....the infant seal is literally trying to get away in the video. It doesn't know what we are besides big weird animals in it's space without it's mother for protection. Like it's fucking common sense not to mess with a wild baby animal. Mom seals don't like the come back on their beach to get their pup when there are people around, they will abandon their pups if there are too many predators. Sometimes human scent on their baby is enough to make them abandon it. I'm not just making up 150 feet- it's a law from the The Marine Mammal Protection Act that was set in place in 1972. I know you probably won't even read this, but just fucking respect animals it isn't hard.

Warm coat, and the meat is good for the dogs and emergencies. That fuzzy thing that protects the seal and makes it so perfect as a cute animal is the same thing that makes the difference between life and death in cold weather. If you removed the element of survival from the equation I think they're really cute and wholesome animals.

Wild animals are called that for a reason. Always do them a favor and give them plenty of space. You really never know if angry mother is nearby or what that animal will do. Far too often we’re seeing innocent wild animals be put down because tourists get too close and get hurt.

"Seal finger" is more treatable now but you used to just have to amputate if you were unlucky. With that said it's still dangerous to this day, especially since a lot of people don't tend to get non venomous bites checked out.

Like it's fucking common sense not to mess with a wild baby animal. Mom seals don't like the come back on their beach to get their pup when there are people around, they will abandon their pups if there are too many predators. Sometimes human scent on their baby is enough to make them abandon it. I'm not just making up 150 feet- it's a law from the The Marine Mammal Protection Act that was set in place in 1972. I know you probably won't even read this, but just fucking respect animals it isn't hard.
To think people hunt those sea doggos is madness to me.
Warm coat, and the meat is good for the dogs and emergencies. That fuzzy thing that protects the seal and makes it so perfect as a cute animal is the same thing that makes the difference between life and death in cold weather. If you removed the element of survival from the equation I think they're really cute and wholesome animals.

Wild animals are called that for a reason. Always do them a favor and give them plenty of space. You really never know if angry mother is nearby or what that animal will do. Far too often we’re seeing innocent wild animals be put down because tourists get too close and get hurt.
They only attack if they're adults, and only if approached. If one approaches you, it's been treated right by humans.
This is a baby seal not a Lion cub. I don't think the mother is going to come maul these guys to death! They wanted to get a good shot of his cute little evolved legs. Plus he's so cute I want to squeeze him!

Nah when I'm out in nature I get close to observe whatever I want. I'm not a tourist in life. I'm part of an ecosystem and I'm involved in it. I'll look, touch, eat if I so feel like it. City folk are the anomaly.

They get butt hurt when the animal that is so cute and fluffy, Doesn’t wanna hang out with you because it’s a wild animal not a pet.
If we truly appreciate something, we need to appreciate their space too. Not every animal needs to be petted. Some prefer to be just left alone. Appreciate from a distance that the animal doesn't feel threatened. Just being good humans.
