You could have said the same for Sagan after he won the world championships then spent a while coming in second. He was just learning what it is to be marked. A perfect sportman/woman doesn't have to win every time, they just have to perform to the very best of their potential. It's something by the way I aspire to, I know I won't win most races, but the attainment of sporting perfection is something which would be truly an enlightening experience - you know the joy of enjoying sport.

  • Those who are saying that this isn't possible. This was Dumoulin's fault. He didn't chase when he could have made back the gap. He should have covered Froome's attack because he's the only main rider and the other guys are honestly no GC contenders. Froome mostly created the gap on the descent and into the flat section. Dumoulin gave away too much time on the descent and then had too much work to do on the flat before the final climb, then on the final climb he ran out of gas. He wasted too much time waiting for the other guys in his pack to help but they had no reason to help him chase hard, they are happy with just getting GT podiums. That Reichenbach guy was finished, he was only making them lose time to Froome when he was doing his turns.

Yates has done what he has done in every grand tour and faded in the 3rd week. He blew himself up in the time trial. Dumoulin can hang on yes but has been pushed by Yates so hard he couldn't hang on. No nibali, no Quintana, no valverde equals no serious opposition. Sky have waited 2 weeks for this stage. They blew the whole race apart before froome even set off. It's just taking advantage of your strengths and your rivals weaknesses.

  • This is the most impressive and incredible come back of all time, love watching this time and time again. These are exceedingly talented pro cyclists behind that were made to look pedestrian. Absolute legend, take a bow Mr Froome. Chapeau!

  • Well, I've watched many of "Froome epic moments" and they all look the same ; weird, so effortless, faster then possible. How is he even capable of getting away of 30 meters in a few seconds from the best cyclist in the world ? 1:06 is impossible
