So far he is successful doing Armstrong. Hopefully he will end up like him too
Dear ES can you please share the full stage? This is one of the greatest moments i new cycling history.
@@aleksandarignjatovic3130 don't listen to the jealous french
Please show the proper whole stage including the crucial descent too
Feel bad for the editor that had the job of cutting this down to 5min.
anononomous definitely difficult.Hopefully the 5 hour proper highlights package will come out soon.
5min does not do it justice. A fucking awesome ride!
Froomes ride IMO was the greatest stage ever ridden. The planning and build up to this to get his weight right, the feeding right and the execution of a solo 80km mountain TT at the end...just astonishing. This is why he is the complete GC rider.
Amazing ride, but greatest stage ever ridden? That's a bit of an exaggeration. Eddy Merckx rode some crazy stages, not to mention pre world war participants heroics.
@@koopalibrary or miraculous wins by Charly Gaul, angel of the mountains.
Nah roid landis massive minutes overhaul was the greatest. That was inhumane🙅
Bernard Hinault winning the 1980 Giro on the Stelvio pass with team mate Jean-René Bernadeau was tactically even better IMO.
Only Chris Froome could even think of an 80 km time trial.
One of the best stages ever raced
what a stage mark
Tommy Wiseau agreed
+Tommy Wiseau…..spot on and that's what makes the Giro so special!
It was very good; although in Stage 11 from Grenoble to Orcières Merlette (134 km) in the 1971 Tour, Luis Ocaña took nearly 6 minutes out of Lucien Van Impe and almost 9 minutes out of Eddy, not to mention Joop Zoetemelk, Gösta Pettersson, Bernard Thévenet (all Grand Tour Winners, noting Thévenet’s, eerr ‘medical situations’ since… It is generally accepted (Merckx has stated so himself) that if Ocana didn’t crash coming down The Mente on Stage 14 (there was a massive thunderstorm and many came down), forcing him to abandon, that Ocana would have won the Tour...
Yip, that`s the issue for me. Absolutely brilliant......
I never get tired of watching this. Seen it too many times.
Froome takes it to the next level doing something epic..... It is not about getting leadership but how he managed this amazing stage! Team sky perfect!
I’m a Dumoulin fan but I got to say that Froome is a legend and deserves to win the Giro after this class performance and you need a lot of balls to do this and this was the best stage I’ve ever seen (based on Froome’s performance) (and I’m a fan of Froome since he was beginning to get good in service of Wiggins but I’m more fan of Dumoulin because I’m Dutch and his the perfect model of how a sportsman needs to be)
You are wrong, son.
You do not need balls for that. Yo need the right combination of epo
@@felroberto We know by analysis of the stage that Froome won on the descents, all you need is skill and a bucketful of balls to make up time there - which he had.
Doumoulin "is the perfect model of how a sportsman needs to be" LOL - he literally loses every big race he enters - he is the opposite of perfect.
@@rotwart Nah, He's won a Grand Tour, he's a UCI World Champion in the time trial discipline, to me, he's a dictionary definition of a great sportsman. You could have said the same for Sagan after he won the world championships then spent a while coming in second. He was just learning what it is to be marked. A perfect sportman/woman doesn't have to win every time, they just have to perform to the very best of their potential. It's something by the way I aspire to, I know I won't win most races, but the attainment of sporting perfection is something which would be truly an enlightening experience - you know the joy of enjoying sport.
I’d never watched a live cycling stage/race before, I noticed the giro was on and had it on in the background as I worked… It just so happened to be this stage. Now I’m a cycling fan, and will be for life. Amazing.
Froome Incredible! Let's hope he can come back from that shocking injury. If anyone can Chris can! !
He's a legend and one of the most decent blokes the sport has ever seen and all they can do around the world is tear strips off him!! Don't let them grind ya down! Respect Chris Froome!!
@M570 So true..
I watched it all live. Just Epic never to be forgotten. Making History. Well done Team Sky.
Without any doubt the greatest sporting achievement I've ever witnessed: the teamwork, the timing, the sheer grit. And they said Team Sky was boring!
Team sky was usually boring, but in this stage it became the funniest team of ever
@@fabiorinaldi5203 Remember a lot of the other teams just sat back and never attacked Sky, Movistar especially were always so negative but it was always Sky called boring.
Still watch this in amazement. Super human, super ballsy, the difference between a born winner and the rest.
Should have uploaded the whole stage. One huge highlight. Unbelievable to watch
Couldn't agree more. 5 mins in no where near enough to capture the immensity of this stage and Froome's effort on it.
What an outstanding ride by the Kenyan born British superstar Chris Froome ,,,He's such a strong bike racer and super talented even mentally …..
I have come back to watch this stage countless times. What an amazing ride from Froome, incredible..
same for me as well, this one attack probably beats the 4 tour wins, we all said he was sooo boring, this was the answer to us and it is brilliant
I miss so much fromey epic stages
There's a discrepancy on the distance. Add another 1,5 km to the 80.3, the moment Froome signs his entrance at the temple of the cycling greatest, because during the night before one landslide blocked the original track, so the organizers decided to avoid it by adding the 1,5 km mentioned before.
Froomey Friday bonanza 💪💪💪💪💪 the best Friday in sport ever ... was a pleasure to witness this event ... absolutely brilliant... Chris froomey stamped himself into legendary status .. 🥂⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️🦏🦏🦏🦏🦏🦏🦏👊👊👊👊👊
Hands down the craziest ride I've ever seen! This definetely puts a big stamp on Froomes accomplishments.
This is what makes cycling so amazing, wonderful giro, yates now nowere to be found and now froome somewere at the top of the giro 2018 simply wonderful
Concrete Head i hope he is clean even if i doubt😥
Best race I've ever watched 😵😵
Beautiful. What a victory for the sport. Chris Froome, you magnificent beast.
As a Brit loved this, but still felt for Tom at the same time. Froome was just out this world that day, chapeau.
Surely the greatest comeback in cycling history. Froome is a 4 times tour winner, giro and vuelta winner. He deserves a knighthood soon
Dont call me surely
Today was an epic historical race. Kudos to Froomey he pulled a rabbit out of a hat on this stage.
Carlton Kirby could make a snail race sound exciting.
BEST GIRO STAGE EVER!!
Binda,coppi,Gaul...
Such a joy to be reminded of this. Froome is surely one of the greatest cyclists who ever lived. Right up there with mighty talents like Merckx and Armstrong.
Oh ArmStrong of using drugs? it is the same one we speak about? The one who cheated his entire career?
Armstrong? Yeah he did it all cheating. Merckx didn’t. Choose your reference points better.
We are lucky to see him, GREATEST!
The greats often produce one or two moments throughout their career that just transcend their sport entirely. This was Froome's. One of the greatest things I've ever seen in Pro Cycling.
This guy....respect from me,forever.Years gone by,but this is forever
My faith has restored. 7/ top 9 comments are positive 😁😁😁😁
Those who are saying that this isn't possible. This was Dumoulin's fault. He didn't chase when he could have made back the gap. He should have covered Froome's attack because he's the only main rider and the other guys are honestly no GC contenders. Froome mostly created the gap on the descent and into the flat section. Dumoulin gave away too much time on the descent and then had too much work to do on the flat before the final climb, then on the final climb he ran out of gas. He wasted too much time waiting for the other guys in his pack to help but they had no reason to help him chase hard, they are happy with just getting GT podiums. That Reichenbach guy was finished, he was only making them lose time to Froome when he was doing his turns.
Exactly Dumoulin has been pushing himself hard since week 1, Froome was chilling earlier last week after losing time. He had nothing to lose.
@@kimjongdonald950 that's right. such a strange GIro for Froome, because in the start he was not in great shape. then he crashed down. but then he found a really good form, every day even more. but the team sky was a masterpiece. globally
@@napomania I think Froome crashed on the reconnaissance of the prologue and that was clearly affecting his form for the first half of the Giro.
@@MotRi1986 he crashed even in another stage, during a wet climb
@@napomania he stated in another video that he felt uncomfortable on the bike for the first 9-10 stages after the initial crash. He was riding badly from a technical standpoint and this led to the crash you mentioned. This is definitely not unheard of, its actually really impressive that he managed to get back to his normal self during a grand tour.
Фруми великий гонщик, одно удовольствие смотреть этот этап и вспоминать, как это было. Сейчас он травмирован, но я верю, что фруми ещё возьмёт титул на туре. Восстановись и победи.
THE DOG IS BACK - what a legend!!
I can't believe people are disrespecting this man already. People do really forget you once you're past prime
Outstanding!
AMAZING!
Epic, love watching it again !.
What an amazing performance can’t believe he won the stage and is in pink 🔥🔥
Chris Froome is a living legend
One of the best 5 stages in the last 10 years
Up there with if not the best stage win of all time.. woth the significance of what Froome needed to do to win the GC... The balls to do it and personal and team execution..Hero
froom sprinting like sagan but on an 8% slope, good job froomy, leaving the others grind behind you
Once in a lifetime. Never seen anything like it.
kzhead.info/sun/i82akdSLe2prhnk/bejne.html Floyd Landis 2006 Tour de France, stage 17.
Amazing stage!
Chris Froome is a monster! Incredible!
Yes. A doping monster
Froome is just a beast. What a climb and sole breakaway. Feel sorry for Yates but he is cooked.
Highlights too short to show the magnitude of the ride by froome.
Awesome ride, and Simon Yates in his pre race predictions for BBC said this was what would happen and that Froome would win this stage in this manner.
Legendary
Amazing ride, holy god
He went full "Floyd Landis" at this stage 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Wow, what a stage , that man is a true legend , unbelievable, congratulations to Chris Froome, nobody can say that was boring. Come on Froomey smash it tomorrow and it's yours
What annoys me about people saying how could they let him race is that technically this case should've been confidential so no one would've actually known
.. and that makes it alright, eh?..
@@PatkaBoy831 How many other riders are out there having also posted 'adverse' findings? We don't know - because it's confidential. Froome's result was leaked deliberately to discredit him, but it just spurred him onto greater things
INCREDIBLE!
Froome's asthma didn't bother him today : he must have had a few big puffs on his powerful steroid inhaler.
vinm300 Are you boot?
Sorin, I'm only repeating Froome's own words ,"Chris Froome took several puffs on his inhaler to avoid coughing ". If you think it sounds implausible that's your problem.
What a performance.
One of, if not the, most exciting and amazing races I've ever watched. That was a ride of biblical proportions by Chris Froome. Gotta feel for Yates. The way his form is going, I can't see Froome losing pink. Laugh at all those slating him for the asthma case, if he had done something absolutely terrible, then he would be banned now. Secondly, it isn't a performance enhancing drug, especially when he's been regularly taking it. Well done to Froome!
Ross Fripp I actually think the 2000 Armstrong, 1996 Riis, 2006 Landis performances were greater.
Speriamo torni così l'anno prossimo 💪🏻🤞🏻
Fantastico superman Froome
I want to feel the same high he gets when his turbo starts. just amazing
Utterly incredible......never seen anything like it in modern times. Feel terrible for Yatesy though.......genuinley thought he had the Giro in the bag after the TT, not looked where he is now in GC, id guess outside of top 25? Spectacular from Froome though, wow!
Almost forgot to watch this today.
I cant believe this stage. Im shoking in Korea
clean or not. this was one of the most remarkable performances in cycling history. in the history of the sport there werent too many to do what that man just did. clean or not.
chris is definitely a cycling great, no matter what others assume about him (hint, tabloid media is just there to sensationalise stories to make money). one thing i am very curious about though is how/when is chris going to taper for the tdf? personally i would expect that keeping this sort of performance level up until perhaps 2 or 3 weeks before the tour and then taper down would be best, but then i am no expert.
This is comeback story is on a par with, if not greater that Liverpool in Istanbul. Written of at halftime, both Froome and Liverpool, only to rally and come back to win. Unbelievable sport
so happy that not all of the comments here are "dope"
People forget, that Froome got something like 38 sec up on Doumolin to the top of the climb, but put more than a minute plus on him on the descent.. That is some descending... He really is the complete pro cyclist... Coming from Mitchelton-Scott follower.. The asthma saga, well, who really knows. I know that when I use my asthma puffer either before or during a ride, it doesn't improve times, it just makes it more comfortable in breathing.. Does it give benefits in higher dosages??? The jury is out, the regrettable thing is the UCI and it's handling, or lack of.. Inconsistant!
If that was Armstrong we all would be laughing and saying no way.
The dawg has made it
Impressionante
Best stage win and performance of all time by Froome here. Disagree all you like. This Froome is the GOAT - descends and climbs. No chance!!
Simplesmente uma das mais loucas aventuras de um ciclista. Estava a mais de 3 minutos do 1.º. Ou seja, ou arriscava e perdia ou ganhava tudo. Neste caso Ganhou tudo...
Nibali made up similar time at the end of the 2016. Thee difference in this race was that several of the contenders didn't lose 5 minutes they lost 30 minutes.
Chapeau!
This was one of the greatest stages in grand tour history, it will be remembered in cycling history forever.
WildPhotoShooter As will Floyd Landis in the 2006 TdF. He shouldn't be allowed to race by the UCI, but he probably bribed someone. Froome has the best doctors this year. Chapeau to the doctors for this stage victory!
Listen. Those casting doubt on froome soloing 80km. Look who he is up against. In terms of climbing he has no real competitor at the giro. Yates has done what he has done in every grand tour and faded in the 3rd week. He blew himself up in the time trial. Dumoulin can hang on yes but has been pushed by Yates so hard he couldn't hang on. No nibali, no Quintana, no valverde equals no serious opposition. Sky have waited 2 weeks for this stage. They blew the whole race apart before froome even set off. It's just taking advantage of your strengths and your rivals weaknesses.
Samuel Holley why are people still talking about Quintana? Froome gets the help and wins races. How many other teams work as effectively as Sky? Seems like a lot of those teams just out there to look pretty and not out to win.
Yeah people have just made their minds up already that Froome is guilty and nothing will change that unfortunately. Classic stubborn human nature. Shame really.
plus froome is one of the best descenders in the world . he made up most of the time descending . meanwhile dumoulin is waiting for reichenbach .
You sir, are STUPID, and completely taken in, take ya head out of ya arse and take a real look at this fake sport, Landis, Armstrong, Wiggins Froome, and now Geraint Thomas all cheaters, after all we have been through it's hard to believe that people still follow this sport have we learned nothing over the last 15-20 years, Ullrich,Riis,Pantani,Armstrong, Evans, Wiggins and Froome, don't be taken in by these arseholes.
@@finnersz it all comes out at some point an iam sure e will be scrubbing team sky riders of the list of tour, giro and vuelta winners and tossing them in the bin with the rest of the disgraced riders (twats)
This is the most impressive and incredible come back of all time, love watching this time and time again. These are exceedingly talented pro cyclists behind that were made to look pedestrian. Absolute legend, take a bow Mr Froome. Chapeau!
My good! Great froome amazing 🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️
grande
WOW!!! 👏👏
Simple answer is Yes!
Go for this tactic today Pog in TDF!! Nowt to lose.Your still the MAIN MAN!!!
what the f... I still cant believe what I just watched LOL, omg wtf a lot of action..
Wow!
oh.my.god. sensational
Charlton Kirby brilliant commentary 👍👍👍👍👍👍 the voice of cycling 🚴♀️ 🙏🙏🙏
I dont like froome but this was an incredible stage to watch
CFroome oval chainrings rules ;)
Well, I've watched many of "Froome epic moments" and they all look the same ; weird, so effortless, faster then possible. How is he even capable of getting away of 30 meters in a few seconds from the best cyclist in the world ? 1:06 is impossible
Grandissimo Chris
Gosh !! Chris Froome went up that mountain like an express train, as if he was on rocket fuel. Hmm.....
trek rider show his power av 300 watts but finished after froome 45 minute Question is How much watt on chris froome produce on stage 19 ? 1,000 watts av on stage 19 ???????
The other riders didn't have asthma: not fair.
That was what happened when Simon Yates didn't keep a bl**dy lid on it! Second time's the charm! 🏁🚲
Dope dag er voor verloor hij veel tijd . Dan kun je niet zo weer rijden volgende dag
What's the gear ratio Froome is riding at, with such a high cadence? Or is he just going fast uphill?
I believe he was using a compact..34/50 with 12 /28 on the back...theres a vid somewhere on YT with Lance Armstrong on this very subject
