But the ones that care and always have played hard and earned the recognition, when they lose their career to Injury and have to go on Live TV and pretty much tell the world they have to give up the thing they love so much and worked hard for their entire life must be heart breaking. I play softball now as a 36 year old. And I'm scared to have to say that I cant do it anymore. It def feels like you let down the squad and yourself and all your friends. But in reality it's a stupid ass injury. But all love to Prince. He was and always will be a fucking animal in my eyes. Allow me to explain for people who don't watch sports why athletes retiring can be emotional: I understand why you wonder what's so sad about a multi-millionaire no longer being able to professionally play a game. The overwhelming majority of professional athletes have very short careers and transition into retirement without any note or fanfare from the wider world of sports. When these more extravagant goodbyes happen, the athlete in question will have had a career for at least a decade and been in the public eye for equally as long. Consequentially, they become a part of our lives the same way our favourite singers do, and when they decide to call it quits it marks the end of an era. The ones that really affect you - well, the ones that really get to me - are those whose careers began when we were still kids or otherwise young. When Roy Halladay retired, it wasn't just that there would no longer be a new game for him to pitch, it made clear that my childhood was over. When Tom Brady eventually retires, whatever else one may think of him, it will have a similar effect.

I know its only college football but I'd like to throw in the moments from the 2016 season for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Michigan State Spartans which celebrated Sam Foltz for the Huskers as well as Mike Sadler for the Spartans, both of whom were killed in a car accident during the summer of 2016. Including Nebraska's missing punt formation in the first game against Fresno State, the same game a balloon Husker Tradition landed on the 27 yard line *Sam's number*. I'm from Nebraska so I don't know what exactly M-State did to celebrate Mike's life, but as another throw in, this last 2018 season, which was the first meeting between the Spartans and the Huskers since the accident, the Huskers won 9-6, with the only points coming from field goals. @ @

I ruptured my left achilles in a soccer game when I was thirty. That empty feeling knowing that it was over. Even if I did get it all repaired, I had more important things to do with life than soccer. I love that game. Still do. The good news is that I know I love to teach the game (learned that when I had a knee injury in college)... But having to tell my team that I was seriously injured...and that, no, I wasn't coming back after surgery. Ugh. Good friends.

Hanging your jersey... what a moment.
I love prince fielder my baseball number is 84 and when i heard he retired i was sad
prince fielder’s announcing his retirement 🥺
whats the name of this song?
This got me crying at 2 am

What’s the song name in the beginning of the video?
Derek jeter ending his career on a walk off base hit was crazy
As a Red Sox fan, Mariano Rivera is my favorite pitcher in mlb history. I hate what he did to my Red Sox, but none of that insane pitching sorcery could’ve been done by a better man.
I’m a rangers fan and the first one since I am a rangers fan was emotional too
I’m not a huge fan of baseball but Jeter’s last hit was something else
What was that moment about when they player was crying/hugging the guy that walked over to him?
Rivera. Famed famed famed ny player finally going off the mound.
@@pugmygudboi Oh ok thank you. Does that mean that was his last game?
@@voiceofreason1613 yep.
ffs this video hits hard lol
Beautiful
The Mariano Rivera one got me....cause that was something out of a freaking Hollywood movie. Movies always have the main character live in New York city and at the end of the movie more times then not a crowd of new Yorkers are giving the character an applause for some reason. New york the greatest city on earth they say right?
I came her cuz of the Kobe death and got even more sad cuz back in the day that prince retirement got me 😭😭😭
I was in a little league team, we got a playoff game today 1st game, lost... The worst thing about that game is leaving the field and leaving my team. "What you do speaks louder than you say" Anthony Rizzo-
I ruptured my left achilles in a soccer game when I was thirty.
This is it 16 years man
I cried during David Wrights
My biggest is having to pitch my last pitch and field my last ground ball and have my last and having my last huddle
Damn these onions man.....😭😭😭
I feel for Prince Fielder he was my favorite to bad he never won a ring he should make a come back he only 36
You might need to update this 💔rip Kobe and Gigi
“You shot Derek Jeter, he’s a bi racial angel”
Prince Fielder got me…😢
You'll never walk alone guys.
I HATE HATE HATE the Yankees....but Mariano....what a legendary moment
I hate the Yankees but growing up watching jester and Rivera seeing them retire got me emotional
wow thats emotional
Josh Bohan Because the bengals won that game, the Bills ended their 17 year playoff drought. Considering the rest of the clips, I don’t think it belongs but whatever.
