It was just a really wierd wig he started to wear after fighting Mob left him bald, it got blown off during one of his fights and his real hair grew back out underneath

Mob Psycho touches on many serious topics but just looking at it from an outside perspective it could seem like an average comedy. Teru is an incredibly powerful protagonist, he just got stuck in someone else's story by accident and had to accept that he'd been sidelined. Which he did quite gracefully (after getting that baldy anyway lol)

well he also learned his powers don't make him special cause there's loads of amazing people in the world (???% shigeo showed him just how big the world is) and what makes him special is himself. just like how shigeo is special because he tries his best to better himself in the places he's lacking, teru's special by just being himself, rather than defining himself solely on his powers.

I think this concept is best described in the second to last scene here, where teruki is fighting the telekinesis guy. Towers the end of the scene where he says “we could both beat the boss and rule the world” he mirrors mobs lesson and says “your just an ordinary man. Even I could defeat you.” Which I think perfectly describes his character and mobs impact as a whole.

He’s not slandering Bakugo just stating the long list of rage characters that yell all the time but are still good. Ofcourse there’s more depth to each character but the trope is still there. One doesn’t follow the trope but instead uses it to demonstrate character growth of the said character and abandoning the trope all together. Hence the guys point. One is known for this. God, I love him. Mob is my baby, but Teru is like a bro. He's so cool, self-sufficient, and has a good sense of how and when to use violence efficiently after Mob beat the humility into him. He's such a great foil and friend to Mob, and he's just a pretty chill and cool dude all around, and quietly weird and hilarious, and it suits him so well. What's not to love?

It's so refreshing to see the "harder core haughty powerful rival" character get a dressing down, and then to see him developed into a more stable, confident (less evil) person. Most series would have stopped at the dressing down part or just straight up killed him... this show is really amazing. I love it

Helps legitimize that his previous behavior was a front, and now he's genuinely at peace with himself. It's so amazing! Few series would have let powerful and former antagonists live life as if they're still ordinary people, even if being "ordinary" is an intrinsic belief to the show like it is to Mob ("powers don't make you above 'special'"), it's great!

He says this because he had that experience with Mob's unknowable fucking crazy psychic raid boss that he unleashed on him accidentally when they fought. He knows that compared to Mob, all their psychic powers are trash, so he values technique and also stays humble. Even though that teleporting guy is OP as fuck, he's like: "Well honestly you're about the same power level as me if we add Mob on the scale.".

I love the way One writes. You see it right? He has a main character that is ridiculously overpowered, and then a side-main character that could have been a protag in any other anime. Because they are a side character though, whether they succeed or fail is very much underterminable. There are actual stakes because they are basically main characters WITHOUT plot armor.

He’s honestly an interesting character. What he understands as being special has changed. No longer does being special mean you have extra rights and privileges. It means you have a leg up, but at the end of the day, you’re a person. They’re all people. You aren’t somebody so far above people that they are some anonymous “other” and he’s become somebody whose ready to show what it really means to be a protagonist now.

This line stands out to me because it has always been my philosophy that there will always be someone better than you(me). No matter how hard I strive there will be someone who worked harder or has more talent. I am content to be competent in what I do. I don't necessarily recommend this lifestyle though since it has lead me to live a middling life of monotony but I am fine with that too. Don't stop striving but don't be surprised when you are surpassed. It is inevitable.

It was just a really wierd wig he started to wear after fighting Mob left him bald, it got blown off during one of his fights and his real hair grew back out underneath

@@bg3841 Yeah! Teru's character arc being reflected by his hair is a really good take that I didn't think of before! Mob Psycho touches on many serious topics but just looking at it from an outside perspective it could seem like an average comedy. You could definitely make a commentary on judging books by their covers with MP haha

Teru is an incredibly powerful protagonist, he just got stuck in someone else's story by accident and had to accept that he'd been sidelined. Which he did quite gracefully (after getting that baldy anyway lol)
well he also learned his powers don't make him special cause there's loads of amazing people in the world (???% shigeo showed him just how big the world is) and what makes him special is himself. just like how shigeo is special because he tries his best to better himself in the places he's lacking, teru's special by just being himself, rather than defining himself solely on his powers.
Which makes him a non protagonist-

And then there is Shou, who straight up invents powers for himself! As far as I can tell, he invented the invisibility power himself, and he was able to counter Ishiguro's 'black holes' after only watching him fight for a bit. They should really team up and put their skills to use! I wonder what all they could learn to do.

teruki is the perfect balance between mob (won't stand up for himself) and anyone else who will use their powers to do whatever they want he learned his lesson from mob and became better. Mob could never be a superhero (like fighting people who do bad) but I feel like teruki could
I feel like teruki represents more of the perfect LEADER when it comes to fighting bad guys. Hes putting his social skills and natural charisma to good use now that Mob has helped him care about other people and not just himself.
I think this concept is best described in the second to last scene here, where teruki is fighting the telekinesis guy. Towers the end of the scene where he says “we could both beat the boss and rule the world” he mirrors mobs lesson and says “your just an ordinary man. Even I could defeat you.” Which I think perfectly describes his character and mobs impact as a whole.

What a chad One is, he deconstructed and devoped tropes like Bakugo in less than one season while it would be the running gag of an entire series in other types of mangas/anime.

He’s not slandering Bakugo just stating the long list of rage characters that yell all the time but are still good. Ofcourse there’s more depth to each character but the trope is still there. One doesn’t follow the trope but instead uses it to demonstrate character growth of the said character and abandoning the trope all together. Hence the guys point. One is known for this. No slander at all really.

teru has one of the best character arcs in the series, going from haughty and so sure of his powers to realizing just how big the world is and understanding that his powers aren't what make him special, he himself is, same with everyone else. his genuine admiration of shigeo and being one of his best friends is really sweet too
It's awesome to see that reflecting even on his fighting scenes throughout the show While his earlier versions showed him just flexing his powers and relying completely on them, his later scenes show just how collected, smart and adaptive he himself is, his powers becoming merely a tool for his will
And then he decided 'you know what? I AM awesome.' He kept his confidence even after getting a shave and a severe reality check. Kid's gonna be alright

God, I love him. Mob is my baby, but Teru is like a bro. He's so cool, self-sufficient, and has a good sense of how and when to use violence efficiently after Mob beat the humility into him. He's such a great foil and friend to Mob, and he's just a pretty chill and cool dude all around, and quietly weird and hilarious, and it suits him so well. What's not to love?
It's so refreshing to see the "harder core haughty powerful rival" character get a dressing down, and then to see him developed into a more stable, confident (less evil) person. Most series would have stopped at the dressing down part or just straight up killed him... this show is really amazing. I love it

Helps legitimize that his previous behavior was a front, and now he's genuinely at peace with himself. It's so amazing! Few series would have let powerful and former antagonists live life as if they're still ordinary people, even if being "ordinary" is an intrinsic belief to the show like it is to Mob ("powers don't make you above 'special'"), it's great!

He says this because he had that experience with Mob's unknowable fucking crazy psychic raid boss that he unleashed on him accidentally when they fought. He knows that compared to Mob, all their psychic powers are trash, so he values technique and also stays humble. Even though that teleporting guy is OP as fuck, he's like: "Well honestly you're about the same power level as me if we add Mob on the scale.".

I love the way One writes. You see it right? He has a main character that is ridiculously overpowered, and then a side-main character that could have been a protag in any other anime. Because they are a side character though, whether they succeed or fail is very much underterminable. There are actual stakes because they are basically main characters WITHOUT plot armor.

He’s honestly an interesting character. What he understands as being special has changed. No longer does being special mean you have extra rights and privileges. It means you have a leg up, but at the end of the day, you’re a person. They’re all people. You aren’t somebody so far above people that they are some anonymous “other” and he’s become somebody whose ready to show what it really means to be a protagonist now.
Yes his VA is the same guy as Inosuke! He also voiced the student council president in Mob too. His name Matsuoka Yoshitsugu, if you look him up you'll find he's probably been in a LOT of your favorite anime! Most notably he's also been Kirito, Souma from Food Wars, Bell Cranel and Sora from No Game No Life.

This line stands out to me because it has always been my philosophy that there will always be someone better than you(me). No matter how hard I strive there will be someone who worked harder or has more talent. I am content to be competent in what I do. I don't necessarily recommend this lifestyle though since it has lead me to live a middling life of monotony but I am fine with that too. Don't stop striving but don't be surprised when you are surpassed. It is inevitable.
