The smile after he lost the match, to me, is the sign of a humble master. What a beautiful display of physicality and sportsmanship at the end. Cheers!
He was fighting a python!
That was some of the most intense cuddling I've ever seen
i had to watch the whole fight again after reading this LOL
Good one!! 😆
If I ever decided to train jiu jitsu and managed to compete, I'd eat beans the night before and for beakfast, can guarantee you they would either tap, give me the victory or eat a mouthfull of gas!
@@TheVicGuerra brilliant
Casual
2:34 how he took over the back here is legendary
*EXACTLY* *THAT WAS VERY NEXT LEVEL* 💯🏆
Replayed it 10 times still don't get it
I had to watch that half a dozen times. That was insane!
Replayed it several times at 0.25x Speed
The 2 pulls on the head/neck just beforehand is what set it up.
The fact that they kept each other so safe was mind blowing. Also, excellent back take
The flexibility and strength in both of their ankles is next level. How their feet weren't snapped off I'll never know
There is a reason you don't see very many straight ankle locks at the highest level.
Casual
I held my breath throughout the whole match!! Even there is no blood, no punch, no sound, but this is the most stressful match I ever watched!, knowing how dangerous every move both side was applying.
I get nervous when it comes to leg locks, that back take was sick 💯
💯
hahaha. what? obv nvr watched mma then.
@@Tezok19 me too, I have tiny shin bones and I’m 10x more careful not to get my leg locked than any other part in grappling. 🤦🏻♂️
You might want to get into male/male sex vids.
the courtesy and respect immediately after the tap, will forever be remembered much more than his skills.... Skill fades, Class always remains....! 💐
In the end, and I mean death, the only thing you take with you is Integrity.
I agree with both of you completely!
This is genuinely why marital arts is the only sport I follow. It’s the highest stakes and the highest level of respect you see (I mean generally. There are going to be c**ts in any sport, just some more than others).
He's just tapped a living legend of course he's gonna show some respect.
@@chuckclark6162 TEGRITY
On several occasions I lost track of which limbs belonged to which contestant. Very impressive work by both of them
Sitting down is just so atypical for any martial art, i'm happy that my BJJ Gym approaches Standing Starts when rolling.
I’m normally not a big fan of the ground game but that was really entertaining. Crazy skill from the both of them and awesome respect after from both. Well done
Well I do BJJ along with other martial arts and I freaking hate when they but scoot right away, it makes alit of normies to not want to watch.. we need people to get excited and pay to watch
imo ground game is only boring in mma bc they just lie on top and punch. when you can't punch it gets much more interesting
@@yes-vy6bn very interesting point
Check out Bravo/Gracie 2.
Ground game is an actual chess match my dude, when punching is more of luck game...
This was such an inspirational match. I got so much after watching just the first half: The boys passionately sought out each other's feet. As they tossed and flipped in each other's arms, evermore excited by each grunt and heavy exhaust of humid air that escaped the other's mouth, nothing in the world mattered to either of them any more. All the boys they have been with and been through have been completely forgotten-all the pains and pleasures they taught, likewise meaningless. This was indeed a match made in feetopia.
Hahahahahahah bravo
What? That was unexpected n hilarious
if helio gracie saw THIS 70 years ago, instead of Maeda, he would have started badminton instead.
BBD, Brazilian Badminton's 🤣🤣
@@jameslevin9720 omg! 😂😂😂
Ironically this is cooler than what Gracie was doing, since Judo, catch wrestling, and even leg locks already existed without his mafia family efforts, but this sport didn't. So kudos to the Gracies for indirectly creating cool sports
@@emilianosintarias7337 They’re dreadful people. Screw them.
@@emilianosintarias7337 Relax. Helio was literally fighting bigger , stronger men from different styles...These guys are butt scooting and doing flashy stuff that is only made possible because there's no strikes involved . Cool in a "sport" BJJ kinda way ...but this is not a fight by any stretch.
Oh my god, this is fantastic game.. what an amazing fight.. it's like playing puzzle but the puzzle playing you back.
Beautiful metaphor dude
Well said!!
It's called a chess match
I have never seen a grappling fight before, seeing this fight I’m in love grappling fight, no blood, no punches and still extremely entertaining
I literally saw the skills of a python using both physical and mental skills to choke out his opponent. He baited move by move, whilst being elusive, to get into his final position to submit his prey. This match here is definitely on my top 3 matches, ever.
စယင့စသင
A python can’t do that…!
What the hell were you watching? Discovery Channel? Looks like two guys displaying masterful grappling to me.
what are your top 2?
What are your other two fights
I can't believe how much stamina they have. I did this in the Army (combatives) and after a minute or two we'd be sweating out of breath. They're professionals so I guess they have better breath control, but man, people dont know how exhausting this is
Matthew, is this you
I did both grappling and striking. Grappling is far more strenuous.
No, seriously, are you matthew =)) HAHA
That was a master-level, chess match in grappling!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
No this wasn't chess. There were no cheating anal plugs
Most wholesome kid friendly fighting. No punching, kicks, blood. Just intense hugging.
Try to fight a 15 year old blue belt kid and lets see if you dont go unconscious in the first 2minutes
@@Lemjanmusic Oh yeah i know. Im not trained. Have done trial before tho with mma training (wanted to do it. Seemed like fun. Might try get into it again) Trainer ran drills with me. Said im not a good striker but i was a natural in "intense hugging" being cool calm collected. My bro who was twice my size really struggle there. So explains y i like watching these. Watching them maneuver and seeing what works and what i could do there.
@@DEMONITION1723 i used to train mma for 2years back in hs too. I was 5'6 55kg lanky kid with no muscle tone and I regularly submit newbie jacked adults twice my weight. I am also very good at intense hugging and not striking. I just spam takedowns in sparring lol. I also only submit opponents with triangle choke cause my arms are to weak for armbars or chokes. Buff dudes literally carry me when i armbar them. Lol. I also want to try it again with my 22yo adult somewhat matured body.
@@Lemjanmusic Basically you fight those guys 'Cosmo Imai' style (look it up, you'll like him) So the trainer said i was a natural on the ground, because i was comfortable while being choked. Kept it from sinkin, breathed and worked my way out. Moving around to find openings to switch it. Which he gave little instruction. Calm and relaxed under pressure.
The type of fighters you love to punch.
Prodigy no doubt. Too smooth with the transitions
The gentle and intellectual "fight" I ve watched, almost like watching a chess game or just pure mano to mano love, unbelievable.
Thats more of a fight than swinging punches i think
@@adamstannard7934 ground and pound disagrees lol
Great sportsmanship shown by the new star in his first debut.
The way imanari smile at the end.. show true sportsmanship n professionalism. Admit defeat. A true warrior and fighter... Realized it the future has got into him.. congratulations to the prodigy.. hope the best to both of them
That was smooth, and the respect at the end of the fight🔥🔥🔥
That was super technical and really fun to watch!
Impressive display on both sides. Imanari applied a couple subs that would have tapped anyone that didn't have that crazy flexibility combined with young muscles. & later Imanari got out of several tough positions with little movements that would have trapped most people. Mikey's flexibility & timing will make him difficult for any non-heavyweight to beat.
Now that's amazing. I haven't followed any fighting since a while, so I had never seen Imamari getting subbed before. This guy is good.
That was amazing!! This match was so tense. Those legs locking the right arms were magnificent!
that move for getting to back control was slick
Instantly pulling guard is why people don’t care to watch sport jiu jitsu lol there should be points awarded or something because what are you left to do if someone is just laying on their back? There is zero incentive to engage.
Brother, if you watch jiu jitsu you're going to see fighting from guard brother
@@dragoncitykickboxing8537 I've practiced bjj and i love it but I'll be honest. immediately pulling guard wasnt really the point of bjj when it was created, this only works for sport so you dont worry about the other guy scoring points.
@@brandontucker7460 So when watching it in a competitive sport setting, you could agree that the utilisation of certain tactics are fascinating to understand? I have barely practiced BJJ, maybe that's why different methods of victory are fascinating to me.
Normally pulling guard without grips costs you 2 points or so i think
@@dragoncitykickboxing8537 a lot of bjj is focused on the ground so its understandable why people do it instead of engaging in standing up. grappling. i do feel its still important to have an understanding of standing up like practice some wrestling or judo it can really help your ground game too.
This was a thing of beauty! I’ve been studying BJJ for a few years and to see someone have skills like this is amazing. To an untrained eye it would be boring. But to someone who knows, this guy was consistently a step ahead
especially the stand up skills are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I absolutely agree this was a picture of art ! Two very skilled men
I am untrained yet I’m entertained. And Also I watched this over 10x now from facebook to yt, vice versa.
Dude. That was straight up scary to watch. Oh and tiresome lol! Amazing skill set.
@@ambermaryjane4969 yeah the guys a know it all who makes assumptions speaking for other people lol but thats the 2020s for ya
Everyone: “every fight starts standing but eventually ends up on the ground.” This guy: *and I took that personally*
my left knee has been gone for 2 years now and this match made me held it for a dear life..
As someone who studies BJJ it really annoys me when I see people go straight to butt scooting
There was an appreciation for Musimeci's performance in that smile from Imanari.
Efficient and supremely technically sound. You can tell his craft consumes him. Keep up the hard work!
1:09 Mikey has got some unreal in flexibility his ankle.
That was almost hard to watch
Dang, he fought so hard I wanted him to win. It was like watching a boa constrictor wrap around a gazelle. Well done to both competitors
Love the way the ref calls taps, just in case it gets really bad of an submission. Love the way he really kept his eyes peeled.
It's amazing to me how much cooperation grapplers have with each other.
The way he immediately reacted to Imanari addressing the body triangle not once but TWICE by trapping the arm deeper and deeper 😭 just a thing of beauty *chefs kiss*
Butt scooting needs to be penalized.
“Imanari’s only got his chin to defend..” Mikey then uses his OWN chin to attack, helping pin his own hand, securing the lock. Holy Moly.
The best part was the respect and concern for his opponent at the end. 🙏 Good stuff!
I love the respect after. You know he understands how great his opponent has been and that hes a pioneer of the sport. Amazing class along with that superior skill
In a fight, I'm going to lie down and present my crotch to my opponent. What a winning opening move :( I don't know what I'm watching, I'd hesitate to call it a fight.
Congratulations!!!!!! Theres something very primal about this match. Wow.
Very cool! Great to see grappling, Muay Thai, and kickboxing along with MMA in the One lineup. It makes for really entertaining martial arts fight night. Thamks.
That was BOSS-Level!
I just don't like when people start by instantly going to the ground. Terrible self defense tactics. Dont do this outside of a BJJ comp guys! You'll get freaking destroyed
It’s a jiu jitsu match, not a street fight. What does that have to do with anything?
Awesome grappling. Great sportsmanship. I love wrestling did it for many years.
At the beginning I thought for sure Imanari is going to win with some kind of leg lock. To see how the tide turned and how smooth Musemeci dismantled his opponent... beautiful.
That put ART back into Martial Arts.
leg locks are some of the scariest techniques in martial arts, blown acl/mcl or any meniscus tears, blown achilles, torn ligaments in ankle, knee separation… those are just the most terrible injuries , almost hard to watch
In BJJ tho, most experienced leg lock practitioners know how to crank and pause right before the point of injury giving the opponent the chance to tap. Conversely, at the higher levels the guy caught in the lock will recognize when he's got to tap or tear some ligaments/tendons. There's a mutual understanding. Of course accidents happen, but they are much rarer even in competition than you would think. Typically the truly horrible accidents happen when the person caught in the lock refuses to tap due to ignorance of the mechanics of what is happening to their knee/ankle.
@@DennisBLee well said
The reason I really like ONE over other fight promotions is they have events for specific fight styles rather than just mma. So much representation and quirky super matches like rodtang and Demetrius is so fun to watch
Amazing match. This and Bravo vs Gracie are so fun to watch in different ways
I don't think I've ever seen a fight without any strikes thrown great grappling techniques
It was a submission grappling match tho
Amazing body triangle to trap the right arm. After that, it was just a matter of time before the rear-naked choke would finish off the opponent.
Wow.. epic match haven't been so entertained by pure grappling in a long time
Very impressive, with what intensity and doggedness the two men wrestle with each other!
Amazing the way he took over the back.. splended skills
Probably the most uncomfortable fight I've ever seen. Imagine paying the ticket for this lol
Wow, that was a gripping, fascinating and masterful match between a grappling genius and a grappling master.
pretty intense the whole way thru. I could feel my knees ripping.
00:06 This how other half approaches when ready for love make
That was like watching two chess masters predicting the others moves. Cool match
With true sportsmanship at the end. 👏👏
This is the most non violent fight I have ever seen 😊👍👍
Молодец..выиграл..я за него переживала🤗
Absolutely no space given in that back attack. airtight transitions, such control
Imagine someone in a street fight going on their back like that right away. Had me laughing
I know nothing about grappling/jiu jitsu and even I could tell the way he took his back was wildly fast and skillful
Wow. Never heard of this dude before. What a technician. Incredible.
Whenever I see a fight start like this, I stop watching
Good it ain't for you
Exactly laying on his back like number 1 prodigy poosy
If you learn BJJ fundamentals you can watch the sport you already like and love it more, brother.
@@DPtdryste eh, not always. Trained for years on and off. Still cant appreciate the laying down like a pregnant cat, especially in competition.
Wow, so many techniques defensively and offensively that were just perfect.
Imanari has to be almost 50 amazing he's still an elite grappler
Both guys are wearing rash guards and people in the comments are still confused as to why no one is throwing a punch and why the other guy engaged the guy on the ground instead of waiting for the ref to stand him up 😂🤦🏻♂️
I lost brain cells reading those other comments.
Ne pas prendre toutes les personnes pour des idiotes....
Well, to be fair, both guys WERE off-sides twice, and the ref should've called a foul on the Japanese guy for traveling.
Legendary performance. He was like an anaconda slowly wrapping himself around his victim, finding opportunities step by step to victory.
I came to say that looked like a python taking down a lion! Frightening!
That was a work of art...brilliant
Watching this feels like you're watching 2nerds battling at the ground. you cant see any anger in there face but a 2man solving math problems lol.... I want some more rounds but its over... Wish theres another fight like this.
That's the kind of fighting that only works in a ring.
I don't know next time I get in an altercation in a gas station parking lot I was thinking about laying down on my back like that
Works in any scenario where it's one on one fighting.
Top notch grappling.
I love to watch the insane way they copulate each other.
gorgeous technique and smooth transitions
If someone just sits on their butt and scoots around, you should be allowed to kick them in the nuts.😂
Finally a comment that I agree with.
From spectator point of view : starting from the butt shouldn't be allowed, guard pulling shouldn't be allowed and be penalised.
Sounds like an excuse for garbage guard passers.
This guy is human quick sand. 🔥
So this is what One has to offer. Wow, this is very different. They have my attention.
Dude what is this....that guy in the white just lay down in front of the other one as if wanting to get petted or boned....I can't decide which....IDC how good you are at grappling....that's just bare weird! Pffffffft
Anyone who immediately pulls guard and skoots around on their butt to start a match should be fined and have points deducted. Have some self respect
The way he trapped that arm was beautiful! It was pretty much over once that happened.
2 'men' feeling each other up. Great watch
I recognize the skills on display, but it’s just not for me. I prefer a stand up fight.
Of course, why did Masakazu just walk into Musumeci's domain? When a guy starts the fight on the ground, isn't that a signal to you that, where he is, is the last place you want to be?
This is a submission grappling bout. ONE mixes it in with the regular MMA fights.
I think he chose the less flexible leg to engage on. I feel like ligaments were snapping everywhere! 😱 ........
Yo that was some beautiful JJ, respect to both of them!
Some grappling. These two are masters.
Yeah he is crazy skilled but starting on your back like that is an embarrassment to the sport. Imagine being that good at grappling and yet you couldn't beat anyone that decides to just walk away
yes, sitting down (can't even call this pulling guard) should be forbidden imo, penalized or heavily discouraged. it is, as you say. an embarrassment
And some have the audacity to call this a “fight”
This isn't a streetfight, it's a highly technical grappling match. By pulling guard he was just playing to his strength
@@blake4038 no its grappling and he is neglecting half of it, I wouldn't call that a strength.
@@blake4038 he didn't even pull guard. he just sat down. i can at least acknowledge the utility of properly pulling guard
1:09 Aaaaah 😬😬 I feel the pain of his ankle. Still some Casual will say it's boring 😂.
I thought the same thing too! I had to rewatch it, and on closer inspection it looks like the ankles just getting stretched, but dang they pushed the limits. With the click of the cameras and the ref calling out for points I thought it was a break lol. I was cringing when Imanari started trying to get the heel around 1:30. It didn't look like a good position for a heel hook, but if someone could get it to work it would be one of these two.
I loved how in the end he began to trap each limb so as to make escape possible.
I'm by no means knowledgeable about BJJ but I could tell that guys got that 'something special. He makes it look RIDICULOUSLY easy. That backtake was insane!
