Rogue Legacy 2 is likely one of the best indie games of 2021. Cellar Door games has clearly taken everything they learned in the first iteration and taken it to the next level improving the story, the bosses, the biomes, the classes, and even adding a number of quality of life upgrades. Not only is Rogue Legacy 2 better, but it is also shaping up to be bigger with even more classes, bosses, biomes, and upgrade mechanics than the original Rogue Legacy 1. Clearly Rogue Legacy 2 is going to be a blockbuster of a game when it releases version 1.0 later this year, but let's discuss the details...

Absolutely love this series, just got into RL2 on Steam and loving it even more than the first, which is a modern classic already.
Regarding the Biomes, each Biome has preferred - and even unique - Monster and Trap types. In addition, the later Biomes often feature Metroidvania elements, wherein it's impossible (or unreasonably difficult) to progress through them if you don't have movement-enhancing Runes and certain Heirlooms. It's not just room layouts and overall map shape that are Biome-dependent.
as far as the enemies that also applies to the first game. youre right about the traps and heirlooms tho

I played Rogue Legacy 1 and as much as I had fun with the game, I admitted you could also play a lot of cheesey strat in the game after playing it for few hours. For example, wonder why the Astromancer flying ability lasts few seconds or the permanent flying boots cause you to take extra damage while flying? In RL1, the Dragon Knight class has that ability as... an innate ability. You can fly the whole game with zero downside except being brought down after being hit by enemy. I beat the game using that strat alone. Whatever cheesey strats work in old Rogue Legacy becomes obsolete in the sequel or being reworked to give it more punishment

Silly question, but at 5:00 it looks like there are six boss portraits in the starting room. There are only five in my version. Did a boss get cancelled/patched out?
I haven't heard them say that, but it's possible they scaled back a bit. I think they're trying to launch v1 this year so they may have made that change. It is likely that they add stuff post launch too like they did with Rogue Legacy 1. In the event that pull back for v1 I'm fairly confident that content would get rolled out in a v1.1 or something like that.
@@pixel0 Oh, I'm not too worried. I've really been enjoying it. I'm actually a big fan of the first game and bought it at launch, and decided to let it sit and wait for 1.0, but lockdown boredom broke me down. Game's great! Still, six biomes/bosses are better than five!

1:43 You said that there are 8 base classes, but in fact, there are 10 of them. The dragon and traitor classes are end-game acquisitions.

Ive tried RL2 and likes it but one thing that really annoyed me is that the dash attacks and even weapons that auto fash forward still don't stop you from contact hits. So they are completely useless

I've been playing both games. RL1 is definetly better, by far! RL2 ist just way to complex, making you read texts and texts and more texts... which is just not fun! RL1 is just awesome!!
Just started rl2 on ps5 and was so stoked to play it. It’s good but I don’t think the changes were anything crazy. Maybe when I’m further it’ll be better
You and me both. I stopped publishing videos while this game was early access and never finished it. Now I'm going to actually finish the game on PS5 which is awesome. Funny thing is I bought it on switch like 3 weeks ago so now I got it in both places.
My only complaint about 2 is the characters have a goofball look to them they didn't have in 1.
I think that's kind of the point it even says when you unlock wizard "beards are mandatory even on women" so I think that they're going for more of a cartoonish look and honestly I like it it sets the game out from other dungeon crawlers does it need it no does it make it better up to the person playing but in the end I think it's an upgrade
Unlocking armor and relics in 80% of the challenges is near impossible. It makes the game feel broken. I'm 70% done w the game and still am using the 3rd armor and 4 relics
Edit - I just got the Ronin and Astromancer class. Since that I been able to complete 90% of the challenges.
The graphics look like a mobile game tho, I prefer the first one.

Son, "unique" is an absolute adjective, meaning it can't be further modified. There is no "very unique".
Language is fluid and unique can, and does, accept a gradient.

The second game's art style is pure shit.
I mean its different and I can see why you wouldn't like it but in my opinion it gives the characters more personality the old game just has a generic knight if you put it beside any other knight you wouldn't be able to really tell that much of a difference while in this game it has its own hair style color and different clothes for each class but again it's my opinion witch isn't fact
