  • BlueGabe. The crawfish died because they could not breathe because the oxygen in the water was depleted but if you set your trap with some of it sticking out the water the Crawfish can also breathe air as long as their gills are wet. Check out the pillow trap design which is used in the swamp and the pyramid trap used in ponds, both designs stick out the water

  • Kelly, easiest way to back up a trailer: Put your dominate hand at the bottom of the steering wheel. You want the trailer to go right? Move your hand/wheel to the right (counter clockwise). Want the trailer to go left? Move your hand/wheel to the left (clockwise). Once you do this enuf it will come second nature & you can concentrate on other things like, keeping the tires in your lane, etc. Im an unusual woman with unusual skills for a woman, I fly, ride a Harley & Design America's Elec Dist Grid. Hope this helps you. Great Vids of LA, one of my FAV places! 👍

  • Your trip on the barge was easy. In the 60's, We lived in northwest Tennessee. When we wanted to visit my uncle, in Northeast Arkansas, we had to cross the Mississippi River on a barge. I can remember riding on the barge, when it was so full, that they had my mother pull on the barge and put on the emergency brake, because the trunk was hanging off. They had to pull the chain under the back of the car, behind the back tires.

  • in the 1950's, my Grandfather took me crawfishing North of Laplace on Hwy 61 (to Baton Rouge). We'd drop those nets in the drainage ditches next to road, and almost as quickly as they were placed, he'd go to the other end and start hauling up tons of mudbugs. These were the wire hoop topped nets, picked up with a strong cane pole, the bait held onto the bottom with a huge safety pin. When all the hamper baskets were full, we went home to purge, rinse and boil. Uum uum good.

It lived in a ceramic log and it would go wild for that fish. The log would shake as it fought the fish and orange fish scales would come out of the log. Just dumb frat fun.

  • First off that truck's a beauty . Second I get a little worried about you and Kelly burning the candle at both ends . I used to drive instate rigs and out of state and caffeine has real fast off switch . One minute you feel " okay " then LIGHTS OUT . I thought I was indestructible and could go for a couple of days with no sleep . Then about 3 am one morning I felt a big bump and it was me flying over the center median and skidding to the shoulder on the wrong side . Once again God was looking out for his favorite knucklehead ( me ) and the highway was empty . All I had to do was drive back to the right side and let my heart out of my throat . I would rather you miss a day working ...get some sleep and be safe . I really don't mean to lecture . I just know how lucky I was . We would much rather you be careful and live to film another day . PK

  • Gabe, Glad you finally got some good crab pots. Been crabbing in Chesapeake bay my whole life, and these are what you need. Don't be disappointed when they don't catch a lot right off. They need to be in the water for a couple weeks to get the new "stink" off of 'em. Look forward to some good crabs for steaming!!! Best Crab Seasoning...: 1 part Old Bay, to 1 part Kosher Salt, to 1/4 part ground red pepper. mix and sprinkle heavily as you layer them in the steam pot for cooking.

    • We boil crabs on the gulf coast…..which puts the seasoning inside the crab where it belongs, not on the outside of the shell. I’m not knocking steamed crabs though, had plenty in Virginia and Maryland and they were good. Excellent crab cakes as well. I prefer boiled seafood because it’s what I grew up eating. Folks on the Chesapeake grew up eating steamed crabs and that’s what they like. Blue crabs are awesome either way!
