  • On the overdose story: I have chronic pancreatitis causing me alot of pain where I take pain pills all the time. I also get periodic flare ups where the pain is so bad I end up in the ER followed by admission to the hospital. Around June last year I went to the ER in severe pain. Because of lack of staff, beds, and other things I waited 16 hours in the waiting room. They couldn't get my pain under control but couldn't admit me so I was sent home. At home I didn't know what to do so I took extra of my pain medicine. It didn't help so I took some more. Long story short I OD'd lucky my family found me and called 911.

    • It looks like there are two other incidents reports, from this neighborhood, from the past few days: #1- April 8th- A man approached a woman walking in the area, put his hand around her waist and then put her hand down the side of her shorts. The woman then pushed away and when she did, her shorts partially came down. As she pulled her shorts back up, the man put his arm around her waist for a second time, according to the incident report. #2 - April 10- a woman was walking when a man approached her and picked up a baby who was with her. The woman said he tried to walk away with the baby but she grabbed the child back. She said this happened three times before she told the man it was not her baby and she "did not have the right to allow people to hold the child." She then went home and said she wanted to prosecute, but no charges have been filed, according to the incident report.

He has been very open and honest about how much he made from it, and has been extremely generous towards his moderators and giving to charity. • People take and destroy, claiming this behavior is natural. Justifying colonization, genocide, rape, the patriarchy, wars, murder. we created the most horrific things in existence and blame it on our need for survival. "They needed to die" "we're made to procreate" "that's life" When we want to find healthy energy sources, we say oil is the only way. Even if it means taking land from natives and killing planet earth... We dont stop murdering innocents in the middle east because they hate us, they'll attack us... Because we invaded and harmed them first, for 🛢. Girls cannot show skin or exist without men claiming their body is their born right. People of different skin colors or races are always seen as outsiders and threats. Because we're so conditioned to hate. We pretend like these things are normal. We think that we have to live in fear. Hate, grovel, harm, and abandon. We can go out with one bomb. One nuke can destroy this planet and everything we know because of wars nobody even wants to fight anymore. Last man to survive. Because nobody can share.

I miss him so much, and this should have never happened to him or so many others who have died. There are so many bad drugs floating around now and I wish the stigma around drug use wasn't as harsh as it is. These people are our brothers, sisters, mother's, fathers and even more relations than I can name. They are not to be pushed aside to fall into the cracks... I know we all want to turn a blind eye, but Phil, please do a story on this even if it isn't the best for your monetisation. I know you to be a person who always says the hard stuff, even if you might get hit on the backend. Do me a favour and speak for the lost souls who have met their end due to terrible drugs running rampant in both Canada and America. I think more lives have been touched by these deaths than covid. I'm one who never thought I would lose a brother before I hit 40, before he hit 40. He was keeping the other guy where he was because he was too busy arguing when he could have just briefly approached him or whatever and let him leave. It's not like the first guy was gonna park himself in his driveway - he would have been gone in a minute or two and nothing more would have happened. Petland(?)'s biggest issue was that he was needlessly aggressively escalating things, even if he was indeed defending his wife and other people from the other guy's harassment. The other guy was trying to keep calm so he can just go, and that's not gonna help Petland's defense.

  • As a black guy who is basically harmless but looks intimidating to some people, people will claim your very existence in their line of sight as being harassment, and anything even remotely mistaken as approaching them as attempted assault. The fact that the black man in the video has two prior assault accusations, but hasn't been arrested, gives me the impression that these people have likely called the police on him before for simply going about his day. Why was the person recording? I doubt it was because they were protecting the black man. More than likely, it's because they were hoping for or fully expecting a physical confrontation, and wanted evidence to back up the soldier's "street justice," similar to the Ahmaud Arbery case.

    • You might want to read what the two other accusations are saying: #1- April 8th- A man approached a woman walking in the area, put his hand around her waist and then put her hand down the side of her shorts.

  • Edit to add that obviously if someone is walking around minding their own business, just leave them alone. The following is an example of what can be done if you think that someone is bothering another peraon or creeping around looking into houses, ect. The point is: physical violence is way too far for the situation. I live in a mining town so a lot of the population are miners and they are tough, but they know how to deal with people who may be threats. What they do is make sure they're clearly visible and ask "hi, I don't think I've met you, where are you from?" In a friendly tone and have a conversation. If the stranger made someone uncomfortable they say "well now looks like you've made someone uncomfortable and that's not how we are around here. Why don't you keep on moving so they don't get any more uncomfortable." It gets the message across in a firm yet non-threatening manner and they call the police if more is needed. No shoving, just making sure the stranger knows that they're there and won't back down. Of course if it turns out to be a misunderstanding they make sure to clear that up and usually (in non-covid times) invite them in for a drink or recommend a place to eat. Resorting to violence right away only escalates the situation and unless there is real and imminent danger to a life there is no need to get physical.

One time, while she was riding a public bus, a man sexually harassed her by repeatedly asking her intrusive/explicit questions and asking her out. Other people on the bus helped her by pretending they were her friends, and drew her into a conversation with them to get away from him. They even got off at her stop to make sure she was safe and that the harasser wouldn't follow her. I don't really know what harassment laws are like in the UK, so I'm not sure if the harasser's behavior was illegal. But regardless of legality, these kinds of situations can happen a lot to women, and it's really nice (not nosy) when strangers are willing to step in and help.

  • The story about OD is really heartbreaking. Being stuck alone with no where to go in such a bleak time in history. It doesn't surprise me at all. 2020 was the worst year of my life (and many others), started with a betrayal from a close friend. Friend group threw a party and he went on to sexually assault my sister. We'd all been downstairs while she was in bed (more of a lightweight than the rest of us) when he went back in "to go to bed". It is still something that is incredibly raw in my mind, knowing that I introduced the man that would hurt my sister and bestfriend like that. I was there and it happened right under my nose.. would have bet my life he wouldn't do something like that before that night/morning. I wish more than anything I could take her pain away. Then covid hitting the world, so many people dying and seemingly no light at the end of the tunnel. Not being able to see friends or family while drowning in guilt, betrayal, & devastation. Mom & Grandparents getting covid, myself quarantining completely alone for a month & half. Not being able to do anything while my Mom watched her Dad die, not knowing if her Mom or herself was next. Burying my Grandpa bc of covid. I am not proud to admit but I struggled (and continue) with pills and self harm. Bc if I'm high I can at least get some peace of mind. Really sucks. After the media leaves and nobody cares anymore do you know what happens? The insurance companies deny payouts to the small businesses that were destroyed. They’re ruined financially and won’t rebuild. They can’t. The insurance companies then raise premiums on all surrounding businesses that are remaining. This usually drives the rest out of business. There go the jobs and with it the tax revenue which pay for schools, welfare programs, community infrastructure, etc. No new businesses will come in because of the insurance premiums being so high and the history of riots. Too risky. Rioted areas die. Who are they hurting by doing this? Themselves. What is it solving? Nothing. The big box businesses and larger privately owned businesses are leaving these areas in droves, taking even more opportunities with them. They aren’t willing to risk more losses. Then, you have the innocent people who have lost everything they tried to build in communities they cared about. I’m all for protesting. I fully support it even if I don’t support the message all the time. It should be protected. But, taking it past that and cheering that on? Incredibly destructive and short sighted. I keep hearing, “oh, insurance pays”. Even if that were true, and it’s just not, how much do you get when your car is wrecked? Your house burns? Or is flooded? How easy is it to get them to pay? It’s not. Imagine getting them to pay for your whole business, which they would only pay what you paid what you can prove and what it’s worth at the time. Even if they pay you’re only seeing a fraction of what you invested. You’re never seeing the potential profits, that’s gone forever. You’re ruined as a small business owner. Tax revenue for the community-gone forever. You just killed that community. Not to mention many of these businesses have been crippled due to the lockdowns and lapsed on insurance, were barely surviving, don’t have the catastrophic coverage on their insurance to even begin to make such an insurance claim. (They’re still being denied at an almost 100% rate, btw.) Only big boxes can absorb such losses and pickup and move on. They’re likely never rebuilding in these areas. Target is moving it’s headquarters out of Minneapolis. Many headquarters have been moved in recent months taking thousands of jobs and millions in tax revenue with them. They’re going to places that this doesn’t happen. Expound those losses. Remember the elderly people crying? Imagine you needed your heart medication and it’s gone now because the pharmacy was looted. Nearest pharmacy is who knows how far. They have to go thru so many hoops to get it again, pay out of pocket money they don’t have. Times that by a thousand, 2 thousand. Nope. Cannot support this. Nobody should. It’s easy to cheer it when you’re not living in it. You’re cheering an execution of a different variety.

My uncle was arrested for drug possession, my parents at their worst were drinking a handle of whisky a day until my mother had to be rushed to a hospital where they found a heart valve defect and liver damage (now she doesn't drink and my dad has at most a light beer a day), and a family friend died from doing heroine laced with fentanyl. • I think it’s important to note that my employer, and many others both in the same field and in my area, have been struggling to find someone to hire for months now. Not out of lack of trying, but lack of applicants, which is almost never the case in my field (insurance). My agency offers VERY generous pay, pays for cost of licensing, is a great environment to work in (which was evident to me on my first conversation with the owner and he’s been able to keep employees and clients for a long time because of it,) but we have had maybe a total of 4 applicants in 2 months, even after raising our pay by $1/hour and increasing commission. I did some research about this because my last agency owners AND an agent who has tried to hire me for years all three told me the same thing - they’ve been searching for months. I read a Business Insider article suggesting that this could be for two reasons. 1) people may earn more on unemployment at this point. I don’t believe that’s the primary reason personally, because I don’t believe most people *want* to be out of work . It’s not a good feeling, even earning more money, it takes a personal toll (at least it did on me). 2) people were applying vigilantly after losing work this time last year when COViD shut down so many of our businesses, and they got so many NOs that they got discouraged and kind of stuck to this lifestyle of home-based-everything. That seems more plausible to me... it can be devastating to be rejected over and over and OVER for work, especially when you’re well qualified and can’t get back into your own field of expertise, you become tired of applying. I believe that could be a big contributor to the employment problem. We’re at a point where there are more jobs available than people applying and I understand and agree that it is very difficulty to go back into the workforce after a long break. I think people are intimidated and that’s fair. Also, so many people now have kids in a hybrid school/home based system, and have reworked their entire schedules to fit in being HOME more, it seems unlikely that most businesses will be able to return a normal full-office-work schedule. My husband works for Sony (one of the HQ offices at PlayStation here in San Diego) and they’ve been closed for over a year with no forseeable set date to open back up for employees. Working from home has worked so well for them, even and especially during the production of the ps5 which my husband was part of, they’ve given him approval to work from home out of state so we can move back to where our family is to have our first baby. That’s something that is so opposite of just three years ago when we moved here *for* that job offer from across the country because they wanted him in office in person within two weeks of accepting the offer. It’s interesting to see and follow, but for those of us whose jobs require in-person training and monitoring for at least the beginning, we’re having a hard time finding people who are both qualified and interested, whereas this time a year ago, I had to compete to earn this position and there were dozens of other applicants. I hope people are able to find the trust to start applying for work in person again, it’s really essential to re-starting the economy, especially here in California where we’re struggling to get back up. Love you Philly D.

His job is to teach new recruits how to be respectable and functional members of the army, sadly his actions demonstrate what the army considers acceptable standards and practices of the branches service members. This story makes me feel bad for the men and women who take the job seriously, hold themselves to the highest of standards, and hold the title of drill sergeant with honor and pride. By forcing people to stay inside and then wrecking their social lives, jobs, etc. they were left with little to do, and turned to escapism. Those who couldn't read, game, hobby, or binge watch their way through it were inevitably going to turn to something else, and drugs are something else to do when bored. Too much drugs, or doing drugs when you're a noob, leads to more ODs. So it makes perfect sense, really.

  • I feel like if the guy was actually being a creep around people in the neighbourhood including what looked like a young girl in the video then the guy who was asked to intervene didn't go too far. All he did was shove the guy in the video and tell him to leave. Sometimes being intimidating is the only way to get someone to stop. In saying this, we didn't see what happened beforehand and if the guy was creeping on people or how they tried to stop him at first. I don't live in America so maybe it's different for you guys.

    • Or, maybe there’s more to this story. It looks like there are two other prior incidents reports, from this neighborhood: #1- April 8th- A man approached a woman walking in the area, put his hand around her waist and then put her hand down the side of her shorts.

  • In addition to Ludwig, there was a much smaller group on twitch that was doing the same thing in March: GameAttack. They have less than 30k followers and started the month at #85 of most subbed to channel on Twitch, but their community and communities of some of the other streamers they collabed with (Kinda Funny, Ray, Bruce Green) gifted enough subs to put them at #6 at the end of March. The ended up it a bunch more subs than they do followers. And at the same time of doing this, they were part of GFuel's March Madness type of promotion, and they got 2nd place, which got them their own shaker in the future.
