Really Jeff, as a perpetual learner, you never exist in your comfort zone, but then this is what makes you so popular, you bait us to stretch our boundries. Thanks for this.
Thanks mate. I am really looking forward to tackling something a little bit different this time :D
Tip Before wasting your time repairing rust figure out what you need to do to mount the cab to the bus frame. You may find that you will need to cut up the repairs if you do them first. You may actually want to leave the bus floor intact and fit the cabin to that junking the truck floor. There’s a guy who’s done a few F100 Crown Victoria swaps where he’s done it both ways , using the car floor and firewall and dash or just using the frame. Both ways he still had to modify the cabin floor etc.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT about repair or replacing the floor and especially firewall. Do all that after the cab is fitted to the bus chassis. There is going to be some cutting.
Seeing all the spider webs is giving me the heeby geebys
Glad you had Mrs Jeff's muscle to help you out.
Impact screw driver. The most underrated tool in the world.
Yep. Ideal for removing disc retaining screws that are always chewed up.
Discovered mine in the 70s , a must for the Japanese Phillips head butter bolts on their motorcycle's
@@johngibson3837 Baha, was cursing those buggers stripping a bike yesterday. One day I'll get JIS (Japanese industry standard) screwdriver. Or just keep replacing them 😂
Hands down.
Also oxy acetylene spanner works well.
Pretty funny watching a fireman using a angle grinder in long grass during summer😂 Love your videos Jeff!
The most amzing thing is that you managed to work on the cabin in that bushy grassland for so long without getting attacked and eaten by spiders and snakes... Aussie clichés FTW 😁
Jeff with Australia’s propensity for vicious spiders, I would have had a guy standing by with a flame thrower!😬🕷️
" I reckon it would be really cool to have the old horn in the truck". You get it Jeff. You really get it Mate.
I like the cut the back idea. Make a front cab bus with a flat deck. I think it would be an interesting vehicle.
I am.just gonna be here every Sunday for my weekly dose of HBBJ
That old radio needs to be safed and retrofitted 👍
Those old 292 ford motors were awesome
Jeff, you have a unique and valuable way of making any project you tackle fun and interesting to watch, and keeping Mrs. Jeff’s commentary just adds icing to the cake! Thanks for inviting us along on your new car hauler/truck modification journey!
Great start, Jeff! I noticed on the steering column was an aftermarket self cancelling blinker switch. Having owned a vintage 1929 Dodge, I can tell you these things are hard to get in any condition. I would urge you to contact a local vintage car club and offer it for sale. They are the ideal solution to put blinkers on cars that weren't designed for them. Cheers, mate, can't wait to see progress on Effie.
Interesting. I have no idea about these old things, but I am keen to learn. That was something I really thought was just junk, but I am keen to re-home as many bits of it as I can.
Jeff, there are dedicated truck restorers club members who may be interested in the rest of it as a parts source vehicle, too. Cheers.
“Should be a relatively easy project” …..let’s see how that works out 👍😎
This is gonna be so cool, but it looks like Mrs. Jeff did most of the work removing the cab from the frame😂
Yep I agree. All about Mrs Jeff's muscles that helped. 😆
I love Mrs Jeff at the end. It is like whatching Jackie Chang at the end of is movies. Please don´t stop. Jeff, you are an inspiration for all of us. all the best from Portugal.
Im excited for new vehicle on the channel. Congrats! Instead of repairing the cab, maybe mount the cab to the new frame. Incase you might need to chop off the cab to fit. Then end up chopping your repaired sections. Maybe to save time and headache with body work, send it off to get it sand blasted.
Absolutely buzzing about this built and I don’t know why.
Based on the reliability of your builds you need this
Great start on the new project Jeff. Can’t wait to see what you have planned.
Jeff, I’ve watched all your Alferrari episodes, now starting to enjoy this new project. Please, please change your music!!! It’s doing my head in!!
This is gonna be a fantastic project! Should be plenty of patch panels etc available from the US, should you need them.
Tip I learned from my grandfather on rusty screws was to use the impact driver to first tighten (on first hit) then loosen
Yay! Ford truck project time!
Mrs. Jeff seems relieved to not have to speak Italian anymore.
Straw hat and angle grinder is the most australian combo i've seen in a while! 😅
Just missing the Queensland steel caps
Seeing as none of your past projects have been back-to-original restorations, i dont think any of your viewers are gonna be too upset about cutting up the column on a rusty old truck. Youre still putting new life into something that was basically dead and gone.
I was thinking that the easiest was of removing the steering column was to cut it off and was pleased to hear your rationale for doing so. Then you got on with it. Cheers from Tasmania.
Aaaah. The fragrant Mrs Jeff…
Yeah! A build up my alley. I have a 1956 F-100.
Looking forward to watching this progress
The firsf purposeful car on the channel. The rest are poinless 😊
It’s great you can get an engineer to sign off on a body swap in OZ 😎 ,it opens it up for more interesting projects . Looking forward to see how all this comes together and extending the spray booth 😁. Cheers
Super cool project, newer running gear is a good choice!😂
Excited to see this project get started!
Mrs. Jeff was like: “Finally, no more Italian pronunciations!”
I think it's unfair that you include Mrs Jeff's bloopers and not your own Jeff! 😂👌
'Maybe it needs a kick!' 😂👌
Holy crap! Alberta represent.
Really looking forward to this build too mate! 🚙 All the best with it!
Jeff - I see a progression here: small sports cars, small sport sedan, big truck, next is tank (with Aus Armor???) 😁 Although body looks to be in good shape, the real test will be what it looks like after being media blasted. My bet is there is a whole lot more hidden rust through not showing yet. Still, all in all, for a body that old on a work truck that was shown no love, it is in great shape. Looking forward to this build and all the new tools you are going to get.
Love this project! Can’t wait to watch more episodes
Great to hear that there’s a Canadian connection. 🇨🇦
Love the new project.. ❤.. Greetings from South Africa! 😊
That's a nice project. And as always the best comes at the end.🙂
Really looking forward to this build. Eager to see your ideas and vids. Love your using old ford cab. Smart to use chassis and newer bus set up. Save lot of work and money.
Goeff so glad you started this new project. I have restored lots of classic cars and built a few hot rods. The last 5% of a build can really sap your mojo, so to keep your sanity you need this. And when you come to finish the Alfarrari you will have a better mindset. Looking forward to this build.
Well done Mrs Jeff. You and Jeff make a good team moving truck cabs!
I have been looking forward to this build ever since you first gave us a glimpse. This is going to be epic!
It’s 1 am here and I’m having trouble sleeping. This is the perfect excuse to get up and turn on the TV. This project is going to be awesome
Hope you keep the radio, get it restored :)
I'm looking forward to this build..
Excited to see you getting into this new project Jeff!✌️👍
Thanks mate. It should be fun :D
So good to see this build getting started. The repairs does´t look too scary after seeing what you have done to your other builds. And we get to see Mrs Jeff in a new series, just love to see you two interact together
So excited for this build!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks Mr. & Mrs. Jeff. I've been waiting for this moment, starting up your truck project. That might lead inspiration to my own Scania L56 project (less drastic though).😉
All the bolts are coming out easily.......nek minnit ;)
I am so looking forward to this build, freaking cool!
Great new project, can't wait
Looks like you are working in redback territory!! Nice work!!
Mrs Jeff in with the muscles to help ya mate 💪
You may want to wait on ordering patch panels until you've had a chance to test fit the truck cab on the bus frame - some parts of the floor, the lower edge of the back of the cab, etc. may have to be modified to the point where the patch panels won't be used. Also, I'll bet the truck had a 6 volt system, so the original horn may sound like a wounded goat when connected to 12 volts. 🙂
So excited for this series, thanks Jeff! Fun facts were epic fr
Glad to see the truck build start. I’ve done a bunch of 1/2 tons and have lots of parts if you can find something I can ship you some stuff from the USA mate. -Spanky
So.......Mrs Jeff is now getting her hands dirty.......well done!
Excellent job Jeff! Been really looking forward to this build mate! Its going to be awesome! 👌😎🏴🇬🇧
Good luck man ! Will follow this one to support as I did with the previous ones !
Good to have a strong helper around to lift truck cabs😊
Keep that bus original. And keep the truck original. That engine in the truck can be made to make incredible amounts of power and are easy to overhaul.
Can't wait to see more of the Forsan, or nissord 600
Can’t wait to see you chopping that bus!
That's the part I'm looking forward to too. Its going to be a little bit of a bumpy ride. Some jobs might need to be done twice 🙈😉
I'll adopt the Tex Magna indicator unit if it's going to scrap. :) Common indicator unit used on series land Rovers. I'm looking forward to the F truck bus conversion. Such a good combo.
Hey! things are not momentous in Australia! The are MONUMEMTOUS! Especially, when they are home built by Jeff! ^____-
Great video, brings back so many memories. Cut my teeth on a 1956 F100 that my dad bought when I was 14. F600 is in awesome shape. You're so lucky the glass was intact. Looking forward to this project. Mahalo for sharing! : )
yeah!! This is a super nice new project, I am very curious to see how it will turn out and I will continue to follow, good luck 💪🏻🍀🙂
Love this project!!
i was excited to see this video in my feed. this’ll be an awesome project
you have to use that radio in the final build, at least the the shell and dials, maybe have them control a newer, hidden one.
Might be dumb but you could put that scoop above the windscreen on the bus into the bonnet of the truck ;)
I love these slow calm sunday mornings, having coffee and fresh bread, along with yet another Home Built by Jeff video... Looking forward to follow this very exiting new project. Greetings from Denmark.
The only way this could be cooler is if it were a COE. I know this will be another stunner.
Alberta plates! Wooooo
Get it dipped. Bet you find many more holes.
Good to see you got one ov the lads in to help lift that body, was looking like they did most ov the work. Surprised you're not wanting a V8 in this build
Rego is a killer in Australia for V8s
@@b3nny90 didn't know that, so guessing my old FJ landcrusier with the 351 would be the same
Personally, i would lift the bus body and see what needs to be done to fit, using the bus floor which is newer and should be both stronger (for walking on, not just resting your feet on) and already part of the chassis on top. That way you could maybe channel and drop the cab, potentially saving yourself a ton of work....
I was one of those weirdos that had a Coaster as a motorhome. Not sure if what you suggested would work. The Coaster cab has the Engine basically sitting beside the driver. It has an access panel to do work and servicing that sits over the top of the engine, so not sure if the floor from the Coaster would help. Unless I’m missing your point lol.
@RobCantle i am suggesting to lift the bus body first Then place the Ford cab By cutting the cab floor out - the engine would be under the bonnet and the driver back, you may be able to use some of the newer bus floor instead of rebuilding Ford floor. Obviously you are going from engine beside to engine forward of driver. The possible floor section you may be able to use is already crafted and molded for the bus chassis. It may be possible to channel the Ford cab so it sits lower on the canter chassis. So it may be a thought to lift bus body before repairing Ford cab. That could open up something completely different to what one planned.....
Hi Jeff It’s great that you can get an engineer to approve a body swap in OZ 😎 . Look’s like it will be a great project 👍👍👍
Soooo pumped for this. I laughed so much when you went around it poking holes like it was butter like "yea no problem, mostly solid, great floor..." 😂
Your towtruck needs airride ,wild wheels. And same color as the Alfa ferrari
yessss, I was waiting for this one to get sarted
Mrs Jeff being the mvp as always
As someone who put MANY kms on a Coaster bus (I learned to drive in one) I can say they're not the best driving vehicles out there. Better than the old F truck, but theres still a lot to be desired!
I almost suffocated holding my breath waiting for you to start on the F600 Coaster, I can breathe easy now :)
Looks like Mrs Jeff is going to get a build credit! lovin it!
Awesome! Great start to your latest project. I for one am keen to watch every segment as I learn many things watching your work which assist me in my projects. The "Fun Facts with Mrs. Jeff" also awesome. Congrats. Best from the SW United States.
Brings back memories when we built a ‘55 F100 in late 70’s here in No. Carolina. Several (many?) junkyards had these trucks towards the back fence.
Great stuff mate best project yet
Hi Jeff and Mrs Jeff love your channel been subscribed for years now .this truck project is a ripper the Coaster chassis is already lower than the F series which is a great start and such a realy reliable running gear I've done a few conversations myself it is great fun . there is a you tube channel called Hard Core Fab doing a similar project . much respect for all your talent and content cheers from Victoria
Nice hat, Katherine Hepburn. I kid. BTW, I bought my dream 1969 GTV this week.
