  • I really don't get the hate on bruno, its not his fault for winning. On top of that he put together a sweet album that was a love letter to 80s and 90s rnb, new jack swing, and funk. Sure it wasn't as thought provoking or personal as damn or melodrama, but I think people nowadays just forget how to have a good time, and 24k magic did that and introduces newcomers to old school music that alot of overlook from the past

  • So after years of everyone complaining about how underrated Bruno was, and years of him giving the most energetic, “funk-tastic” , and consistent performances, after he revived the old school, jazz, r&b, Michael meets Prince meets James Brown meets the island sounds, after all of this...folks are complaining that he won everything. You had years of Adele winning and Sam Smith winning and most inexplicably...Taylor Swift winning, but everyone complains about this guy. Miss me with that. Obviously Kendrick and Gambino and Jay and Lorde had incredible albums, they’re nominated. But just because his music makes you want to move and groove doesn’t discount how amazing the album was from a musical standpoint. No one’s is ever going to be completely happy with who wins, but people act like Bruno didn’t put in the work to get here smh. Keep the funk alive Bruno 🔥🔥🔥✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾 Sidenote-for all those complaining about Lorde or whatever, y’all better have been complaining when To Pimp a Butterfly didn’t win Album of the Year, because that in my opinion was the biggest snub I’ve seen in years. That album wasn’t just music, that album was a movement.

    • The album of the year winner always goes to those who had more success and impact on pop culture. Kendrick released great albums but never broke out to impact music itself, music that the masses know and love, I think DAMN is his only album that has done that. None of the other nominees did that this year but Bruno which makes sense to why he won. Over the years the winners impacted pop culture, Adele did it better than Bey, Taylor did it better than Kendrick. But 1989, 25, and 24K Magic were amazing albums that defined popular and successful music of that year. DAMN did that too though, but 24K Magic did it better. Who knows maybe next year they’ll pick something of quality over quantity, but we never know. Rap quickly becoming a dominant force in pop culture though so in a few years a Rapper will win, I don’t know if it’ll be Kendrick though

    • RJ Salinas His song Alright literally became the song of BLM. That album TPAB did more than impact pop culture, it impacted the entire black community. It was beautiful political commentary on the state of the community and the world around us. That’s why I say I’d never heard an album like it. No album this year, not even DAMN did that as well as TPAB. But that’s just my opinion

Back in 2012, you were one of the biggest snubs because Adele got all the trophies you deserved to win! Then, you slowly excelled by winning the 2014 Best Pop Vocal Album for Unorthodox Jukebox! Your success continued by the release of your song with Mark Ronson: "Uptown Funk", which won the 2016 Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance! Then, you got credit as a producer in Adele's album 25, which won the 2017 Album of the Year you also won! You got 5 trophies! Unexpectedly and suddenly, this year 2018, you dominated it all by winning 6 more Grammys: Record and Album of the Year & Best R&B Album for 24K Magic; and Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance, & Best R&B Song for "That's What I Like", bringing your total Grammy wins to 11! Look how far you've come, Bruno Mars! Your parents will be so proud of your musical progress especially your mother! Oh, even Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and Prince will be so proud of you! • I feel so sorry for Lorde. You could read the disappointment on her face. i don't disqualify/ invalidate Bruno's work but damn Melodrama was a true masterpiece, one of those rare albums that come very seldom nowadays and make you feel everything; she put so much passion in it and it's flawless both musically and lyrically. And her voice is chilling. Goes to show that the grammys are subjective and sometimes hard to understand. That said I hope that Mars enjoyed his success, he too worked hard on his album.

And in order for him to do that he recreate or made an oldskul R&B sounding album. made an entire album full of R&B songs that has the sound of each decade since R&B was invented.. People want joy, fun, a throw back to a time when music made you FEEL some sort of way like Michael, Prince, Kool & The Gang, New Edition, Earth Wind & Fire, etc., and he gives us all of those artists rolled into one where we don’t have to feel like we’ve lost those types of talents with the passing of MJ & Prince. Hell, even Smokey Robinson said that Bruno is the current “Man”, so IMO the torch has been passed and this generation has their own living legend they can enjoy who can inspire the way those legends did. He just has that “It” factor that you can’t fake.

  • Guys, Bruno worked for 4 years to get his new album done. The last one was released on 2012, and then the new one was released on 2016. So he deserved all the prizes he won. I'm not saying the other artists didn't work hard on their album, music's, etc, but Bruno's album also was very variable, which made all ages shake what they got, the ass.

    • Todd Bross I just searched really quickly a little bit about Lord's new album and saw that she didn't do it mostly by herself, there are other who helped her to write and produce. And all the people on the stage with Bruno are most of his band members. For me, Bruno Mars is a Band and not one singer, cause all of they work together to make the best. Sorry for Lord's, but she released her album 7 months ago, so she'll have more chances next Grammy's

  • I'll never get why Melodrama was nominated only for Album of the Year. Like, if you're a contender for best album, then you automatically have one of the best albums in your genre, which in Lorde's case could be pop or alternative. Grammys suck, thank God I stopped watching it when To Pimp A Butterfly did not win Album of the Year.

      @jennycastillo8659@jennycastillo86596 жыл бұрын
    • Exactly Thyea! If the Grammys and critics are to focus on the musical composition and production of the album as opposed to simply the "discussing political and real-world issues or awareness" songs that has message all the time, then 24K Magic DESERVED. That's why the album won. Not to mention the immense production behind his 24K (album) in terms of sound. He also won best mixing btw. But only musicians understand that, sadly :/ :( People often don't get the Grammys is also based off of music, production and composition and 24K Magic had a beautiful quality and a great production value. Not many artists can do that. Bruno made an ALBUM for y'all to dance, that's what he really wanted to do with this album. Music is subjective and everyone has their own opinions indeed, but don't hate on artists like Bruno Mars who has worked their ass off too. Don't put the blame on man who has been working so hard for years, none of this is his fault. Blame it to the Academy, cause they really put bruno in a bad position by making him win after such a politically and socially charged night. Bruno has been SNUBBED FOR YEARS and he’s simply receiving the recognition/ accolades he deserves and he fucking DESERVES IT. He might not or didn’t touch on the issues the world wanted because he focused solely on music and only MUSIC and we're all here for that. It's not all about politics, race, color, gender or sexuality. It's about music bringing us together and having fun despite our differences and Bruno Mars is here to remind us that and I thank him for that. He fucking earned this and DESERVED IT SO MUCH and I'm happy for him.

I gotta admit Kendrick’s album that year was ughhhhhmazing! But I love me some Bruno Mars. Can’t discredit his 2018 album was and is still great. No cap. I still listen to Chunky, That’s What I Like, and Finesse right before I head to work bcos it hypes me up and it’s my first time working night shift like ever. This is very telling how this album is indeed smth that shots life into you! His speech was beautiful and that album deserved that award. Eminem was right about the recording academy. They did that to BTS too (which I recently just started listening to) but for this specific award to be provided as case in point was something I don’t agree though. It’s not wrong when it’s his opinion but this one got it right. For me at least.
