A reconstruction I made this morning.
I've attempted to sequence the footage too, but I'm almost certain that it's not perfect.
Enjoy!

  • And now & Then........ I saw snippets of this in 'The Anthology'.... John, & Yoko & Julian.. they all looked so happy that summer doing this... He probably hadn't yet made his 31st birthday at this point, and yet despite 98% income tax he has a mansion in Surrey, near Ascot, a Rolls-Royce, a LWB Mercedes and more success under his belt than most have in a lifetime. He's so matter of fact and modest.... I wish he had stayed at that lovely house where he had his own recording studio where he recorded Imagine, and that he had blossomed in this beautiful spot, then he may still be with us.... I still miss John and lament the music that he still had within him. He was a genius. RIP John.

    @MrGman2804@MrGman2804Ай бұрын
    • Tittenhurst is more than a mansion. 72 prime acres near Ascot including this lake/pond. It's about as grandiose as the area gets. But rock stars then really knew how to cash in on the grand estates formerly owned by royalty and literal land lords fallen on hard times. (see the castles owned by members of the Who, Led Zep, et al.) So he paid the 2024 of a little under $2 million for it. Considering all he got, it was a steal. Now, like everything else, the property is virtually untouchable and was bought in 1988 by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the then ruler of Abu Dhabi.

      @dahliafully@dahliafullyАй бұрын
    • @@dahliafully It is still there, and now owed by Sheik Zayed as you say. John paid £145,000 which depending on which machine you use is between £2.8m and £7m at todays prices. That is modest for what it is. I think a lot of that is because he was on 98% income tax, so even the rich had less money then. John sold it to Ringo in 1973, and Ringo sold to the Sheihk in 1988 for £5m at 1988 prices. The grounds are the most impressive thing. They are extensive and properly done in one of the most expensive parts of England. You can pull up outside the house, but you can't see much from the road, as there is a high wall. It must have been pretty cool coming from Liverpool to walk around those grounds owning it at the age of 30 making the video for 'Imagine'.

    • So you think Lennon was a hypocrite? Hey that's the very same reason Mark David Chapman murdered him! It seems obvious to me Lennon ditched the secluded millionaire's mansion to live in a relatively modest crowded apartment building in the middle of a peasant infested metropolis, where he rubbed elbows with the "peasants", walked in the park among them occasionally, signed autographs for them and was shot dead by one of them. Lennon would have been broke giving money away had it not been for Yoko (daughter of Tokyo bankers). He should have stayed on the estate. His message is still true even if he owned property. No one has yet figured out how to make communism manifest. His efforts to end the Vietnam war may have very really saved many lives. Another nut job broke into George Harrison's home and tried to stab him to death, succeeding in puncturing his lung. Maybe these type men need secluded expensive estates for their protection.
