  • It’s just absolutely mind boggling that men had the imagination ,vision, ingenuity,and skill to invent and bring to fruition these wonderful machines.

  • My father had a 1914 Harley, but he never did really tell me when he bought it or how long he kept it, but I think it was about 1915 and he probable had to sell it when he went into the Army for World War I. I am 79 years old and he was 45 years old when I was born. I love watching your videos, Thanks for the memories.

  • Picked up a bike from barry a couple months ago. Great guy, picked a couple parts for a 85 shovel police bike also. Only made about 250 shovels in 1985

  • Been to Wheels thru Time. Loved the walking tour. I have been riding bikes since 1957 and in 1975 bought at auction a Paterson PD bike. Twin Cylinder 45 CU IN bike. Tired old bike but fun. In 1980 bought a Softail and all new bikes since 11 all together. Now near 82 I gave up 2 wheels because of my safety and others. Miss riding terribly.

  • If you ever look on Google earth and see a perfectly round farm pond, that's the kind of track that the kids built for those. A funnel. They didn't slide them around corners like they do today. Maybe an old railroad turntable. Not everyone raced on a board-track.

  • Maybe I'm crazy but pedal start seems better than kick start. Pedal start you really spin the engìne -- almost like an electric starter!

    @browngreen933@browngreen93310 ай бұрын
    • Pedal start doesn’t work as well with larger displacement and higher compression. A compression release would allow you to get it spinning, but it would be hard to get enough momentum to keep it spinning once it has compression.

      @NBSV1@NBSV110 ай бұрын
    • Thanks for watching! It’s a great way to start the early bikes, but not without its shortcomings. Pedal start requires you to dismount the machine, set it up on the rear stand, climb back aboard, start, hope off, rock off the rear stand, get back on, then ride. It’s tedious to say the least. The kicker arm is also much more industrial than pedal crank assembly.
