I don't think they're "haters" in the sense that they want this channel to fail in any way. I think mostly those comments come from a channel going from being relatable, to not being relatable. Some viewers who stacked firewood like Mike used to, probably still do things the same way--they haven't made the "come up" that Mike has. It's like if you ran a lemonade stand, and loved it, and then you found someone's channel that also ran a lemonade stand. Then, over time, that lemonade stand channel turned into a chain of lemonade brick and mortar locations. You might not relate to it as much anymore, because that channel no longer resembles what made it relatable. That's just natural, and even peoples' desire to want things to return to what they found relatable is perfectly natural--it doesn't make them 'negative' to 'mourn' the loss of what used-to-be. Mike makes comments about things changing for better or worse, and even suggests that certain entities should stop doing what they're doing...because we might agree, it doesn't sound negative, but for someone on the other side of his arguments...well you get the picture. When I heard him say the comment was about Mike buying things, my immediate thought was 'yeah, I get that', but that's because I didn't assume the person hated Mike--he might, I really don't know--but I try to look at things from the point of view of a normal person...what would a normal person mean by saying that? There are times when Mike asks if his viewers like certain types of content, and I don't really like it when creators ask those types of questions--as tempting as it is to voice my opinion, I'd rather they just make what they want, and I'll decide if I want to watch it...very simple. Otherwise, it resembles a media operation--which technically it is, but I could tune in to broadcasters and cable if I wanted that, but I digress. All that to say, when Mike does certain types of videos that I don't really care for, I'm tempted sometimes to voice my dissatisfaction, but then I humble myself with the reality that his channel shouldn't be about what I want, because...well, he doesn't even know me, I don't buy his merch, I'm not subscribed, I don't hit the like button, and I don't even watch the ads--the man owes me absolutely nothing lol. Some people might do all of those things, or none of them, but still feel like there's enough 'give and take' for their opinion to matter, and hopefully influence the decisions Mike makes...agree or disagree, I wish them the best. For most of us, I can only assume that nothing in our lives hinges on what happens to a KZhead channel. Anyway, I'm rambling because I'm bored, sitting here waiting on a program to complete doing its thing...I need to touch grass I guess.

I cannot stand when I buy a new pair of shoes/boots and I hear strange squeaky noises. They go. No questions asked, they simply go bye bye. Well done. Now about the 1 or 3 negative comments about you buying something, let me share this. When I need gas for my vehicle, I don’t care about price. I simply stop somewhere and fill up. Why? Because I’m not wasting my energy on looking for the best price or buying at a specific location. I have better things to do with my time. Mike, Thought you might like to hear my experience with burning "wet" wood. I will try and make this short...We moved to the woods in Arkansas. We found a small cabin with just a few acres and we fell in love with it. It came with a beautiful wood stove and fireplace with stone from the property. When we closed on it , my first "jaw dropping" moment was when we got back to the property and I saw the huge firewood storage area was completely empty!!! I don't know why, but I thought it would stay. After moving in I starting looking for dead wood standing and newly fallen down trees. My property is mostly oak (white and red) and Pine all of the dead standing and newly fallen trees where pine. I cut/split all the pine it ranged from 24% moisture to about 14% with quite a bit of "punky" stuff. I cut 1 white oak down that had a bad lean toward the house and split it all up. I had all this wood cut and split by the end of Aug. but it was already starting to get cool at night and I had a plan....I ordered a bunch of fire starter from you and with the fire starter, and pine, I could get the "wet" oak going...Would have been a tough winter without your fire starter. Thanks for all you do!

Mike I have a grapple root rake for my bobcat T870. I tip the teeth just a couple inches into gravel and drive forward. Just incredible how it cleans bark etc. up in my wood yard. Highly recommend this one I use. It’s built very well. Company I found out is in Ohio. I plan on looking at other attachments they market. Mike I wanted to share with you what I did yesterday with it. I curled both grapples over to closed. I put grapple teeth down into soil the grapple arms now act as depth gauges will not let you gouge the ground moving forward. Back and forth over and over and I mixed a full bucket of ash up from boiler into the garden soil and horse manure. It basically did what a rototiller could do but half the time and leveled garden out. O!!!! I about forgot, and I didn’t have to step in horse manure and make my boots smell. I would have had a smelly problem not a squeaky boot problem. 😂 I enjoy your channel. Fellow laborer.

I just bought a scag patriot 61 mower. Had to retire my 1999 exmark Lazer z. Parts were becoming very hard to find. It was down for 4 weeks while I tried to find the right clutch. 4th time was a charm.
Love my Patriot! I’ve had mine for going on 8 years now. It’s been a great mower. Other than maintenance items it hasn’t needed a thing. 😊
For what it's worth, I understand what you're doing building your channel, building your business, your brand, etc. it all makes sense however, I believe there are some people who look at you as just a nice guy splitting firewood in his yard for some side money and doing some nice work for his community. These are the folks that think you are losing your way buying all the equipment. Yes, there are haters out there, but i think most just don't understand you're building a business. One piece of advice, don't ever say "I'll be honest with you", especially to a judge lol, b/c it implies sometimes you lie. Better to say "I'll be frank with you" or "I'll tell you flat out"...hope this helps. BTW I think your channel or product is very good. You've got talent for this kind of thing. Hope you and your wife enjoy your trip...safe travels.
IMHO, your channel has such great variety of not only content, but presentation, too. OWTM has been my #1 YT channel for the past three years when I was searching for ideas to keep grass growing in my shaded areas. Keep it up!

I was thinking about you mentioning that someone saying that they were tired of seeing you buying equipment. As i look back and viewing one of you older videoes, you have really grown your channel. I like that. I grew up on a dairy farm. We also grew tobacco and produce. I love equipment and tools that make thing easier and more productive. If you've got the money to spend and invest; then, more power to ya. I enjoy watching videoes like yours. You keep it interesting. If buying equipment helps you, I'm all for it. I was thinking of purchasing a Wood-Mizer sawmill and was looking at the LX150 that you had. I had been looking at the LT15 wide, but now I'm taking a look at the LX150. I'm plannig on doing a lot of timberframing for myself. I'm also looking for something to use as a small business/hobby for when I retire. These kind of videoes help me to make those decisions. I get more realistic views and info about equioment from people like you. Thanks for the videoes and keep on doing what you do.

Looking at that wood shed in the background another opportunity might be to cut those beautifully split and arranged pieces of wood into 2” lengths, glue them to backing board and sell it to architects for seriously stunning wall feature wall panels.
I have a particular disdain for jealous people. This came about quite a while ago a couple different times during conversations that led to making money when I nonchalantly ,and absolutely not bragging about, mentioned that I hit 40 K last year. The one guy responded. “You mean you make that much? “. And I said well Yeah that’s 6-7 days a week 10,11,12 hour days. Which I don’t think he heard a word cause all that was computing in his cranium was that I was making more than him. ( a relative by the way. lol)After those conversations, those people treated me differently. I thought it was just me. But after talking to a couple guys at work about it, they says oh no it’s not you. If you got a dime more than the next guy, they’ll be jealous. That was the end of my discussing wages with anybody. Keep doing what you’re doing Mike. Cause I am.
Long comment coming at ya. First, flying- last year, my daughter flew to Ireland. She left the bluegrass airport in Lexington Ky. Flew almost 900 miles in the wrong direction to Dallas Tx. When she arrived in Dallas, her flight was delayed for 14hrs, thats right 14hrs. My 15yr old daughter slept on a booth seat in the Dallas Fort Worth airport ( not cool ). So, for me, if i dont have to cross the big pond, im driving. Now for the channel, i love seeing the growth and the new equipment. I think its awesome to see a plan executed through hard work. Yall have a plan and are more than willing to put in the work to have it come together. Now for videos, one of my favorites is from one of yalls trips out west. I think the video was tirled “ no words needed “ or something like that. It was a great video. Another one of my favorites was “ i tried it their way” . We here in NH use hard wood for heat, pine for fire pits outside fires in common. No reason to waste good heating wood. Hope You Have a Better Day, Boscawen,NH

Mike, we use DRIED pine (4 yr old) to start our wood stove when we FIRST arrive at our cabin during the winter months in upstate NY. We continue to burn it for the first 30/60 minutes depending. It gives off an explosive amount of energy/Btu's in a very short period of time, though you just have to keep feeding it, as opposed to oak, etc.. Then we switch to hard wood. The cabin warms so much faster this way..
We like to drive as well...get down on the "surface streets" and see what we can find. And there's something really relaxing about having no where you have to be and no particular time to be there.
Standing oak, cut sawed then placed in my kilns 25 / 30 days dried down to 6 percent, pine either red or white frozen standing cut sawed 6 days down to 6 percent. Air dried pine from green to 15 percent 90 days, oak 1 inch thick air dried 1 year sometimes a bit longer down to 15 / 20 percent, depending on the equilibrium of the air moisture.
Your organization has improved 100%... good job yard looks great.....it's nice to be able to move around without stuff piled everywhere....great video Mike....

I had and exmark mower and it was fast and reliable. But it would frequently get stuck in the spring months. I broke down and got and AWD Kubota GR2120 with the diesel engine. Great mower.
Hi! Love your channel. A little trick for you with the hose clips when you removed the fuel filter on the mower. Grab a small socket and you can snap it on that clip and it will allow you to move it a lot easier than dealing with the bulky pliers.
Used pine for all our firewood, for 35 years as cost's nothing, just travelling to the forestry and cut and chop, this includes many different American originally, as our forestry service test every American tree stock from the 1900s ,to replace all of our native timbers, definitely not as go as our native species, but free, still takes 6 months to dry out, seasonal stored is still essential. I have changed to electric now as unable to work in anyway, we are fortunate to have 80 % renewable energy native wide, where I live we have 9 power stations all renewable energy, 😊😊love all your firewood operations Mike, ❤😊

I started watching your channel a few years ago when you featured that ex Mark lawnmower on your channel and I’ve been watching ever since I just retired from Toro and we manufacture a lot of Mark quest stuff. I was a supervisor there and I used to build the time cutter on my assembly line and we did build some quest stuff, I have a time cutter with a ride system that is unbelievably easy on your back anyways I just wanted to tell you that and I wish you well
I, like you don’t understand why anyone complains about what you by. I am going on 72 years old and just bought 20 acres to build my final home on. While I can’t afford or even need what you buy I do learn from what you do. I had someone clear my land, I have never run large equipment but learned what I needed to do to get it done. I will buy some type of log splitter for firewood but can’t justify what you have, mine will be for personal use only, not to sell wood like you do. But if we were to never improve I guess we would use wedges made from oak wood and a sledge hammer. I don’t want to go back to that. I do like and learn from your videos and also just enjoy watching what you do. You seem to think things out and use common sense in your decisions. I don’t want to pour concrete but I do learn from Tom about what I need to look for when getting someone to pour my concrete. You both have good content and keep me entertained. O.K. Here's my discovery. As a guy who can spill used motor oil everywhere. I know, I know....There's only a couple of us. Have you ever seen a vacuum bottle for changing oil in small engines? I got one at the local Advanced store and I love it. Pump the bottle a coupla times to make the vacuum. Put the hose down the dip stick and suck the oil out. Once it starts to suck air, I twist the hose around to make sure I've got it pretty clean. I always tilt the mower a little towards the dip stick. First two or three times I used it, I had to pull the drain plug....Didn't even get a drop out of the darned thing. I now spill one drop of oil when I pull the tube out...Sometimes. We are driving the Bad Lands/Yellowstone/Teton/Bryce Canyon/North Rim Grand Canyon/Moki Dugway and south to see our son in Austin Texas this September. You have a 4/5 hour head start on Hershey so we are taking three days to Wall, then hitting the Bad Lands on our way Cody for the night. Did 6,000 miles last may....Hoping for 6,500 to 7,000 this September. Hope the trip went well. Thanks for your time. Oh, BTW, looks like oak has roughly 2.5 times the BTU's of red pine.
X2 on the vacuum oil extractor. I even use it on my diesel pick-up. Soooo much easier to drain the last couple pints into a drain pan rather than the dealing with the entire volume at once. Especially now that I'm retired and flat-backing in the garage instead having a shop with a lift. The great shop and the people I worked with are about the only things I miss about my working days.
My wife and I went out west the last two years, it's just amazing out there. I loved the Badlands. We stayed in a little B&B right outside of the park called Circle View Ranch. It was pretty cool.
Growing up, we burned dry softwood in the shoulder heating season when we only needed a short fire once or twice a day. In the winter when we needed a fire full time and wanted to load the stove only twice a day, we burned oak or hard maple. Outdoors in black-fly season, we would build a smudge fire upwind and put some wet softwood, usually fresh-cut branches, on a dry-wood fire to generate some smoke to keep the bugs at bay.
I would never have a problem buying a used piece of equipment from you, Mike. My wife and I (61 & 63 respectively) went to New Zealand just after Christmas. Boston to Auckland, 26 hours. It was exhausting.

Pine and Spruce burn fast and hot. We usually take it down to 2" and use it with a few pages of newspaper to start the fire. The twisted newspaper heats the pipe, pine or spruce catches quick and gets the hardwood going on top, just ash left, it burns completely. It snaps and pops, shoots hot embers at you, terrible for fire pits!! When you get firewood around here, it's 60-70% hardwood and 30-40% softwood for $275 a cord. All hardwood would be around $400 a cord! We always bought a 4'x4'x8' stack of Cedar slab wood for kindling, much nicer wood! Spruce trees, if you have ever fought a forrest fire, are the worst!!!! They burn so fast it boils the sap and as much as a 6' top will "Blow up" shooting that piece in the air!! If the wind is right, it will fly over roads and start fires on the other side of the road. I still don't get why you guys love Poplar? Here it's a nuisance tree that we try to keep off our property! After 10-15 years, you never know when big branches or the whole tree will fall! Causes most of our power outages!
I forgot, 2 ways to split it..... cut your rounds and let them dry, or, split when it's below freezing. You can cut it wet in the winter, cut into rounds and split the same day. Bring it inside, stack close to wood stove 5' or so, and burn it by the end of the week! But, like I said, it's kindling and needs to be cut smaller than your usual size. Cedar kindling is much better, just harder to find. Birch is always mixed in with wood, it's a hardwood, but it burns dirty! It will creosote your chimney. Same as Poplar, burns dirty, takes forever to dry, heavy wood to lug, wet or dry! I'm on the East Coast too, Atlantic Canada, Northern New Brunswick on the great Miramichi River! Don't bother booking a trip for Atlantic Salmon, (what we were known worldwide for). Our Department of Fisheries let Bass baloon and took over the river! They eat EVERYTHING!!! The Salmon smolt don't stand a chance getting past the Bass to get back out into the ocean.

@tonygrimes13 I tried, but on my phone, it only shows one line at a time. I have bad PTSD and have trouble organizing my thoughts sometimes, then I just end up rambling about something unrelated. I am 52 and medically retired from being a Federal Correctional Officer in a Federal Maximum Security Prison for over 25yrs and an EMT for 4 years before that. I was on the prisons Emergency Response Team, and I did all the jobs nobody else wanted to do.... I never had trouble with lots of blood or bodies until later in life. From my city, there is not one road that I didn't pick up at least 1 body from. I had no intention of being retired at 52 and single since 2018, with 4 kids that are grown now, 19-24. But, here we are.....

Welcome Home! Had to laugh you both were talking about being stiff from riding and Melissa proceeds to fold up both of her legs into a tight Indian style position .... Heck I have trouble tying my shoes LOL Can't wait to see trip videos! Bad lands, Custer park, wall drug donuts and coffee, etc. We did all of the above and more driving a 1983 restored Grand Wagoneer from Montana in a record heat of 110F. Every time we stopped at a light or in traffic it would vapor lock.. We finally got the cold water, gas in carb routine down to a science... or a Chinese fire drill process.
Mike ,I consider you and your family great neighbors and enjoy “hanging out” and find myself wanting to help with whatever you’re doing. Your videos motivate me to get outside and get something done. The extra little side trips are a bonus, sometimes educational ,and an excuse for me to sit down and take a break.

Amen I agree with you totally. He says no man knows the day nor the hour that the son of man is coming again not even the angles in heaven. Do everybody can make their predictions to what is going to happen and so forth. But, there are so many things we still have to go through before b the end will happen. All this channels talking doom and gloom all the time is exactly why I stopped watching allot of them. I stopped watching this channel for a long time but I just started watching them again a c few months back.

Mike, we took 2 weeks off in 2014 and went out west. Traveled during the day and stayed overnight in good motels ended up at Springfield MO. went to Laura Ingles Wilder Homes and properties as we worked our way back, My most favorite visit was The Jack Daniels Distillery in Tenn. I could have lived in the cave where the water is sourced from. It was a great week and I was totally away from the Police Department Stress. We love your show, you buy what ever you want and don't worry about the haters, they can pound sand as far ad I'm concerned. Pine builds up creosote in chimneys when used as the primary firewood. It's best as kindling in winter at best, or as an outdoor wood in spring....
FIDO !!! I learned this a long time ago from a highly-decorated marine who got all shot up during the Vietnam war. He lost an arm and a leg, plus part of his face was blown off. His name is Glebe McCleary. He told the story about some woman who had come up to him after a presentation and asked "Did it hurt?" Duh! Well, rather than dwell on stuff or people like that, he adopted the philosophy of FIDO. Forget It and Drive On!!! He even had a license plate made up with that acronym and placed it on the front of his RV. What a great message that is. I've used that mindset many times when, as I've traveled the world speaking and teaching through workshops, etc., I've encountered people who were bitter about one thing or another. Rather than dwelling on their bitter words or actions, I just FIDO. Then, I can move forward with a smile on my face and a lilt in my step. So, FIDO!!

Mike, Melissa, look at routing thru Columbus, Indy and back up 74 to Davenport.... Eye 80 then on west up 29 to 90 across or wherever you're headed.... misses Chicago traffic and Tolls... only bout 55 miles farther i believe but saves time and traffic nightmares...
My sentiments exactly. Time of day and the day of the week makes all the difference when going thru Chicago. Lake Michigan has a big impact on road traffic! Lol

Living in NC we have a lot of pine. We got the name of the tar hill state because of it. Don't burn it in a wood stove because it has a lot of tar even when dry. My dad had a bad chimney fire.

Mike love how your Channel has grown and how it has changed. I loved your earlier stuff. But I live watching things grow into something great. Keep doing what your doing. I am a young father of two and watching your channel has been kinda a stress reliever for me. Since watching your channel I have found some peace in starting now to me hobbies such as splitting firewood. I was a ford master mechanic for years before going into the construction trade and doing concrete for a living for about 8 years to last year changing to working for a trees service. I also get board doing the same thing over and over. Anyways love your channel keep doing it.

I grew up on a farm about 90 miles north of LaCrosse, WI. In 2017 my wife and i made the trip that you talked about. Badlands, Devil's Tower, Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore etc. Great trip! Looking forward to seeing your video on it.

Just a thought...It might be an interesting experiment to throw some of the split red pine in your buddy's kiln. The kiln dried moisture content might produce better start, overall burn and (a lessening of) smoke rates. If this experiment produces positive results, you could lumber cut PA & WV red pine, use the cut offs for split wood and then dedicate a load of split and lumber material into your new kiln....This method would allow for faster kiln drying (with the lack of mixed species) and allow you to build an inventory stockpile of ready to go/sell split red pine...Once completed, you can return your sole focus to hardwood splitting. Took our 2022 F350 CCLB out West last summer. 2 weeks. Big tour. It was phenomenal. Truck did amazingly well. I track miles driven per tank at fill up and gallons to chart MPG. Getting 1000 miles on a tank will depend on speed and next fuel location. I ran to 856 miles and 42.48 gallons. Wanted to push further but was concerned about next fuel stop. Setting cruise at 88 in SD isn't easy on the mileage. LOL! I hope you have an excellent time. We're heading to Banff and Vancouver and Glacier this summer. Enjoy! Relax!

Squeaking boot. Try removing the insoles and sprinkle talc inside then refit the insole. The squeak can be caused by the foam insole moving against the footbed.

Pine is great for a campfire Burns HOT and fast and is easy to light especially if you can find pitch
I think Mike made the mistake we all have made burning wet wood... too many splits on the initial start... rather then building up the fire slowly with smaller kindling...
We live Here in wv and we heat with one of the outside boilers and we burn alot of pine in it and it does really well and gives off good heat...I don't think I'd burn it in a house stove bc of the sap
Wv here too and I have one of those wood burning add on furnaces in my shop. It's one of those newer epa controlled piece of junk but it Burns, pine really well. Now it doesn't last as long as cherry, but it still Burns. The pine quite efficiently, not a lot of smoke or a lot of sap, build up. Not sure if that's because being an EPA. Stove, it Burns hotter. With the reburn tubes and the ceiling of the stove, but I don't have a problem with burning pine. And the great thing is you can get it for free because nobody wants it

Great channel. We heat our house with a combination of fir, Madrone, maple and oak. AS far as dump truck I was looking in our regional AG paper and there were a number of nice dump trucks both two and three axil dump trucks in the $20K to $35K range with generally lower milage.

Time your Trip so you’re passing through Shittyago illinois after 8pm at night to avoid the traffic there. I drove a tractor trailer for years and I haven’t lost a Dang Thing in Shittyago! The birds fly upside down over that place because there’s nothing worth crapping 💩on there. 😂🤣

Where I grew up in NE Oregon, we burned mostly Black Pine (lodgepole) and some Western Larch (tamarack). The lodgepole is very abundant and burns hot due to high pitch content. Great for kindling and getting other wood going. Tamarack is less abundant but makes great heat and is great for keeping a fire overnight. I now live on the Oregon coast, here we prefer Madrone (Arbutus), it's a hardwood that makes tremendous heat per volume of wood. Hope your trip is full of wonderful memories.

I betcha dollars to donuts that Mr. "I don't like when you buy new equipment" made or makes money and buys stuff for himself. Since you use all those machines in the vids, I wonder if he watches those vids. No equipment? No videos.....or fewer at the least. I don't get that mentality either. Don't like those videos? Don't watch 'em. Pretty simple, actually. I don't like most TV shows, so guess what........I don't watch. I don't like Target, so I don't shop there........see where this is going? I applaud you for reinvesting for yourself and family. Keep it up and most of us will still be here. I use various softwoods and Poplar for "shoulder seasons". Everything dries at different rates, and Oak is a bugger unless you live in a kiln. A LOT of folks around here have problems with firewood because they won't get it until a month or two before burning. Mostly hardwoods, and of that, it's mostly OAK. Doesn't work well. Have a day!

BOTTOM LINE..... I really enjoy seeing someone take what they have, create a vision from that and then moving forward towards achieving that goal. Once that goal has been realized, they continue to create new visions and act upon those accordingly. Great job Mike! Someday, when you get the vision of visiting the Oregon coast for some of the world famous "Mo's Clam Chowder", I hope you'll let me know so I can show you around Oregon. As for the "haters" out there, I'm gonna guess that most if not all of them are that way, because they don't have the means to be able to go out and buy all the things they want.... Correct statement? Maybe not, but even so they want to make you wrong, they (the negative commenters), never offer as to why they feel the way they do, they just thrive on the recognition they get, by being negative.... I think it's a feel good for them, when they make an attempt to make others wrong for what they're doing.
I'm 65 now. Having cut and split fire wood most all my life, by hand . I love it when you buy a new toy ! I live vicariously thru you ! Save your health and your back while you can. We burn a lot of oak in our fire places. We try to stay away from pine. It leaves a lot of sooth in the chimney and that can cause a fire. Outside pits and other things it works great. Love your videos and keep up the good work. God bless
I have some red pine I cut in December, split small in January and it is dry enough to run pretty good in a campfire now (end of April). I did try it in February for my maple syrup and it wasn't close, so really only 2 months of spring drying weather and small splits can do it.

Since this was a week ago if you were driving you may have run into some of the wonderful spring weather we have had in the form of snow. You may have gotten home just in time for the storms to hit PA. We had a storm yesterday which was a hit and run but slow run. Saturday was wet and snowy off and on. One of our road was closed due to the snow sticking to the pavement. Although this sound like a problem is is a small problem as opposed to getting enough water for the year. We received 13% of our annual water in yesterdays snow storm.. Hope you had a great time coming out this way!!
Mike, I think that what you buy is your own business. I do appreciate the up front about the stuff owned and stuff loaned. I watch because even though, i don't do necessarily the same things you do. I believe we are like minded in our endeavors.
I think you guy’s have done a great job building your channel! You and The Tom’s are my go to channel’s in the morning before I head to work! I bought a LX 3310 in 2020 and one of the attachments that I tried to get my dealer to order for mew was a front loader auger! I don’t think they ever tried to get me one so I just gave up on the idea! I have watched Neil’s video that he did a few years ago on the auger so it will be fun to watch you do one as well! But I know that the one that you have is a totally different beast all together! I have mentioned before that my wife is from Pittsburgh so it is fun to let her know how the weather is back there lol! I hope you guys had a Blessed trip and looking forward to seeing your video!
If you went to Interior when in the Badlands you were about 75 miles from us. If you went to Mt. Rushmore you were about 25 miles from where I used to live. We burned a lot of pine when in the Black Hills. It does burn quicker than hard woods for sure.
Mike, about the pine, my father in law and I wouldn't go out looking for it but if one fell, we'd cut and use it. It would tar up the stove pipe/ chimney so we would use it on weekends and evenings but not nights when you would slow the fire down for overnight. After using pine we would burn our stoves hot with hardwood For a short time to help clean the sap out. You are doing it right saw the pine for lumber, burn the hardwood for heat. As for the haters and you buying things, I wish I was in the position to do that but I'm thrilled for you, I'm sure you made different and likely better choices in life and nothing was given to you. Haven’t watched any of your videos for a while. They are still informative and entertaining. We traveled from the west to go to Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone several years ago, great vacation. The Yellowstone caldera has not blown up yet!
