Are you interested in welding, turning, milling and plasma cutting? This video about making a grinder with your own hands from designing to testing the finished machine contains all of it! I made the grinder for the first time, and it was a very interesting experience. See how it was ;)

  • Hey Lucia, As a 58 year old engineer I absolutely love what you are doing here. Cool designs, quality engineering and up-cycling where possible. What a range of skills you have mastered coupled with superb videos. Most of all you are demonstrating that the joy and satisfaction that comes from engineering is not just "men only" it is for everyone. Excellent work.

    • Same here. Impressive work, and great videos made. Sad to see in the comment sections that there are quite a few men around that are having quite big problems with seeing a lady outdoing them in 'their' trade. The world moves forward, but quite slow within some fields. Yes to more women in the field of metal working.

I just came across your channel by accident, a very good accident indeed, because there was metal involved, only watched a few minutes before I subscribed, now I'm hooked! Amazing attention to detail as well! Top-notch videography too! Your belt grinder build is flawless! Watching here in Missouri, the heartland in the USA. Your machine & tool arsenal is...well, what all of us metal fabricators drool over, you have every machine one could hope to ever own (at a home-small business) shop. Thank you for sharing your skills and craft with all of us out here, I can't wait to see more! I'll probably click on your videos and binge all night with a good cabernet. The actual quality of the video (editing, music, etc) was very good too - I'm subbed to see what else is in the workshop :) The only additions I'd like to see to the grinder is a means of dust extraction (invaluable in my experience), and if I'm being really picky a small LED light to clearly see what you're working on

  • I’m impressed as hell that you smelted and turned your own aluminum rollers.

  • Outstanding work. Thank you for using a vacuum to clean away your chips. I have commented several times on other machinists using compressed air to do the job.

  • I just started following you and I’m amazed at what you do. I weld and build all the time but I’ve never learned how to melt and cast.

  • Lucia i am a machinist fabricator, electrical engineer, cad designer and inventor. I am so impressed with what you do. I have been doing it for years and i have never come across someone so well rounded as what i see you do. I am always learning and i have learned better ways to do things from you as well! I love to watch your videos. Very few people have the ingenuity skill and mechanical mind that you have. I have been inspired by your videos, and i love that you show the real process especially when parts dont always work right the first time. Its so gratifying to see the process of creating something from nothing that you just dreamed up and seeing the satisfaction on your face when you turn it on and it’s working. You are amazingly talented. If you ever need help or advice programming electronics to control your machines or engineering hydraulics and you get stuck please shoot me a comment i would love to help. thank you for making these videos!! -Isaac

  • Hello Licia, nice to see you again. And thus to experience a small participation from afar. I'm happy every time. It's always very nice to see how you develop from a small stage, elegantly and very well planned, more and more completely. And it is always a pleasure to see how your workshop has received a new basic product. I think it's great that your work also encourages other women to tackle their own things as craftsmen. I can't resist a hint. And the following. To make the belt grinder a little more universal. And how? With a longer spring-loaded instep arm and much wider at all deflections. So you have included the applications of all commercially available widths of sanding belts and their currently available lengths. At first glance, that sounds a bit exaggerated and a bit too complex. However, in many moments it is the absolute pinnacle of universal basic resource use. Greetings, and many more meaningful and well thought-out projects with you there.
