    • Pffffffft. Ellen would faint. I am learning French and just learning the name of those accents makes me nervous. Latin based languages kills the heck out of you. Those who speak Spanish and French have my respect. And they are way more interesting then the boring bland English

    • @@mera4309 I think that both languages are complex (English and Spanish). I am from El Salvador in Latin America and I learn new words in Spanish all the time. And when I was studying English it was very complicated to remember the words to use in a sentence. (I think I'm good at languages)

  • Sofia can speak English without an accent. She's studied in English, lived in America, and dated Americans. But that's her shtick. She wants to use her accent to her advantage and she wants to make fun of Americans that simultaneously think people with an accent are less smart while they themselves can't speak any other language but English. 🤣 Sofia you're a genius!

    • Totally agree! The way she said the first word without an accent showed that she knows the correct pronounciation and is able to imitate sounds. She just speaks the latin way on purpose, being a latina I know I could do it effortlesly; but would be discriminated and made fun of. Even when I have a perfect pronounciation, I physically look latina and it causes prejudice sometimes.

    • I don’t think so. Just because you studied in English and lived there for several years doesn’t mean that you adapt accent. My Asian mom married a Dutch man, lived in Holland for ~30 years and still has a heavy accent and can’t pronounce all words. I think it heavily depends on your mother tongue. I can try to pronounce ‘ž’ all I want but I still sound funny apparently. I can’t pronounce ‘khrab’ in Thai either, despite being brought up with Thai and living in Thailand for several years. Dutch is my mother tongue. Shit’s a lot more complicated than “oh you’ve lived here and studied in English”.

    • Simon Ben Natan Okay you’re reaching. You can tell when someone is kind of faking an accent. Hers is 100% real it’s just that if she tries really hard to take the accent out she can do it. I know people who’ve been in the U.S for a long time went to school out here and everything and still have that thick accent but if they try really hard they can take the accent out in some words and sound more “American”

  • As a trilingual person I can tell you that my personalities change when I speak another language. Also it’s really hard to speak another language when I know the word in 3 languages, I mix them up. Also I have to translate everything you say to my first language then find the answer in that language and then answer you in English. So to mock a person just because they don’t speak their second language perfect is so rude. I think Sofia is really intelligent woman. And it’s sad that Ellen repeatedly mock her accent.

    • Most medical terms are Greek, less are French and even less English. Every fear for example that ends with the word "phobia" it's Greek. Also, it's quite common for many doctors to give Greek names even for the new medical terms. Obviously the root of the word it's Greek not the word itself.
