  • Most days with enough sleep my motor function with my left hand is good. My left side is significantly weak still. Spasticity is a pain but I restarted my catering business and have now branched into cakes. I'm giving it my everything and then some but nothing is gonna keep me down anymore. Everything happens for a reason right? I believe this happened in my life to give me focus and a purpose. I've finally made my peace with my situation. This chapter of my life is truly amazing I wasn't as focused before would always get distracted but now I see it. I do it and nothing is stopping me. I went out a few nights ago with some friends everything was great until it was time to leave and some men started making fun of the way I walk with the assistance of a friend that night and my cane. My friends stood up for me but due to the stupidity of those men the evening could've gone tremendously wrong. Thank God nobody was hurt not even my feelings. I'm stronger now. The world is filled with stupid ppl and fools. I'll keep pushing on especially with u by my side Elyse ❤❤❤❤. Thank u for being there

    • Thank you for sharing your story. I’m so inspired that you have restarted your catering business. Hate to hear that people can be so cruel, but incredibly impressed that you aren’t going to let them impact the way you feel about your remarkable recovery.

  • Great to see you again. Touch typing is good being able to use both hands without looking. Its been one year since my event. I walk every day, and i need to rest shortly after woods. With your excellent and practical exercises I plan to safely in crease my range with my walking about. I am going on a night river cruse in about 4 weeks, I am told its one step on and off the boat but toilets are 12 maybe 14 steps down. I have an aerobic step. Its a bit hot and humid at the moment else I would be doing more measured exercise. Stay positive it really helps improvement. I would love to be in a colder country maybe others would like to be in a hot humid place like this. To be honest its not too bad at all.

  • Another great video Elyse! I have one suggestion for something that I use at home that was recommended by my outpatient OT. I had someone take a rolled up, hand, towel and tape it up to my wall. I use it to push forward to build up strength. I also put it on the outside of my bathroom door so I can strengthen my arm by pushing out and also pulling in while standing in the bathroom. You can also use it to push your elbow back and gain strength that way. Hope they can help someone.
