Highland cattle are cute in general. To see a newborn being cleaned and stimulated by mama is just awesome. The juvenile carefully coming over to explore the newcomer in curiosity was adorable.

I disagree. Mom calls to her calf so calf will know her voice. Notice how others cows are silent. And notice how other cows stay away except the younger one whom mom pushed back. Mom is protective. Nothing to do with happiness of others seeing her baby.

This is so adorable. I love when the calf finally stands up and is just still. It’s like he’s thinking “OK I stood up. Now what do I do? Ah ok, omg which leg do I move 1st?”
But I don’t find adorable is that the person videotaping it allows eight minutes to go by without walking over to help the baby stand up. If I were there I would go over immediately to help the baby stand up. Not just friggin videotape it and upload on KZhead.
@@gmar7836 Although you may want to help, unless it was in danger, it's the worst thing you could do. Highland calves have been born and learned to stand in this way since they were first documented in the 6th century. This is how nature created it and we should not interfere. The BEST thing to do was videotaping it and uploading on KZhead for everyone to see the wonders of nature.

Thank you for your understanding of the situation. Sometimes humans tend to want to respond to animals in a human way, but actually it’s better to allow animals to act naturally.. and only intervene IF totally needed. Our approach is to let the animals be as natural as we can

Mama moo is talking to her baby as if to encourage it. The baby is instinctively knew to stand up, and kept trying until it succeeded. A big lesson here for us, try, try and try again until you make it, never give up!
Amazing how the instincts are built in to tell it what to do - I love all the others standing around ready to 'help' - they are such beautiful creatures ! Thank you for this wonderful little view of cattle family life !

@@deannarichardson752 its probably also a defensive mechanism when new born are born we gather so the wolfs wont prey on the new one also i would imagine (more eyes more defense) + as you say curiosity like welcoming a new member to the heard. but ye im just talking out my ass and guessing but most social animals depend on each others numbers for safety especially new borns 🤣🤣🤣

There is a lesson here for all of us. Namely, the patience and gentle encouragement of the mother and the determination of the young calf. We've thrown away nature's guide book, beautiful videos like this can help us find it again. Thanks for sharing it with us.

It is instinct and survival. There is no book?, lovely as it is to see.
If you go solely by Darwinian concepts you might have a point. However, I still believe that nature has a little bit more to offer than mere instinct and survival etc. Animals are capable of acts of altruism as has been shown in many examples.

It is important to understand that these gentle animals were forcibly impregnated. The babies are constantly brought into existence to replace their mothers that will soon be sent to a horrific slaughterhouse. Farms such as Dale farm destroys nature from ever existing by threatening all life. Try to follow ones heart by keeping their exploited dead bodies out of our bodies.

I love seeing this shaggy little new moo❣️ Those first steps are always tough, for every hooved beastie. It's amazing how quickly they go from barely standing, to walking, to running, and its always a thrill to watch a calf's, or foal's, or kid's first steps!
Yes, they learn so fast. She was so quick and well established by the following day! Standing under her mummy!
I’ve seen it so many times, but it’s always fascinating to watch them stand for first time. I liked way the other younger ones gathered around
They were very interested it was amusing to see! Especially the big sister calf (November is her name!)

All of those trembles are amazing education of the interactions of the muscular and nervous systems. How marvelously the systems interact with one another until standing, then walking, then running and hopping are all done subconsciously with little effort.

What a great Mom. The new little one is adorable. I found myself saying come on baby you can do it even knowing that the calf would get up. It was interesting that the other Highlands were so close to the baby and one Highland was sniffing and almost touching the calf. The Mom didn't bat an eye. Thank you for sharing it was wonderful. Yes me too! I was like come on! Yes!!! Love that it kept trying! And so brand new! Soon it was drinking but we gave them some space xx

The mum cleaning the baby and promoting her wee one's circulation is always thrilling to watch. The cute little one is so determined and mum lets him know she is right there. Now he is up so the next step is to find the dairy.

It might be a surprise but not every living being is male. It is a female calf.

I love the Highlands. Being from the States, we don't see too many over here. I find it so loving that the rest of the herd were standing around watching as Mom was cleaning the wee one up. From what I was told, the Highlands are quite protective of their young, so I was surprised that Mom let the others so close. This was so charming. Thank you for uploading this vid.
They are super protective and great mothers! They know that we care for them so we are familiar to them , but I wouldn’t push my luck as they could still be dangerous

@@DaleFarm Yeah they're super protective. Thats why they bellow non-stop with grief and chase after the vehicle taking away their baby. They're super protective but are helpless when monsters like you come to take whats "yours." You sicken me.
I rarely saw them in other parts of the country, but here in the northwest they are much more common- at least 3 herds within 5 miles of my house. They are my favorite

They all stood around quietly watching, I felt like I was watching a Disney movie. The scenery is breathtaking and the cows are adorable, they look like shaggy dogs. The little baby was the sweetest. Thank you for sharing your amazing video of newest family addition ❤ 🐄
It is impressive to see how the mother is checking and cleaning the grass of traces of the birth. I am also amazed that she does not seem to mind having humans so close.

The beginning of life out of the womb, the little guy is just trying to get all systems downloaded , looking for all systems to go. It really is amazing of what has to occur, in order for that calf to get on its feet, and looking for nourishment from mom. Another great moment to observe the fight for life. Congratulations, to you, Nick, and your dad you all should be very proud. 😁
Yes the first moments are incredible- I love watching that! And then all of a sudden, on their feet and drinking Far better equipped than us humans!
The looks on the faces of the other cattle is interesting. They are witness/protectors to cow and calf, it seems. As vocal as that cow is, calf will always know mom's voice. Congratulations Dale Farm, the herd increases.

And finally- got milk? That was joyous I know for them but me too! I relived my own deliveries. Only God. Thank you. I feel so human, so connected.
What a trooper! No fussing, no tantrum, just pure will to get this done. Patient mother isn't judging or scolding. And how civil the bystanders are ... Observant, but no interference, no snickering, no commenting on how they would have done it better. And no one's on their phone! What a bunch of pleasant ... non-people.

Yes! I just HATE it & get very angry when I see ppl "breaking" horses, for 1 thing, by being cruel. That breaks their spirit while patient kindness teaches them to TRUST you & build a good relationship with you while getting better results at TRAINING them! (I ALWAYS report ppl who are abusive to animals. I think YOU should, also!)

Малыш родился и не дышит. Мама его стимулирует, но волнуется, поэтому мычит. Потом он раздышался. Вокруг все переживают, но стараются не мешать. Как при родах у людей. Рождается ребёнок.. все в родовой замирают, пока ребенок не сделает первый крик. Иногда приходится его также стимулировать, растирая пеленкой.Стресс ужасный.

It's just so endearing how they waited for permission ... cautiously approached ... were all so focused and interested in the calve ... and helped, emulating what the mom was doiing. Just beautiful.

Hey Kim we were lucky to be there so quickly , and so thankful that everything was okay. The first moments are amazing aren’t they! And the cow was not too defensive with us around. Some of the others would have been more aggressive but this one is very quiet x
