it's so wild to me. my parents never legally divorced (they're still legally married) but they separated due to a lot of conflict. and they get along better as friends than in a romantic relationship. but my dad at least made attempts to be in our lives. and he's still part of my life now. i would honestly be so flabbergasted if my dad had left my family to breakdance. but i do know that separated parents do talk shit about their ex-partners a lot and it does help the child form a biased opinion about the lesser seen parent. i know my siblings and i were taught to dislike my dad and blame the entire marriage collapse on him. but as an adult i've come to realize that my parents were just too incompatible and their relationship was never going to work because they both have different goals in life. and their separation was for the better. though the way they handled it wasn't very civil and wasn't great to do in front of a bunch of children.. but also they were in their late-20s and had three kids.. so i can see why they didn't handle it that well

With him proving a lot of things she said about him fake or just twisted to make him look like the bad guy. So it became what she says vs what he says. And while he is allowed to publicly defend himself, he should also be speaking to his daughter privately. The fact that he is talking directly to her IN his public defense of his character is just inappropriate and emotionally daft.
