Dan in the kitchen: “you know if i had a mini digger, this béchamel would...”
I think a mini digger will solve sooo many problems!!
🤣🤣🤣
How else are you going to dig up the potatoes?
@@elewysoffinchingefeld3066 Ba haha ha! 🤣
Ahahaha!
Just love the praise of fixing the back door, it’s those little things that can make a major impact!
Stefanie is in her element, checking on things, asking questions, making suggestions. A leader knows how to encourage her staff & friends to give their all. Will keep watching your progress.
What I hear is Stephanie listening to everyone but firmly making her own mind up and decisions.
Philip what a kind person you are. A housewarming gift.
The Chinese are said to believe that a garden is not finished until there is a structure to watch the rain from..
That is a beautiful saying.
I soooo believe that! I love sitting and listening to the rain.
I love that Charles
Love that !!
wow
👏 for Klaus! Sees a problem and just fixes it with no fanfare! We all need a Klaus in our lives! We will miss Marie! Congratulations to Steve and Sarah! And of course, the cherry on top was the wonderful Tango!
LaLande's accidental collection has taught me a Resume or CV isnt worth the paper its written on. Selmar applies as a volunteer craftsman but he excels at so much more. Dan emails for a gardener's job yet also is a proper trained French chef. It goes on & on. Stephanie has a good eye for employees.
i'm more impressed that Dan was a cook for royal navy.
Or Natalie--she does the interviews, it was said.
I so agree with Run RunRun. In the US, I think we too often identify ourselves and our fellows with our employment/profession, while in truth, we are all multifaceted, multidimensional beings. How much we miss in not discovering the other parts of ourselves and our neighbors, even those around the world.
Stephanie simply has a gift of creating an environment that brings out the best in people and gives them the space to be themselves! It's a recipe for success xxx
All you need is love, as the song goes.
Klaus is the type of quiet man who notices and fixes things. I am hopeful to find such a person to come here for a visit and do handyman jobs.
Sultry Tango! Selmar and Steph move so well together with grace and style.
When Kirsty mentioned cooking apples and Stephanie Selmars apple pie, i have talked about this before, i wish that all the ones that have cooked over time like Marie, Selmar and others including Dan , each of them could put forth their favorite recipe, so my wish is for a La Lande cook book to come to fruition it would be a great revenue builder as well.
@Stella Marie Poetry and Green Arts it would be such a great book to add to my collection, no harm in dreaming
We need a volunteer to help do this! Even if its just an ebook!
Wonderful idea a cookbook!
Great idea and I could design the cook book for you
We are saddened to see Marie leave for her new adventures, but we wish her many joyous blessings! It’s amazing at her transformation since coming to LaLande. She has grown into a vibrant confident woman. She is so very talented, & the World awaits. We love & adore you Marie! 😍

Steve and Sarah, the post card is difficult to read but here is what I can read: "Nous voici de retour après quelques jours passés dans le joli château de mon amie et nous vous attendons avec le Docteur. Il fait tout à fait bon, la chaleur n'a pas encore été fatigante, donc pas d'excuses empêchant le voyage en Lot-et-Garonne. Nous attendons un mot annonçant votre arrivée et nous envoyons.....(???) Mes filles se joignent à nous pour (?) à votre venue, et elles adressent un bon souvenir à Jacques, demandant s'il fait collection de cartes postales." So in English something like: "We are back after a few days in my friend's pretty chateau and we wait for you with the Doctor. The weather is nice, the heat has not been tiring yet, so no excuse for not coming to Lot-et-Garonne. We wait for a note announcing your arrival and we send... (??? I can't read the bottom of the card) My daughters are joining us for (?) your coming, et they send a good memory to Jacques and ask if he collecs post cards" The card was posted in Agen (in Lot-et-Garonne) on June 8 1907, and arrived in Gien (in Loiret) on June 9. Congratulations for your new chateau, I can't wait to virtually visit it!
Could you please spell the name of the chateau so I can look it up. Thanks

I didn't catch where he got the postcards but what a treasure for Sarah and Steve.
And that tango was a piece or art... Wonderful...
Selmar and Steph dancing is always a romantic and beautiful sight! Congrats to Steve and Sarah! Dan is hilarious about that digger lol!! The garden is looking lovely!

How nice it is to see everything come together! Bye Marie! Best of luck to you on your next adventure.
Davy has has done a magnificent job in the garden design, truly grand and befitting Lalande!!
I thought Dan was very quiet during their meeting, I thought the garden was his domain
@@nannieg7622 True, it is his domain, but not his ultimate design. Dan does a marvelous job maintaining the garden and bringing it back to life. Together with the enormous drive of Isabelle when she's around. The grand design however is Davy's.
I think he’s a bit more reserved in this clip however we know he’s got his ‘talents’ showing while filming his own blogs. I just adore him and he is a great asset for LaLande.
Davy is a gem!

The pergola would be great matt black, it would let the greenery stand out and shine. Being black it wouldn’t stand out as much overtaking your beautiful plants. 😊💜
I know Sarah and Steve's chateau...I live 5 minutes away! I hope it all goes well and maybe we can meet!
Best show ever. Yes, in America, we drink coffee after dinner. Loved the tango! So sexy! Bravo!
Yes, formal American dinner place setting includes the cup and saucer and a few other pieces, a little different than European or UK place settings! I remember Home Economics class my teacher Mrs. Robinson had us practice all the different formal place settings. Those were the days!
Is the reason for this not that it is a hangover from the days of prohibition when wine would not have been served at dinner? And I think there are still more people who are teetotal in the USA than in UK or Europe.
My goodness Stephanie, even the simplest repair job makes you so happy and excited. You made me smile because you were like a child with a surprise.💖 You can 'tick the box' that little project is done.🤗🤗🤗🌷🌷🌷Thor looked so funny and none of the peahens even gave him a glance!😂😂👀

Much cheaper to hire or rent a digger, or find a secondhand one, 😂🤣😂
We bought a 2nd hand 4T digger last year as we moved to a 10acre overgrown property here in NZ. Next to the ride on mower, it has been THE most useful item…of course it took some getting used to for this 61 year old female novice, I accidentally took out the shed guttering, and a new, tricky to fit semi circular fence board to name just a couple of mishaps, but otherwise, it’s brilliant, we use it for all sorts, lifting, digging, bashing, scraping, demo, pushing the edges of the bonfire to a more compact state, it’s uses are endless. I am learning to be gentle with it. Dan is correct, diggers hold their prices well, though I seriously believe, once you have one, you won’t think of getting rid, only upgrading. The only issue I have with hiring are the sometimes large delivery and collection fees, obviously location dependent.
Congratulations Steven and Sarah🤠. Marie you will be missed!
I look forward to seeing Dan cook for Lalande. Congratulations Sara and Steve. 🎉 I hope we’ll get a tour once you’ve settled in.
You and Selma tangoing…so gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!! ❤️
The cup and saucer is very American. There are some who drink coffee with their meal.
I’ve said this before, but Steve’s doppelgänger lives in LA - my dear friend, Jim. “They” say we all have one somewhere in the world. And Davy, the architect and the vision but doesn’t seem to go beyond that. He’s a lovely guy, and his input is amazing. But Dan is the muscle and the man who will get it done. Get him the digger and whatever else he needs. ❤️
Congratulations Sara and Steve

Stephanie’s tango is amazing!!! Oops, almost forgot, Selmar you always look great!
I am sorry but I was already falling for that soft spoken sweet heart selmar with all his fine work and great laugh, but who knew he could DANCE!!!!! lol AWESOME..
Whilst watching, probably because you requested Kiwi, I thought I MUST suggest Passiflora! If not for the Pergola than anywhere else. Having spent much time in Capri where many of the fine gardens were once planned and by a legendary pair of italian gardener brothers, one of my favorite take away elements is the espaliers of passiflora (passionfruit) that eventually grow thick woody stems like Wisteria, and have the most decorative flower faces that are a veritable magnet for all sorts of butterflies, honey and bumble bees. They emit a soft ”humm” and flutter all through the flowering period! I’m not sure how hardy they are at Lalande’s zone, and I doubt they’d produce lots of edible passionfruit, but they are magical, both the growth rate of the vines every season, the soft curves of the vines, and the flowering circular stars all over in bright white and purple that just light up like litte faces against the green canopy. I’ve even grown them in my most south facing kitchen window up here in Scandinavia and they climbed 3,5 meters to the ceiling in one season! But they don’t fare as well here in winter as I live in town and no longer have my cousins former winter garden to let my meditteranean plants spend the winter in, with temperatures not too cold and not too hot. So my big beloved lemon tree and and passiflora no longer live with me, and I miss them dearly. Passiflora are stunning grown on high obelisques too and if you need to keep them in the orangerie for a few winter months that could be a solution if you make them potted and portable with the forklift. I love the addition of Illium btw, those lovely spheres are a seasonal delight! Oh and don’t forget French striped tulips for spring! Do plant them before the autumn chill! All the 17th and 18th century French still lifes of those huge parrot winged blumes on soft bending stalks are just THE period flower for Lalande’s vases and arrangements! They come in yellow with pink stripes too! If you order them now you’ll get a better price than later. Again, a wonderful diary entry here that I obviously missed, I’m enjoying catching up on them! Oh one more thing: try strawberries in Balsamico de Modena and maybe a tiny pich of sugar sometime with a spoon of fresh double cream. Mmmmm…. 🥰❤️
How entertaining .. lots of projects & updates ...but-- the tango @ the end was WOW !
Bravo to Sarah and Steve. This is a big leap. Claus (I LOVE handy people!)

When is Isabella coming back? If Dan gets a digger she needs to be there for the first drive.
Isabel better stay where she is, happy with Percy and maybe no masks, No Tests and vaccine
@@mags6452 it seems there are many worst places around the World at the moment
South Africa vaccination drive now going very fast after slow start.. So Percy and Isabella will have been vaccinated. Everyone has to wear masks.... But Delta variant is rife currently.. and South Africans still not allowed into some countries.. Hopefully this will change in the next few months
Stephanie and Selmar ~ that dance was absolutely amazing!
Congratulation to Steve and Sarah, well deserved. Enjoy your new venture.
Using pine for posts ,I would mount them on concrete piers to avoid rot
Also possibly a use for some of that redwood you cut, redwood is longest lasting wood around and is termite resistant and extremely slow to degrade. It's better than cedar I believe. Treat it like gold, in California it's been illegal to cut commercially for decades now because our redwood forests were cut for fences and cheap hanging planters and is becoming too scarce. With the fires & drought we have every year now we could lose all that remains, a climate change outcome & tragedy especially since live redwoods burn but bounce back but they can't live through our new super hot fire storms.
Yea I was surprised he wants to use pine for posts. They wont last.
This was one with many events, plans, awesome tango, best wishes to Marie - such variety of emotions!
Fantastic dancing Stephanie ‼️ and Selmar‼️
The Dancing 😍
Looks like Sara and Steve have*very soon* a beautiful Chateau and cannot wait until they settle into their new home and all is well for them! Cannot wait for the party and the time they will visit again. Philip certainly gave such a lovely gift with his research on their new Chateau! Seems like everyone is buying up the lovely Chateaus. They had many for sale but they are narrowing down quickly. People are learning about them and now they can be restored and how to get people to help them work with it to keep them going and 'make the house a home. ' Takes many hands to keep them going. They say "many hands make light work" So nice that the new volunteer fixed the door so nicely. This will make a big difference in Fall and various times of the year when the door could have blown open.
