    • I didn't see you mention this but the odyssey oled g9 has 7 million pixel 1 million below 4k. the lg has 5 million pixels. Pixels per inch are significantly lower on the lg 82. Pixels per inch on Samsung are 108 which is ok for production work.

  • Thank you for doing a side by side comparison! I have the G9 OLED and while I do appreciate the glossy OLED, coming from a Neo G9, the lack of curve is very glaring. Further, the G9 OLED has issues that many users have reported - heat glare in the center of the screen (even in idle and low ambient temps), runs hot along bottom edge of screen (likely due to poor heat dissipation), and white flickering sporadically (both on desktop and during gaming). Like you said, the center of the screen gets REALLY hot (and I was using normal desktop use). It was the same with the Neo G9. In summer, the room is a sauna - even if you use an AC your face gets warm. I believe this is due to the housing at the back of the monitor. Unlike the LG 45, the G9 has bad heat management and all of it is trapped inside the housing. The RGB also contributes to the heat, whereas on the LG you can see the RGB is along the edges not in the center. Burn in is affected by heat, so I am worried that heat issue will contribute to future burn in. Even worse, I cannot install a monitor arm because the screw holes at the back of the monitor are mis-aligned (less reported issue but I found a similar complaint on KZhead). If I have to send a brand new monitor like this back for repairs (for God knows how long) instead of a replacement, it will just add insult to injury. It is a good looking monitor, make no mistake, but Samsung monitor quality control is atrociously bad. And their service support takes forever. If anyone decides to buy the G9 OLED, please make sure you buy it from a store and ramp up the warranty.

    • I'm in the market for a new monitor. I have my eye on the Neo G9 49". I'm leaning towards Mini LED over the OLED because I also need it to work on 8 hours a day and Mini LED seem the way to go. My question to you is what GPU do you have as I'm a little concerned about gaming on the Neo G9 with a xtr 4080.

    • I bought the G9 Oled version that doesn't have the built in smart features and I have none of these issues. I also came from the original Odyssey G9. I miss the 1000r curve, but I got the monitor on sale for $1099. That was too good of a deal to pass on.

  • I just picked up the LG 45". I previously had a 4k OLED Auros monitor and I can say this LG monitor is super nice. The curve of this monitor I thought would just be a gimmick but coming from a 48" 4k flat panel (16:9) I can say that the curve along with the 21:9 ratio is much easier to take in and it also adds to the overall experience quiet a bit. My previous 4k panel didn't have Gsync but had Freesync pro and was able to force Gsync through compatibility purposes. With that being said I noticed a fair bit of quality issues that were extremely noticeable due to not being fully endorsed by Nvidia. In short if you enjoy Gsync please make sure you pick a monitor up with it fully supported because I noticed a huge difference in quality. OLED being the way that it is I always prefer a cooler monitor and with the matte screen (unpopular opinion) I prefer that. I find that nothing more distracting than trying to game and there's a huge glare on my screen. I've noticed zero issue with faint colors or less "pop" of color with it. Finally going from 4k down to 1440p I thought I was going to notice a huge difference in quality but honestly I don't. I have a 14th gen i9 cpu and a 4080 gpu. I can say with larger monitors I do prefer to get those frames and this thing being 2.25x less pixels helps me drive those framerates home. I don't think you can really go wrong with the LG. For any game that doesn't use 21:9 with OLED you get the inky black borders and the screen is still 27" so it's really a non issue for me. Media consumption was something I was worried about but once again within 10 minutes I was not even noticing the bars and was just enjoying the monitor again. My views on this monitor might be skewed as instead of paying 1700 for this monitor I was able to find an open box of this for around $950 which to me after using this monitor is an amazing price for what you are getting. Hope this helps someone trying to make the hardest decision of a monitor. Always remember after your computer is built the monitor is like the most used piece of hardware you can buy for your setup and in my opinion should be a very important part of your setup. Cheers!

  • Nice review, there are so few reviews comparing these two! I ended up buying both and returning the LG and keeping the G9. I absolutely loved everything about the LG, it was almost the perfect monitor. The screen size was perfect and super immersive. It was the matte screen that sunk it for me. I'm actually mad at LG for it, its like they designed the perfect monitor and someone at LG said "hmm what can we do now to ruin it? I know put on a matte screen!". It completly 100% ruined the OLED experience for me. If they ever bring out the LG at the same size with a glossy screen I'll go for it. Until then I took it back and got the G9 and am much happier. The OLED experience on the G9 is much better in my opinion, like night and day.

    • I have booth and can confirm this that u say. The glossy finish is something else on g9 side by matte on LG. Cant belive what a difference is that, and also PPI is really low on LG. The text is much sharper and cleaner on G9 OLED. Also the peek brightness and color production is better on G9 OLED. Only that I miss on G9 is format that is not supported wide on everything and that is reason why I keep LG also cause watching TV, youtube or browsing is a lot better experience on 21:9.

Worst case you can simple use other 3rd party software like PowerToyz to make certain regions a certain size so in your case 1/2 and 1/2. Then maybe do borderless gaming window which will snap on the right or left depending what you prefer.

    • Depends on how you sit. The horizontal width of the G9 afford windows to be placed side by side. With a low curve, it means you often have to turn your head to multi task. With the LG, I suspect it is less head turning and more head bobbing. The LG will definitely however be more immersive whereas the G9 is short but wide.

It's 800R curve is really immersive. For web browsing and strategy games that support super ultrawide, I prefer the G9 oled due to it's higher pixel density and ease of use for multiple windows. I do wish the oled g9 had the 1000r curve of the other mini led g9's. I have the previous 49" g9 at my work office and the 1000r curve so much better than the 1800r curve of the oled version. • Could you elaborate further on how bad the g9 OLED monitor is when used for productivity on a mac? If it’s like having 2 x 27” displays at 1440p each, then pixel density is 110ppi which is the standard on non retina displays. Mac OS scales perfectly to that resolution so I’d expect texts to be as sharp as on any 27” monitor with 2560x1440 resolution. I intend to use it with my Mac Studio m1 (resolution is supported) but want to be sure I can get very clear texts… I’m going to use it for both coding and office work. Thanks!

Out of all I will pick the 45 inch OLED tbh, because it's aspect ratio is more supported + it's resolution have more chances of hitting 240hz than others + you can use DSR to improve clarity making clarity an issue of the past tbh, DSR works really well in this monitor, as for Media Nvidia have upscaling option in setting which also works amazing.... The curvature was an issue for me before I bought it but after using it, it's perfect amount of curvature!!!! I don't want less or more... That said, the 21:9 aspect ratio is supported by every pc game I've played lately where as the 32:9 wasn't an option on a handful of titles. Also, I enjoyed the increased viewing area (top to bottom) offered on the LG even with its lower ppi density and the 800 curve is perfect on a screen of its size. I would prefer a gloss screen but the colors still "pop" regardless. It's a great time to be a GAMER! 💯

  • I didn't see you mention this but the odyssey oled g9 has 7 million pixel 1 million below 4k. the lg has 5 million pixels. Pixels per inch are significantly lower on the lg 82. Pixels per inch on Samsung are 108 which is ok for production work.

    • I like them OLED G9 for it's hybrid nature but I'm a bit worried about the displays overheating issue in the long run. If I had to take one, it'll have to be the Ultragear for longevity since these are expensive monitors.

  • good luck bro, ver interesting video. i have one question from you. Boh of those monitors have same resolution......x1440 in height, does not matter in lenght , of course samsung is longer. I am talking about height 1440. why are they looking different than each other in height , lg looks taller than samsung in height, but it is said both of these have same resolution in height ...x1440. tell me the why?

    @bierxchuluuteixvn@bierxchuluuteixvn4 ай бұрын
    • Because LG is indeed taller than the Samsung. They have the same number of pixels in height but the pixels on the LG are slightly larger.

  • For my opinion gaming on 2k when the monitor cost very high it's just not worth it, the details differences between 4k to 2k is very noticeable, if you have the money and the high end pc that can run 144hz 4k it's no brain for me. BUT I can say this, the 21:9 ratio gaming is truly fun and immersive experience for gaming, so 21:9 4k when the pc will support it, this is the ultimate experience.

  • I’ve been using the Samsung oled g9 for a while now primarily for sim racing. The Samsung g9 is known for just turning black for 2-3seconds randomly, Samsung is aware of the issue but they’re just not doing anything about it. Save yourself the headache and go with anything else.

  • I'm sorry but I'm waiting for the new QD OLEDs(3rd generation) and WOLEDs that they will present at CES 2024, 32" 4K 240Hz flat, aspect ratio more supported in games, glossy coating, 1300 nits of peak brightness(vs 1000 of current generation) and display port 2.1, lower cost since the panel is smaller, I don't really like super ultrawides (32:9) they take up too much space, in addition to this if I want to play with friends the curvature is not the best for a good viewing experience.

  • A nice review, I have been a PC gamer for over 20 years and I would like to add in for people that have never gamed with the super wide or ultra wide, my last 2 monitors was the native 16:9 1440p monitors, sadly at this Christmas I treated myself to a new Samsung Odessey G8 Oled, the monitor is great for gaming but I also like to watch youtube, tiktok and do some photoshop work and let me tell you after only 4 months I hate my monitor, ultrawides are only good for gaming, everything else they suck, watching a movie sucks, so after shelling out 1200 pounds I am trying to sell mine and go back to the native 16:9....

  • The smart bs on the OLED G9 creates more issues than anything. I always had issues with the screen flashing black, and also not coming back on when I selected the pc. It was annoying af, so I sent it back and went back to my Neo G9 which looks close to as good as the OLED.... Wasn't worth the cost to upgrade.

  • You did get some facts wrong about both display technologies. WOLED and QDOLED are both VERY resistant to burn in due to not needing to push more power to the pixels to achieve a higher perception of light compared to standard OLED panels- and both Samsung and LG have implemented screen care technology to pixel shift static elements to help prevent burn-in in the first place. Both displays have their advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage with WOLED is that it produces a more rich Red compared to QDOLED which can be perceived as more Orange. So far, there has not been extensive testing of both technologies - so making blanket statements like you did @ 8:47 can be a bit misleading to the consumer. Any OLED-type display will be susceptible to burn in. It all is dependent on the monitor's ability to do the proper "oled care" Also, with the G-Sync / Freesync part of the video @ 12:33 - it would be a good idea to mention that any "Freesync Premium Pro" monitor will be compatible with Nvidia Gsync capable cards.

  • That LG Ultra Gear is no buneo. Because it has a very low ppi. But the 27-inch LG Ultra Gear Oled has a higher ppi. The Samsung Odyssey I had , but I traded. I dont like that you can watch movies at that resolution to take up the display. To me, for 2500, you should be able to watch everything at the full display. There should be no black bars ever!! That's rent money for a monitor. But the whole Samsung interface is terrible, in my opinion. I have a high-end pc and still can't get 240hz.

  • Some advice: Please bring some useful info to the consumer other than what is on the manufacturers spec sheet. For example: measure the dimensions. How tall are both monitors with and without stands? how deep are the curvatures? This is valuable info that is not readily available everywhere and will make your channel actually stand out. Overall, you brought zero informational value to the average viewer.

    • It's that anti glare semi-gloss coating the QD-OLEDs havs causing it, it makes blacks look gray beneath light. I had the Alienware AW3423DW which suffered from that issue, and I got the LG 45" OLED in this video next which did not have that issue at all. If the coating was the same glossy kind on that LG uses on their TV's, it would have been perfect.
