T-15 is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle made on the new Armata platform developed in Russia. While many IFVs don't have good protection and rather focus on mobility, T-15 and a few other IFVs don't. That is something that makes them unique, but there are many other things that make T-15 unique...

Former American 19D/K here: The '15 is a nice system and well designed. In comparison to the BMD/BMP/PT series vehicles it is a remarkable improvement both in firepower and protection. However (you were expecting that word to pop up), the issue is Infantry protection and deployment, as opposed to the cost of weapon system. Wars regardless of which nation conducts them, usually end up using the cheapest equipment available to successfully accomplish the job. When the battle taxis start costing Millions of anything but Lira, the problems start. Otherwise, excellent video!
Good job perfectly describing the battlefield Situation in Ukraine, where BMP-1 and Humvees have more impact than BTR-4 and T15

This video is great. Keep up the good work, man 👍
Great job as always! Would be really nice to see a similar video for the PUMA IFV. Especially interesting would be the way in which Germany deploys IFVs within their armor doctrine. I’m not an expert on this, but what I mean is the separation in mobilized infantry (Panzergrenadiere) and the light infantry (Jäger) and how the mobilized infantry always operates together with MBTs. Maybe you could show how that affected the development of the puma.
Wait what? So what are the purpose of the Jäger wing if they are separated from the combined arms doctrine, like low intensity combat or asymmetric warfare? Thank you.
doesn't everyone else do this too? no one sends mbts on their own
Name Surname don’t quote me, I’m not an expert on this field, but for example the US Army uses IFVs more like battlefield taxis. The infantry and the MBTs are usually paired together, but they follow different objectives and they kinda support each other, but they are not inherently one unit. In the German doctrine there are two kinds of infantry and the Panzergrenadiere are always attached to a tank unit, they rarely operate as a single unit. So in a way they don’t use the infantry to sweep up after the tanks breached trough the area, but the infantry moves in side by side with the MBTs. That’s why German tanks don’t have ERA and I would guess that’s also a reason why the Puma isn’t the best IFV to fight other MBTs, since it doesn’t need that when always has the fire support of a Leopard at its side.
Rakai Pikatan they are the paratroopers (Fallschirmjäger), the mountain troops (Gebirgsjäger) light light infantry (Feldjäger) and maybe some more. They are usually more specialized and not used in wide open combat but in their special designated role.
Having served as a gunner on Marder A3 I think mechanised infantry is the better translation. The analogy of the IFVs as purely a battle taxi is selling it a bit short. You basically have battle groups of IFVs who’s purpose is primarily driven by the environment. That can be troop protection and fire support like in the ISAF mission, ie battle taxi. Against a more capable enemy this could be that, but also anti MBT missions (Marder was equipped with Milan) or using the 20mm gun against other IFVs, lighter targets such as trucks and infantry (Marder had 2 types of ammo - one armour piercing, the other one HE or even anti aircraft (crude, but depending on enemy equipment still effective against transport fixed wing and helicopters).
Please make 9ne on the puma too, i loved this! Also, this seems like it would be a crazy expensive ifv compared to others
I wouldn't be surprised if its USD cost is comparable to western equivalents
biggest issue with Puma is the current production unit operated by Bundeswehr doesn't have ATGM launchers integral to the turret in fact the Spiker ATGM launcher tested by the Bundeswehr was pretty much a box that was ADHOC tacked onto the side the turret.
That why it will be prototype untill it becomes obsolete. russian do not have golden rublles to buy them.
@@nemisous83 where is the problem? They don't have to be integral as they can just bolt them on if needed.
@@user-tk5jx4ih4g that's like saying its okay if a tank has no armor because it will be added on later. As it stands the Bundeswehr doesnt have any Puma's with ATGM launchers

I am amazed at the extent of your research! Fantastic! Thanks! A thought: if they're like the Armata - they may be VERY expensive and heavy - to only carry a platoon of troops. If you need to move a BUNCH of troops and you can only afford a FEW vehicles - you might have a problem. Protecting the troops from small arms and shrapnel in a cheaper, lighter, and more easily deliverable (in quantity) package, may be more cost effective in number of troops delivered, casualties saved and war fighting end result. I hope to God nobody ever needs to find out the answer to those questions in a real war.

I would say the Puma is better when you look at the changeable armor, the high technology built in it and more numbers than t-15. Its also intergrated in the german way of how the tanks, Panzergrenadiers and other armored forces work with each other.
Puna is top of the class. But I do think T-15 has more modularity as it was built around it. It's a lego on tracks. Technology should be decent on Russian one as this was priority. And how do German system work? Russia already using battle management systems and it was also one the reasons Russia went to Syria to test it (battle management systems, not IFVs)
I think the puma has no aps system yet. As long as this is the case my money is on the t15. But maybe they will add trophy or a hopefully a german aps system later on
