Through history many cultures have passed down legends. Legends are based on an element of truth, the rest is mythical and left up to your imagination.

  • Back in like 1969, my siblings ages 4, 5, and 8 swear they saw a huge pterodactyl type of bird while we lived in a small town in Mexico. They ran, but my 4 yr old brother fell down. They swear the bird dove down as if to try to get my brother, but my sisters ran back for him and ran to a house nearby. Nobody believed them.

  • I was told by an insider to the Indian tribal police somewhere in NM that a couple were tresspassing on a reservation and came across a bird that was larger than a person. At first they just heard a huge flapping sound. Then they looked up and saw it. They were miles inside the reservation and upon returning to their vehicle they were confronted by tribal police. They were reportedly scared and had a traumatized look on their faces. The police acknowledged that what they had in fact seen was well known already to the tribe as the thunderbird.

  • Many years ago I saw an interview with a World War II fighter pilot that was stationed in Guadalcanal during the Pacific War. In his interview he claimed that him and some other officers and Local Natives climbed a large jungle hill looking for wild fruit that grows there. He was saying when they got to the top of the hill they heard a strange noise on the opposite slope. They went to look to see what was making the noise. The Local Natives with them got very spooked and wanted to get out of the area. he said a huge flying creature came out of some high grass. he said it was huge with at least a 20 foot wingspan. and he said there was no doubt about it that this was some type of prehistoric pterodactyl. He said when it jumped off the ground and it started flapping its massive wings and it was actually moving the grass underneath it as it flew down the grassy Hill. the other officers were also witness to this.. he describes it had a pointy Crown coming off the back of its head. He said there was no doubt in his mind that this was some type of prehistoric flying creature.

  • Based on my own experience, I would have to lean towards believing this. I, my cousin and my nephew saw one or a "bird" larger than ANY bird I'd ever seen before in real life. It was back in 2010 in Laurel Maryland on a walking trail behind Main street. It was standing on a branch high up in the trees. It seemed to have no hair or feathers. It was kind of a grayish color. All I could think of at the moment was holy shit. If this thing comes down here we're dead. We slowly walked away back towards my apartment to get to safety. We said nobody would believe us and to this day that remains true. It still doesn't change what we saw. The creepiest part was its enormous head. You could actually see its huge eyes blink. Crazy experience.

    • I believe your story. I once read a book called Ancient Traces. They interviewed eyewitnesses of this bird that looks like a pterodactyl. There were no photos because they either froze at the sight of it or that they had no camera at the time of the sightings.. there are actually even more documentations about the possible sightings of dinosaurs especially in really forested areas and a lot of other discoveries that would question evolution but most of them were rejected because of the rukus it would create and the fact that a lot of books would need to be rewritten.

    • @Millenial Picasso Yeah, for some odd reason I actually feel jealous about the people who claim to see one themselves but also feel sorry because no one believes them. I want to witness one myself even when I know that it'll be terrifying... I also read about an expedition in Africa where a dinosaur like creature called by the locals as Mokele-mbembe was feared by the locals. The scientists failed to see one themselves but they saw huge tracks that were possibly left by it. They also brought pictures of dinosaurs, and some of the locals recognized a Mokele-mbembe. Even without a photograph to prove it, why would the locals lie?

  • Don't care who believes or won't. My wife and I saw one or some thing like one 4 days ago in west central Colorado. We were camping along a 11,000 ft cliff crest. It was soaring on the updraft. In three stages it got to over 1,000ft above the cliff. The wife says "look at the size of that bird!" I says "That there ain't no bird. Looks like a giant bat but it soars like a raptor." She says "It's a Pterodactyl!!!" and that is what we both saw. Then it did something I never seen a bird do. It scrunched up tight then straightened out into a dive and disappeared into the tree line. A couple minutes later a single engine plane flew over the same area headed easterly. That cryptid was bigger than the plane. Thats why I found this video. Need to see if anyone else has seen anything similar.

    • There's a problem with this theory: the sightings describe the pterosaurs as a hybrid between Pteranodon and Ramphorynchus, both species being separated by millions of years apart, and were both extinct long before the end of the Cretaceous period. By the end of the Cretaceous most pterodactyloids were extinct, replaced by the giant azhdarcids(Quetzalcoatlus, Hatzegopteryx etc) Additionally: their physical depictions just happen to coincide with the typical pterodactyloid-ramphorynchid hybrid design from old cartoons. On a final note: dragons are the result of when early hominids had just developed abstract thinking, and through creative outlet created the first Boogeyman by combining the three predators that primates generally fear the most: big cats, birds of prey, and snakes. That basic concept of a nightmarish beast was carried on by the next generations for thousands of years, taking on various varieties with time, resulting in monsters such as the Mushushu, Ammit, the Hydra, Jormungandr, Quetzalcoatl, and so on and so forth. If dragons did exist, we would've found fossilized remains. Not only bones, but footprints, skin impressions, even droppings.

First we thought it was a big vulture but as it circuld back we could see it looked like a teridacyl. Weird part that very same day the Travis County Sherrif office got over 60 calls by people who also saw the same thing flying over the cornfields.

  • Okay.. Whether you believe me or not i would love to share my experience watching a pair of these tombstone birds while standing on my terrace at 5:30 am i heard extremely loud screams just like many kids are screaming very loud I woke up because the screams were hitting my brain and straight away went to my terrace to know what's going on And the next moment i was standing there absolutely stunned and motionless There were two of these tombstone birds who just landed on a electric pole wires screaming loudly and everything was so quiet even the crows and the others birds were as quiet as dead and no one was moving as these birds were so huge, big and they were looking exactly like big dinosaur birds and they were immensely huge having a wingspan of at least 12-15 feet and were looking right into my eyes We had an eye contact as i was the only person who was standing just 20 feet away from them .... I was motionless and a little terrified, never saw such a creature or heard of such birds as if they still exist or not So we kept staring at each other for 10-20 secs and then they flew away and the electric pole wire was completely bend down because of their weight so they couldn't hang on and just flew away right infront of my eyes with a huge wingspan as they flew above my head I still believe that these unbelievably huge dark brown birds are "TOMBSTONE THUNDER BIRDS" The whole scenario is 100% true as i explained and still alive in my memory!

If it were an actual real pterosaur, it would have had features that weren't known to pterosaurs by people instead of resembling outdated, inaccurate pterosaurs of the late 19th/early 20th century. Because of this, the Tombstone Thunderbird is not a real pterosaur and is in fact a hoax.

  • I’m gonna go with it is real, based on the article that was written about it in that area at that time. The picture surfacing after all this time could have been well kept by generational hands along with the negatives. This is the kind of thing that the Smithsonian would seek to obtain proof of & lock away from Historical facts. Like the giant skeletons found buried in North America & many other interesting things. This picture looks possibly authentic except for the heavy clothing worn by the men in a traditionally hot region. The picture could have been carefully photoshopped. But the Thunderbird is a claim of Indian Tribes that lived in these areas also. Then claims from People living in Mexico or stories heard from living relatives can be researched for matches also. The thunderbird claim itself has lived through many parts of our current culture in the United States, including strong wines, Ford cars & Indian art works, among multiple other things...

    • lol the smithsonian didnt lock away or dump and giant skeletons in the ocean. Thats from an old World News Daily tabloid article that also claims a 79yr old sea captain was raped by mermaids lol.. Think about it for a second, what would even be the point of hiding giant bones? It wouldn't prove any religion or disprove any evolution theory. All it would do is add MORE evidence to evolutionary theory. We have the bones of giant beavers, sloths, allegators etc, so there would be no point to 'hide' any giant humanoid or bird fossils. As for the big birds, people most likely found the bones and then made elaborate stories about them. If something like bigfoot or these big birds truly still exist we would have scientific evidence by now.

I looked up at what looked like a Thunderbird.. it's wings were like an eagle, straight out, not moving, cruising very slowly. all around were vultures flanking this giant bird, just cruising with it... I knew the vultures wingspan to be 3ft..this thunderbird was 6 times wider than the vultures! they just kept soaring on about60ft off the ground, the height of one of our average pine trees.....conclusion? thunderbirds are here and they look like the ones depicted in Native lore and art, not like a teridactyl... • I saw 2 twice in the summer of '91 once alone once with my father in the top of a 60 ft. Loblolly pine in my yard in denton texas..watched them both times for several minutes..very aware of the wildlife me and my father both grew up bird hunting..these things were unlike any north American bird or any large bird currently listed on earth..I have a pretty solid idetic memory..espicaly from events at this age..iv'e thought about trying to recreate and depict exactly what we saw..they were kinda bounding from branch to branch at each other..wasn't realy like fighting..may have been more of a mating thing but they were identical in every way wich would lead me to think they were likely the same sex..the first time I saw them alone they were eyeing me very close in an uncomfortable way..it was almost like I got them worked up and the were pre squabbling before the squabbling that was about to occur when they tried to predate me..that's exactly what it felt like..the second time about 3 or 4 weeks later with my father they were bounding at each other but in a more playful type way but realy letting their weight hit the limbs and they were causing the entire top of this huge loblolly pine to jerk and sway around...there were two other pines just like it on each side and their tops were completly still it wasn't from wind..I'd seen countless large birds of prey in the tops of thoes tree moving around while growing up..great horned owls, red tail hawks, Swanson Hawkes, and nothing ever moved the tops of the trees around like these did...I never got to see them fly or take off..I did see them unfurl their wings about half way a few times and they would of had a wingspan twice as wide as our largest voultures..I spent a month in the mayan riveria as a kid and hot to see Albatros fly around alot at these birds were at least 50%-75% larger than the largest Albatros I've seen..and they are supposed to have the biggest wing spans...the birds were unique in the fact that the entire bird..feathers, legs, beaks, heads, brwasts, undersides, topside were all the exact same monochromatic color and tone of what I'd call like Hershey bar dark brown..no variance at all in tone or color anywhere on the birds...they had a beak much like a large eagle, like a bald eagle, but much more exaggerated and larger in size in comparison to the body...somewhere between the realitive size of a bald eagle and a toucan in reference to the rest of their body..maybe 1.5x-2x the size of a bald eagles in comparison to the size of the head...they had huge muscular legs and feet, all that same monochromatic color, even the talons, much like the beak larger in size by comparison to an eagle but much like a blade eagles in structure..kinda like a cross between a vulture and an eagles..the only thing on the bird that varied in tone at all were the eyes which, were absolutely massive, they were a slightly darker brown like real dark choclate..very defined like a bald eagles but more boublous..the reminded be of the cartoon woodpeckers bulging eyes...I actualy thought after the second sighting to go look at the base of the tree for feathers..I did find one huge what I imagine was a breast feather...it was very fine and soft like a beast feather but 2x-3x the size of a turkey vultures breast feather..it got lost over the years unfortunatly..I wish I knew a realy good animated artist..I think I could depict the look and actions and movements of the birds quite well if I could work with someone realy good..as amazing as it was the imagery imprinted in my brain very well..my father is still around and remembers it well too..so he could help work it out too...I think it would be realy Interesting

  • The conversation on this occurrence is deep. As a former investigator, we have to always remember that testimony, as strange as it may be, may be truthful. If we initially discredit testimony based on probability, we eliminate investigative leads. As for this recordedmaccount, it was not accompanied by a photograph, which this media outlet could have certainly hired a photographer to photograph it even if they didn't have the ability to mass produce it in a newspaper. Something as eventful as a Pterasaur creature being captured would certainly influence people to hire a photographer, and we all know they had this option. I was also a professional photographer for 11 years and it is not difficult to scan a photo and use basic photo editing tools to isolate pixels to find editing anomalies. You cannot do this with a completely digitally created photo except to discover that the photo is 100% a digital creation. You MUST have access to the original photograph. Also, a reasonable person would have taken steps to preserve the evidence of the creature long enough to ship it to a place where it could be examined and recorded photographically. We also have to assume for the continuity of investigation that the testimonies are factual. If we discredit the outright we do a disservice to investigative craft and justice. For the purpose of truthfulness, we have at our disposal a plethora of testimonies from eye witness accounts throughout the 19th century of sightings of these creatures. So accountability demands that, even though we do not have a hard copy of this photo, we cannot conclude that it does not exist or that the event is not true. All we can do at this time is label the event as inconclusive. I would also submit that no evolutionary based timeline may be used in a court of law because no bone in the dirt can be used as evidence as all we know is that the creature died. One simply cannot use the defense that the published event is impossible because we know these creatures died out millions of years ago. No bone in the rock has a timestamp. None. And since we find pig bones in strata believed to also be a strata that made other creatures extinct, we cannot conclude other creatures have also become extinct.

It really sounds like these stories were passed on by word of mouth for good reason. Many years ago, at our home in Caloocan City, Philippines (a very urbanized place with very few trees), a huge creature landed on our roof, flapped its wings, and made a bone-chilling howl. Its weight almost broke the roof upon landing and continued to vibrate because of the very strong wind made by its huge wings. At least four of us were present at that time, between 2 to 3 AM. The encounter lasted two minutes. A decade later, my cousin who lived at the same compound, while driving to his workplace in the afternoon, encountered a big, black, "dinosaur with wings" (as he described) along the road. The thing was blocking the way and seemingly eating something on the ground. Shocked, he felt that his strength left him and made him almost paralyzed. But when it lifted its head, looked straight at him, spread its wings, and howled, instinctively he turned his motorcycle back and drove as fast as he can. Now the question is, how is it possible for this creature to still exist, especially in the city? I believe it accidentally entered a portal. I've watched and read many documentaries about these portals and learned that this phenomenon has been documented accross the globe and generations.

The original picture was a "thunderbird." Likely one of the largest specimen of California Condor ever recorded. (maybe vulture from coloration.) It was nailed up behind the old timers. The second picture was the one that looked like a pterodactyl but it was laying on the ground. Those two photos got mixed up and someone made fakes years later.

Very clever piece of photo-retouching that the Soviets would have been envious of! truewestmagazine.com/tombstone-epitaph/ The whole story's crap in all likelihood. It's not as if the media became untrustworthy and have only lied in the last ten years. Yellow journalism is a term that dates back to the 1800s. Before the term "false flag" event became vogue in the last decade, they were faking things, making up stories, and blowing things out of proportion to sell newspapers. It's no different than today! AT least with The Onion and the Weekly World News you knew it was BS made up for fun. • One day in Arkansas I was duck hunting a very remote levy by myself. Toward late afternoon I witnessed an enormous bird flying due west from me. Now, as a long time duck and goose hunter I can identify ANY large species of bird. A hunter has to be able to do this so that he does not violate hunting rules for seasons of various species of crane and goose. This bird I saw has a wingspan of at least 10 feet. It did not appear to be what we see in the photo in this video. However, I could NOT identify this bird. It was very dark gray and black. It was flying very high. Perspective can be a hard thing to dissect, but when your skills are honed to identify high flying birds, you can quite easily identify bird species. In no way did this bird remotely resemble a crane, heron, eagle, or goose. I know what a Sandhill crane is and I know them to have the largest wingspan of any north American bird. This was NOT a Sandhill crane because it's neck was short. Sandhill carafes fly with an outstretched neck and it's very long. They are a flock species and migrate as a flock. Also, the flapping of the wings was so slow due to the immense size of them. The larger the wing surface area, the less they have to flap in order to create lift. The closest thing I could assimilate the bird to was a giant Raven. That was the closest shape that it resembled. This was no raven. Not to mention Raven during the fall group up for migration. Although there are exceptions to most rules for birds, there were no other large birds visible from horizon to horizon. Regardless of hunting regulations, if this bird was close enough to be in shotgun range, I would have certainly killed it. Also realize that a certain breed of woodpecker was determined to be extinct yet it was rediscovered in Arkansas and I had seen this woodpecker before while muzzle loader hunting in the state forest in Eastern Arkansas. I didn't realize at the time what species it was because it looked so much like the Pileated Woodpecker and that's what I thought it was. I had no idea what the supposed extinct one was which proves that we may see creatures in the wild and not even realize what we actually saw because we are biased based on what we know to be true.

Its head wasn't this point but it had a beak and then some bone type thing coming back. I got a clear look at it and couldn't believe it. At first I assumed it was a goose from the pond nearby but it was not. Very dull gray color with the strange 2 probg head and no feathers just looked like skin. Granted I saw it from underneath only with a slight tilt as it flew above and accross the street. Any info on what it could be would be appreciated. I can't say for certain it was this but it was similar to this type of thing. No eagle or goose and very large for any bird I've seen in Ohio.
