    • A classmate in Grade 3 made fun of my nose and ears, said I looked like a Volkswagen screeching to a halt with both doors wide open. Messed me right up. Couldn't look in a mirror at my own hideousness. Never dated at all in high school. Got a nose job and my ears pinned back at nineteen but I've never really recovered. Somehow I managed to attract a gorgeous girl when I was 22 and marry her but I could never understand what she saw in me. I'm 73 now. Btw, welcome to the Taylorverse. We're the nicest people.

    • I think as a woman, I related to all of it but I have gone down the rabbit hole of wanting to be a “good girl too”. I think that is hard to escape from when we are raised to practically forget about ourselves and live in purpose to only think about others. While serving others is not a bad thing, most of the time we are taught to be “selfless” in order to be perceived as a good woman. I’m actively trying ensure I am taking care of my well-being first.

    • The fact that she was able to verbalize that her entire moral code was based on being a good girl. Growing up, me & my sister were taught that to be good person was to be independent & uber-competent. We were treated as adults from a young age, which was nice in some ways, but we were never really given any guidance on HOW to do things. We were expected to figure it out. It has definitely impacted both of our relationships as an adult. I also have ADHD & depression. That hyper independent mindset was not a good combo with my ADHD. My brain linked accepting/ asking for help with being a failure. I'm in my 30s, and I'm just now starting to untangle everything. Yay for therapy!

    • A lot actually. The wanting to be perfect & caring too much abt people's judgement. Also, when she talks abt being sorry to anyone who wasn't believed, I appreciate that.But in my case I don't thk it was that I wasn't believed....it was abt who he was. I was sexually harrased by my boss. I made the mistake of going to a "local" lawyer & they didn't want to go up against him because of his status. I left the job over what he did. Looking back I wish I'd went to someone he wasn't in the know with!

But I think the reason why so many people don't like her is that they haven't given her a fair shake and have just formed an opinion about her and her music based on what other people have said. That's not really very fair.

  • When Taylor admitted she had an eating disorder in Miss Americana, that broke my heart. I have been a big fan for years. I always thought she was pretty, but what made me a fan was how much love, work, and heart she put into her music. And how generous she is. I thought those things mattered infinitely more than how she looked. Is she perfect? No. Nobody is. She is human like the rest of us. I hope she realizes how awesome she is though at this point. ♥️♥️♥️ Her fans love her and really want her to be happy with her life and success.

    • Well for example my aunt has Fibromyalgia. If you just loot at her you would think she's perfectly healthy but she struggles with crippling pain, fatigue, and insomnia. So her medical condition is "invisible", a lot of people treat her like she's healthy and have a hard time understanding why she cannot do all of the same things they can.

    • I get it. People believe you have to be bleeding, walking with a cane, or you have been admitted to an institution before they will believe anything is wrong with you. It's frustrating. I have a pretty significant learning disability in math and struggle with executive functioning. People my whole life accused me of being lazy. But my brain just functions different so I have to figure out how to make things work differently than other people do. Same with invisible illnesses. My step father has Fibromyalgia. There's only so much he can do on a given day. But he does his best. And truthfully, that is all any of us can do.

I had that happened with my family when I told them about how my Dad had child P and I knew about it since I was a child but it wasnt until I have an adult I realized how horrible it was. It reflects in ALL her songs (each her song is meaningful..teaching me bout how to navigate through my life, assessing my feelings & even my egos..that is if u truly listen to it)..her songs not just a catchy tunes..or love fantasy or heartbreaks..there's always so much more to it..to every song. & i always thought that i knew everything bout her..but when this movie came out, i was shock to a lot of things that i didnt know (i mean how she truly felt or perceived herself to certain things..) Im truly glad she's made this movie & reveal her tru-self.. All these years, i always think of myself as one of her greatest fans/swifties..& also her 'invisible' friends. There’s people who still don’t know that she was telling the truth all along and their entire conversation is out there. He did call to ask her to release his song and she explicitly said she didn’t want to be called a “dumb bitch”. The layers in this documentary just like in her songs are just unbelievable. Thank you for reacting! Hope you continue to discover more of her music, even if you don’t react to it. When you’re listening to the albums, pay special attention to the Track 5 in each, that spot is reserved for the most raw and emotional song in the album. • THANK YOU for saying that therapists and entertainers and basically everyone has the right to an opinion. Unfortunately laws are being made to take that away especially from therapists at least in my country and its really sad.

  • At first, I was 50/50 on being a fan of Taylor Swift because there some songs I liked from her works, I loved her creativity in her music videos, how she carried herself, and how she constantly fought against her nemeses. The other part was that I couldn't really relate to some of her works as well because she was changing, trying to meet people's expectations (which I didn't know about until her documentary) and I felt she wasn't being who she was, she wasn't being her authentic true self. Until her folklore and evermore albums. Her folklore album captivated me, made me pay full attention to her, and for the first time I felt that she was truly stepping into her power and speaking her truth and unapologetically being herself. Taylor worked hard for her success, her future, and she deserves it.

  • It always annoys me SO MUCH when people say, "I'm not listening to their music anymore because I disagree with them." I disagree with almost every celebrity, but I can put that aside and enjoy their art. It's not that complicated. People are so ridiculous.

    @Zachx@Zachx2 жыл бұрын
    • Yes but sometimes even listening to their voice puts you off, even if you used to enjoy it. Some people just can’t separate the art from the artist, and they don’t have to. Some things can’t be forgiven.

  • You hit the nail on the head when you said about differentiating our opinion from others. I think the issue is how much influence celebrities have over us. We hang on their every word. We need to remove that and see them as real people.

  • New to your channel, youtube did its algorithm thing and put this video on my front page. I clicked on with with trepidation thinking "what kind of so-called mental health professional is going to make comments about someone else in public like this?" I was prepared to really hate what you produced. I was only going to watch a few minutes to verify that it was awful because... I guess I'm bored today? :) Thank you for surprising me. I thought your comments were spot on, constructive, and instructive to others. It makes me want to look at the other videos on your channel. ♥

  • I’ve found that you could nit pick and find a million things you don’t like about yourself, change it all to whatever you think is better, completely change things or swap it around, do whatever you felt the need to do to fit your own standards, but I can guarantee it wouldn’t ever be enough. There’s hundreds of things I’d change, things I hate about the way I look, I know others who think the same way, some people would love to have what you have because they don’t have it and vice versa, but it would literally never be good enough, because the world would say it isn’t, we got what we have and love it or loathe it, it’s ours and it keeps us alive and it does what it’s suppose to do and it does a damn good job, it loves you even if you might not love it back, it still keeps your heart beating, that’s the important part.
