Description: SCP-096 is a humanoid creature measuring approximately 2.38 meters in height. Subject shows very little muscle mass, with preliminary analysis of body mass suggesting mild malnutrition. Arms are grossly out of proportion with the rest of the subject's body, with an approximate length of 1.5 meters each. Skin is mostly devoid of pigmentation, with no sign of any body hair.

I'm really surprised the spc concept hasn't been adapted into a series like the X-Files yet. It's a treasure trove of interestingly eerie content. The closest I've seen has been cabin in the woods, but it was more focused on protagonists rather the creatures themselves. I'd love to see this explored in live action.

What if you put a mask on 096 that covers all of its facial features? Since you can’t see his actual face, wouldn’t it be safe to look at his upper body? If a bag worked, why wouldn’t a mask. The upkeep and potential transferring of it would be much easier.

That’s literally what they do. A mask is pointless since a basic bag over the head makes it safe for transportation. The risk comes with it being noticeable in any number of pictures taken over the years being caught by pure chance. That someone could stumble across.
The real danger is the pictures of it that might already exist

It would still get SCP-096 to attack, since your brain doesn't actually have to process anything. You don't have to observe the creature, you just have to look at it once even without knowing what you're looking at is its face, and you're already condemmned.

This is one of the better SCPs. The way it’s kind of comprehensible that it’s freaking out upon being seen as if it’s monstrously ashamed of its own horrific appearance. But not just that, the most important thing is that makes some trivial thing we do scary, imagining that we may accidentally catch a glimpse of it if we aren’t careful with what we look at, even if it’s just some indiscernable pixels in a photo. Were it real, this fear would br debilitating unless you’re just blind. Same with like 173, where the act of just blinking or turning around and it just appears in front of you and with every inevitable momentary blink it inches further towards you.

A bit of story time here, Most of my family is into SCP and one of my cousins came to visit my family and I one day and she really wanted to know about SCP 096. Like REALLY wanted to know so I took her, older her sister, her older brother, and my brother up to my room so I could tell them and afterwards I showed them this video. Well a few days after christmas we were all at my grandma's house and looking at some of her old ski pictures when all of a sudden we start hearing waling and crying... so were all a little freaked out but my cousin who wanted to learn about it was REALLY freaked out and started crying. Turns out her sister took advantage of the pics and decided it'd be funny to try and freak us out by playing a distorted voice recording.

JUST A THEORY: Why not show scp073 (Cain) a photo of the shy guy. So that all the damage the shy guy inflicts on him gets reflected back to himself and he won't stop until he himself is dead.

A few criticisms I have: 1: They didn't start shooting at 096 because it started crying. Quoting the actual document, "[They] started firing when it picked up Corporal ██ and ripped off his leg. " 2: You said that Dr. Dan showed the tattoo artist non-facial pictures of 096 to confirm that it was only aggravated upon viewing its face. I think the reason the convict was shown multiple pictures was because they didn't know which one was a picture of its face. 3: I don't think the thing with Dr. Dan releasing the creature into the public is canon, is it? It doesn't appear in the wiki document.
