Even PUTIN STOOD UP! American fighter surprised everyone! The Snowman against Siberian Bear!

This fight came into the history of Russian MMA. In June of 2012 American athlete Jeff Monson who wasn’t Russian citizen nor Russian politic by that moment, was known in Russia mostly as the fighter who fought against Fedor Emelianenko at the great M-1 event in Moscow.
After that defeat Jeff recovered and fought three more times. He won in two of them, the third was the draw. After that Jeff got the chance to come back to M-1 events. It was at another great event in St.-Petersburg, where Fedor was the headliner again, this time Fedor’s opponent was legendary Pedro Rizzo. Many very famous politics and sportsmen were in the audience watching this event live.
Monson had a chance to take on the famous Russian fighter Denis “Siberian Bear” Komkin. Almost no one knew what American is going to do before making his entrance to the ring. But as soon as his entrance song started to play, everyone in the Ice Palace stood up and the arena was full of cheering. Unfortunately, the video can’t fully translate what happened this evening at the venue, but you can believe us that it was just epic. That’s when American fighter Jeff Monson took the first step into his new life.

  • I met Jeff years ago at a BJJ tournament where we were both competing (different ranks and weight classes). He's really cool to talk with, but an absolute BEAST on the mat and in the cage/ring! One of my all-time favorite fighters.

  • Excelente pelea...a pesar de la superioridad de Emelianenko...Monson no se tiró para atrás....peleó con dignidad hasta lo ultimo y muy lastimado...Emelianenko un caballero y optimo deportista...el mejor de todos...nunca humilló a Monson...supongo que eso fuè lo que tambien valoró el presidente (que tambien es deportista)...ahora Monson es ruso(y está orgulloso)...de nuevo excelentisima pelea.

    • Well Denis you seem to have read a lot into what I thought was an innocuous comment. Jeff has taken a big step and it's admirable that he followed up on his principles. I wasn't aware of his comments demonizing gays however, which are hard to rationalize considering that they are how they were born. Human. It's hardly a life choice . He worked as a mental health professional for five years, both in a crisis evaluation role for Cascade Mental Health in Lewis County, Washington, as well as a child and family counselor.[9] However, having major success in Abu Dhabi Combat Club events and at other mixed martial arts (MMA) shows, he decided to leave the mental health profession to devote himself full-time to MMA.
