Two Point Hospital Strategy & Tactics Quick Tip: Machine Rooms
Today we cover a variety of rooms in the form of the machine room. From the pharmacy to the cardiogram to the Deluxe clinic, machine rooms come in all shapes and sizes but the design philosophy behind them remains similar. In addition, I'll be giving you some tips for not only building your machine rooms well, but how to properly upgrade them.

There is a better way to upgrade. And a lot of people dont know it. Have a room as you have, but keep it running. Now build another room with just a machine and put it on lock. Upgrade it to last lvl. Now the room you are using -- use edit and sell the un-upgraded machine there. Then press edit on upgraded machine and simply move it in room that you are using it. (and sell the closed room) No need for patients to wait.

both are equally valid solutions, because here's the kicker. Even if you have a queue of 20+ people waiting for the room you're wanting to upgrade, the moment you hit that close button, they all move their feet, and form an orderly queue outside the next available room should one be available. If there is no second/third room available, they will of course not go anywhere, and will instead gain that icon above their heads that says they're waiting for you to build a room, and you have 200 seconds to do so before they leave. I personally have used both methods a lot, but in the end it doesn't really matter in the long term which you go for. There is one benefit to the method used in this video though: the machine you're upgrading will be repaired at the same time, so literally no downtime while waiting for a janitor to finish his inevitable repair job.

I didnt know you coould close the rooms thank you so much. I build one room and did not have the right doctor for some time and it was mayhem so now I know how to fix that.
2 years on and Ive come back to This great game but on the Switch now due to the recent sale + all the DLCs etc. But more importantly I'm back watching Pinstars videos again as let's be fair... I'm just gonna add my identical comment stating that I didn't know that you could close the room. That is soooo useful. It's annoying when I have to manually remove a nurse from a room that's being worked on.
Love, love, love your videos with the clear step by step guides on how to recreate your fab rooms and also the background on why you are doing things certain ways. The emphasis on efficiency and shortest walking distances for patients are exactly what I'm looking for. Even as an original Theme Hospital addict back in the 90s, your video has made TPH even more enjoyable for me. Thank you so much for all your hard work. Please could we have a 'Milton GP office' equivalent for an efficient psychiatry room? Have tried other TPH videos but none of them match yours. :)

TokuSaito1 It seems to vary by hospital. Hogsport is gd and pharmacy, bullocks is psychiatry, tumble is wards, etc...If you follow the same pattern in each hospital you spend all your money on rooms not used frequently. Following the prompts for each will usually be the best bet!

Hmm with machine rooms it's kinda difficult coffee/sweets and a chair is the bare minimum but in the later hospitals where you are just trying to get your cure rate up I have like one nurse for 3 rooms because the traffic is just so little. also those frames where they walk up to the machine also becomes more difficult with the bigger machines.

You can fit a 7th medicine cabinet if you face it towards the one above the pharmacy machine
If you're talking about the cabinet sitting in the "front-left" corner, then I don't think you can. You can't because it would block the walking path to the first medicine cabinet.

I wish the extinguisher was more of an item that had to be recharged after use instead of being bought manually each time it was used.
Wait, what? I’m not there in the video yet (if he says it). You’re telling me I need to go through every room I put extinguishers in originally to make sure they’re still there? They’re not even automatically replaced with a new one? :-o Then I agree. Rechargeable ones would at least show up during my maintenance patrols as something to be fixed. :-/
What about fire extinguishers? I always place them next to the door just in case, though I never had a fire so no idea if that placement is suitable.

After watching your videos I’m hoping the devs look at making the gold star a 1 per room item because at this point it’s not strategy it’s just cheese
If I had a suggestion to the devs, it would be to make gold star awards purchased with a new "Award points' currency which is only awarded at the end of the year based on how many of the 8 awards you qualify for. So you could get them in a slow trickle, but not enough to spam out 10 in every room.

I know this is three years late, but the idea makes sense. It fits with the theme (haha gt it? Shut up) of the game. The idea of gold star rewards being meaningless decorations that seem important and prestigious is exactly what fits in the game. Perhaps diplomas would make more sense for this, giving higher prestige and all. It's a tricky balance with a game like this. I don't want a super serious hospital game but you really do need to learn the ins and outs of the game. I wish there was a bit more room for error on things and knowing in depth strategy wasn't so important. Fortunately sandbox mode was added, but later in the campaign you really have to stick to what works instead of having a hospital pleasing to you. Still no where near as bad as Theme Hospital got (and being pre wide spread internet, written guides just weren't as helpful).
Are you sure chairs are worth it? Looked to me like they increase the time the staff needs to get to the machine and with that decrease efficiency, did you test that?
If they aren't in a chair they are likely wandering around the room. Where they are standing becomes a variable when a patient walks in. You could get away without them in 3x3 rooms but they grow more important in the larger rooms.
What about when there's multiple machines like with the De-Luxe required machines? Does the same principles apply?
Only the large machine of the De-Luxe set has upgrades. The controller just… sits there… to mark the spot for doctors.
Can you do tips on the class room and how to stagger people getting trained and is it better to have one doctor do let's say only GP or only Psychology... Vs people having a verity of skills.

That is also a valid tip, and a good one for clinics with machines that are used, but not constantly used. For constant use machine rooms (diagnostic rooms, the pharmacy and later the injection room) I like to use the 2nd temp room gamit while keeping the main room closed until it is upgraded fully.

Sorry for my mental tangents :P You can close the room to prevent a queue while you're busy upgrading it. Very useful when upgrading from level 2 to 3 as that upgrade takes a LONG time and a very big queue can form if the room is left open.

I'm a bit of a cheeser, i start a new level and get a research room then do like 99% of the research on a successful hospital then swap back to the new one for an instant free 20k

I liked all your other videos because where really helpful. But this video... not complaining. but you use the worst example for machine room because almost all of the machine rooms cannot have the medic cabinet, so the video is not applicable to most of the rooms
The medicine cabinet wasn't even the point of this video; it's mainly about positioning of the device relative to the door, the accoutrements relative to the doctor's station and closing rooms whilst you upgrade machines. This video is therefore applicable to every room with a machine.
