Back when Red & Blue came out, most of what is considered common knowledge now, we didn't know at all. I didn't know you got to pick from the same 3 starters in both games - I just knew I wanted to use Charizard, so I picked Red version, because I assumed that was the one with Charizard.
Pokemon Blue was my first game and I’m not sure if I chose that for the same reason you chose Pokemon Red. All I remember is getting the game from Argos and choosing Squirtle as soon as I got home.
I remember choosing blue because I knew my classmates had almost exclusively red. Not that I ever got to play with them
Blue gives Meowth though and in the original red and blue Persian was one of the most OP and broken Pokémon

Ho-oh holds a very useful item, if all your Pokemon faint, it revives all team members and restores there stats. Basically a mobile Pokemon center.

@@aardappelgang6335 it’s an item that heals a Pokémon on your team that have fainted in your party.
Late, but it's not just a fancy Revive: it's an item only usable out of battle that revives *every* fainted Pokémon you have on the team. In gen 2 it was even better, as it also fully restored the revived pokémon's PP.

Shiftry vs Ludicolo: "Ludicolo is easily superior here" *Happy Ludicolo dancing on the background music with Miror B.*
No with Mr. Time
I rather shiftry tho
You have to nickel and dime with Lotad and Lombre before getting a Water Stone, which takes you a while because it isn't available until after the 7th gym. And while you have Lombre, you don't have any strong moves until you get Surf after the 5th gym. Seedot and Nuzleaf aren't much better, but at least Nuzleaf gets Faint Attack. Nuzleaf also has more attack than Lombre, which mean Fake Out does more. You also get to evolve Nuzleaf earlier, since you get the Leaf Stone in route 119 before the 6th gym. However, I will say that in the long run, Ludicolo is better than Shiftry thanks to being a little bit bulkier and having access to Ice Beam and Surf.
If you're going for the Grass/Fire/Water trio, Sapphire and Emerald have you covered early with Torchic and Lotad
Breloom is better than both of them
Mawile is useless. Mega Evolution: I'm gonna build this man's whole career.

When you were comparing Vileplume to Victribell with petal dance and Razor leaf for Red and Blue, its also worth noting that what you were saying later about speed and high crit moves in gen one also applies to razor leaf. Even not that fast pokemon would get insanely high crit rate with razorleaf.
According to this, I literally played the "worse" version EVERY TIME. lol

And I’m the complete opposite. Lol picked the winner every time. Hopefully can keep the streak going with part 2
I got all the bad 1s except diamond and pearl
Same
Something else about that Gen 1 Vileplume x Victreebel thing: Razor Leaf is almost 100% certain to critical hit, so it’s actually a 110 base power move. Also, Victreebel learns Wrap and Stun Spore and you know how OP Wrap is in Gen 1.
Yeah, the exact percentage is 99.6%. With Victreebel being faster as well, it's much easier for it to sweep any water or ground types in Gen 1 making it extremely useful against the first two Elite Four members. That said, though, Venusaur is a much better grass type in Gen 1 due to its bulk, higher speed than Victreebel, and the fact that it absolutely destroys the first two gyms early game.
Your a smart boi
No I don’t know how OP wrap is
*Sad oddish noises
@@wargodyuki7254 in Gen 1, Wrap, Bind, Fire Spin, and Clamp prevent the enemy from attacking during the turns the move is active. So, if you're faster than the opponent and use Wrap, unless you miss, it's game over for them, since they won't be able to attack you at all.
Kyogre also gets to combine its weather boost with STAB, making its waterspouts truly devastating.
Meanwhile it’s weather is worse for it than the sun is for groundon, simply because no one was planning to use a fire type move on a water type, but getting rid of groundons water weakness is massive and the sun allows nonsense such as 1 turn solar beams
Good call choosing Bastiodan over Rampardos. Something to keep in mind is that having a Pokemon with great defenses can buy you time to heal your team back up if you have sustained heavy loses.
Plus Rampardos isn’t fast enough or bulky enough to back up its massive attack, so if it’s lucky it gets off like one attack
But it has two four times weaknesses… against the two best offensive types….???
Small note: Razor leaf in gen 1 had a guaranteed critical hit rate, meaning that it was effectively base 110 or more. This means that it far outclasses petal dance, giving victreebell the upper hand.
Here’s the thing, he wasn’t talking about stadium
@@salamibandit3070 Both games have very broken (although different) mechanics for calculating critical hit probability. Sricharan is however right, so you should keep your snarky ignorant comments to yourself. The critical hit chance always depended on the base Speed of the Pokemon using it, so it would change depening on the Pokemon. And it is never always 100% for every Pokemon, in any of the games. For the high critical hit moves, probability of getting a critical hit in Red/Blue/Yellow is BaseSpeed/64. So any Pokemon with a Base Speed of 64 or higher will always get a critical hit using Razor Leaf. So Venusaur and Victreebel will always get a critical hit, but Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Bellsprout and Weepinbel won't The lowest rate is for Bellsprout, which still gets a 62.5% chance of scoring a critical hit with Razor Leaf.
but crits couldn't be changed by moves such as growth or the badge boosts
SHOW THIS TO MICHAEL DEAR GOD

True, I picked (Alpha) Sapphire because of Lotad and Sun because of Midday Lycanroc and Alolan Ninetales.
For the Ho-Oh and Lugia situation, I would say that their signature moves are "version exclusive." When accessing to catch these legendary Pokémon early (Level 40), they have their signature move, Sacred Fire for Ho-Oh and Aeroblast for Lugia. When getting them after defeating Pokémon League and access to the Kanto region, they will be Level 70 without their signature move. Since Gen 2 doesn't have any move relearner (only move deleter). That just means that obtaining their signature move would be available by trading or cheat code. The enhanced version (Pokémon Crystal) isn’t better either as both legendary Pokémon are post-Pokémon League so they are higher levels but not as high as its sister versions (Level 60) and they don't have their signature moves. Of course, the remakes (HGSS) improved this by having access both signature moves for each legendary Pokémon.

Not exclusives, but I think in Gen 1 it's still worth mentioning Caterpie/Weedle. In Red, Viridian forest will be swarming with Weedle making that early game stretch harder if your Pokemon get poisoned. By contrast, not only is Viridian forest easier in Blue, but Caterpie evolves into the much more useful Butterfree, so not having to put as much effort into finding one is a double plus.

i play on something that has gba games, and gbc ( etc) so i chose gba games and between pokemon fire red or leaf green i chose fire red just because of charizard xd ( i was a newb back then)
smudge Lmao Gbc and gba Retro Games center?
Gen 1: Red (because I like the colour) Gen 2: Silver (because Lugia is my 4th favourite Pokémon) Gen 3: Emerald (because of it being a cooler and more enhanced version.) Fire Red (same as Red) Gen 4: Pearl (Palkia is my second favourite Pokémon) SoulSilver (Same reasons as Silver) Gen 5 Black (Reshiram is my 5th favourite Pokémon) White 2 (White Kyurem is my Third Favourite Pokémon) Gen 6: Y (I like Yveltal a bit more then Xerneas, and I prefer Mega Mewtwo Y over Mega Mewtwo X) Omega Ruby (because you get Latios, my favourite Pokémon, completely free. Also, post game allows you to get Palkia and Reshiram) Gen 7: Sun (I prefer Solgaleo over Lunala) Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon (I prefer Dusk Mane Necrozma over Dawn Wings Necrozma) Let’s Go Eevee (I like Eevee more than Pikachu) Gen 8: Shield (I prefer Zamazenta over Zacian, also I like the ghost type gym leader) Shining Pearl (same reason as Pearl) Gen 9: Violet (I prefer Miriadon over Koriadon)
Him naming all of the version exclusives of fire red and leaf green sounds like the Pokémon rap at the end of each indigo league anime
I don't really pick a specific one. Sometimes I'll go for a specific one, like with Sun and Moon where I preferred Moon since I like Lunala a lot more than Solgaleo. I do regret picking Sword over Shield because Shield definitely has the better version exclusives in my opinion, but I got Shield at a later date, so it was all fine Edit: Fixed some typos.
Which do you recommend between omega ruby and alpha sapphire?
@@simplebidnessman Personally, I pick Alpha Sapphire. For ORAS, I'd say choose whichever Primal form you prefer.
@@kira_the_sniper6376 I prefer primal Groudon, I like the version exclusives of Alpha Sapphire though. But I saw Ultra Moon has the same version exclusives of AS, so maybe I’ll either make some trades(idk how to do that maybe ask Reddit?), or I’ll pick up ultra moon as wel
Michael: *does a complex analysis to determine what games to get* me: haha shield wolf go brrrrr
Team Zamazenta all the way
Bruh Zamazentas so dumb and Zacians wayyyy more better, almost as good as mega rayquaza
Hey respect their opinions
Honestly, In my opinion I like zacian. But maybe that’s just because of my OP one in my copy of sword who I named “good doggo”. Perhaps Zamezenta is better, but people who play sword wouldn’t know.
At this point I couldn’t care less.
here I go again! I do agree with your individual matchups in FR and LG, but I will always use either Raichu or Jolteon over Electabuzz. And when it comes to Magmar... I don't normally use a fire type unless I start with Charmander, or if I want to use legendaries. For me, it really comes down to Sandslash or Skarmory. I know you can't catch Skarmory until later, but this is what I consider when I try to think of which game is better. I'd probably go with LG and Sandslash (might not be the best ground type, but it's my favorite) just because of Skarmory being so late in the game.
I love how during the Sinnoh part you did the rap in the beginning
“It doesn’t have Ampharos and that upsets me” Me: Finally another who cares for Ampharos!
literally the only reason i'm playing gold over crystal, lol
HEY I LIkE AMPHAROS >:(
It swept in battle tree
stop acting like you are the only one who likes ampharos. lmfao what a geek ass kid
At least Crystal has the adorable Kris.
6:53 blue 12:13 gold 17:50 sapphire 23:16 fire red 27:59 diamond 31:40 heart gold
speedrunned my 30mins of the day thanks
Based
The only one I chose that's the same is blue💀
NO JOKE THIS IS MY EXACT LIST OF MY FAVORITE VERSIONS LETS GO
I started pearl for 1 hr or somethin and find out I had platinum so Im restarting
I choose based on whatever legendary I like better or which one has the better version exclusives to use in the main play through Or I just choose both or my family got me both as a kid
As someone who played sapphire, Lombre was very useful but by the time I got dive so I had the water stone to evolve it I already had a Tropius because a middle evo Lombre is worse than a Tropius and it was under leveled when I got the water stone
Turtwig looks good in all evolutions Change my mind
i won’t its a great opinion.
I think the midle one is too simetric
You have a good Eye
Sir. Jay piplup is cute empolion looks cool
"Its clear that the ground type is more usefull then the poison type in gen 1." Nidoking and nidoqueen:👁💧👄💧👁
Nidoking isn't just a poison type though. Nidoking is really helpful in gen 1 games
Mitsakos TV thats the point of the joke, that Nidoking and Nidoqueen are poison and ground types, otherwise i woulded added instead of Nidoking and nidoqueen all gen 1 poison types lol 😂
69 nice
@@juicyjuzi1571 If the joke isn't understood, then it's not a good joke. I didn't get it either.
@@rinus915 Don't be dumb
My brother and i have a pretty simple solution. Het gets the red versions and I get the blue. (Black version is the blue version) The exceptions to this is Gold and Silver (Remakes i got soul silver) Black and White 2, and he really wanted Xerneus. Luckily it works out in my favor as I prefer most of teh blue legends. Lugia, Kyogre, Dialga, Reshiram, (I Wanted Xerneus too but i was fine with teh wyvern) Lunala and I really do not care about Zacien but he wanted the shield one. (tyrn out that all the exclusives i wanted were in Shield though. Like galar ponyta)
12:14 GEN 2 , I picked Silver (well crystal) but I got silver .. for Lugia 😅 I chose totadile” houndour ,skarmory steelix maril & tyrantair
youtubers: 60% of people aren't subscribed everyone: that is not a statistic, that is an excuse to not subscribe
An excuse to subscribe they probably want people to subscribe
@@chendror872 it's an excuse to not subscribe because nobody wants to hear them say that every single video.
@@Madcat56 you can skip 10-20 secs forward and not hear the subscribed or not thing
@@Madcat56 That is a statistic.
Its not
I love how this vid came out right when I’m trying to decide which games to get since I wanna play through all of them
Well that's some good luck there buddyro
Omg
I think you should just choose the version based on which legendary you prefer
In the case of Red vs. Blue, it's also worth mentioning Blue gives you a nice discount on Porygon you can't get in Red (or Yellow), in case you need another reason why Blue is the better choice.
With the whole “Ho-oh being better than Lugia” thing, Lugia is FAR better. Ho-oh is probably the worst Uber in Gen 2, and because lugia is super defensive, it doesn’t really matter what types it’s weak against. Also with Ho-oh having a “better typing” that also means Ho-oh has a weakness to 2 of the most common attacking types in the game, water and electric. Meanwhile Lugia isn’t weak to water.
My thing was that Ho-oh has this amazing attack stat but doesnt learn any decent flying moves for STAB. Its signature move runs off its mediocre special stat. Meanwhile Lugia has above average attack and special and gets a 120 power STAB flying move and can learn psychic through a TM for good STAB damage on its above average special stat all while being an absolute tank. Lugia far outclasses Ho-Oh in gold and silver, as much as I love the 50% burn rate on sacred fire.
me who can’t get any pokemon games watching this anyway: hmm, interesting
Same! I'm interested in pokemon but i don't play it
@@farzad6294 just play it on yout pc using an emulator (btw, are you indonesian)
Bruh your profile picture is littraly Snom
@@syaddad5605 oh ok..... also no I'm not Indonesian But thx for the tip!
Just get an emulator, older pokemon games are super light so basicaly any smartphone can run them
Michael: If you choose to teach Ho-Oh or Lugia Fly. Me: Uh... they already know Fly, Michael.
the best thing i play is the soul silver one, i love the pacing and story and the animation
I always choose based on version exclusives and sometimes the "third" version because it usually has changes to the originals that make it better (Emerald, for example) So my choices are (this include remakes): Fire Red. Emerald. Soul Silver. Platinum. White & White 2. X. Alpha Sapphire. Sun & Ultra Moon. I don't really like the generatios that came after that so i'm not including them
Another point for gold versions: You don't need whilrpool in the story. That's wrong sry "Everything is garbage" blah blah blah. Once Whirlpool is necessary.
Yes you do, in the Dragon’s Den, which, btw, you need to go into to get the Dragon Fang, and thus, the Rising Badge
.
Brussel Gaming Truer words have yet to be spoken.
I prefer silver
ShardTheDDon your correct
I don’t care what y’all say, I’m picking silver solely for skarmory and Donphan
Donphan vs Ursaring should have been a clear win for Donpahn, and Skarmory was/is so incredibly crucial in competitive gen 2 that by himself he should make pokemon silver win. Competitively speaking all the rest is trash (except for the legendaries).
Skarmory's my favorite pokemon and i love how it was the only one who won the silver comparisons.
Me too
Plus it has Vulpix and Vulpix is always a win for me.
I like mntine more cant handle cuteness. I just wanna use it but i never got a chance.
