the original hobo doesn't give extra weeks either. Only the months are extra time. This was a good option for someone that wanted to try the hobonichi but it was too much money. I got a 2023 Hobonichi for 30 bucks and I'm redating it for 2024
I think instead of Dupe we should just call it what it is- Counterfeit 😢. It’s a total rip-off. I have had friends who worked really hard to create things, original things, just to have other people online copy them and sell and make a profit off of their work. It’s probably copyright infringement or worse, and I am uncomfortable supporting it! I’ll be sticking to Hobonichi.

I'd definitely buy it with no guilt and shame whatsoever 💯💸💅 An Amazon reviewer had said the company was not going to make one for '24-'25, but is it actually true or not who knows. I'm still going to refresh their store/name on Amazon hoping they release one for next year.

I bought a Hobonichi Cousin 2023 for $30 from Amazon and will redate it for 2024.
It looks like someone got hold of the 2023 English Cousin digital files and reprinted them on much cheaper paper (hence the lower price and duller print colours). They probably haven't managed to get hold of the 2024 files yet, hence the misleading cover - or maybe Hobonichi has taken legal action?
I agree…95% of the pages look copied, word by word.
Possibly the 2024 months are for forward planning for Q1 of 2024 which people are already thinking about at the end of the year. Thanks for reviewing. Great video

Thanks for this video. Interesting. I'm very uncomfortable with such an obvious plagerism of the hobonichi cousin. Fair enough to make something similar, but its such an exact copy. Even the first quote, I think was taken from the hobonichi. It disappoints me that people are stealing another company's designs, just to make money.
I agree. It’s clear rip-off, even down to the quote, and I don’t like supporting people profiting off of other people’s hard work.
I agree, if you’re wanting similar there’s things like the common planner that are very similar but very much it’s own things too.

@@PlanYourOneLife Economies of scale. I think if Sterling Ink continues to do well, they will be able to bring the price down. I worry that Sterling Ink is going to run themselves into the ground trying to do so many different sizes and options though. A lot of companies fail trying to be all things for all people too early on.
Love Planner videos! I've got the 2024 cousin, and the biggest challenge for me is the use of daily pages. I use the Yearly section to plan creative writing, monthly for academic writing, Weekly for my work week of meetings, appointments and work tasks, and for the daily... I decided that I'd use that for notes and random things that pop up during the day... that way, those thoughts and tasks are not sitting on some other planner or notebook. However, I thought the daily could also serve as project pages...a two page spread would make for a good description of a short term project. The paper feels of such good quality though, I feel like I should be using it for something important. Very addictive.
That's a good way to use the daily pages! A lot of people struggle with what they should do with those pages.

That’s so sad, they literally just stole from Hobonichi. I hope they get sued and stop One thing to keep in mind is that if you order right from Hobonichi, the cousin is only $33. Shipping to the US is a lot but if you order with a few people it’s still worth it. I also see a lot of people successfully selling them on Mercari so if I wanted to order I might order enough right from Hobonichi to get free shipping and sell the ones I wasn’t keeping and spare others from the shipping too

The ones on Mercari are going for $75-80 right now because of the fees on there! It's even more expensive.. and that's not including shipping

I bought the Dupe and I hate it. It's exactly the Hobonichi, but I hate the paper and the grid lines are too dark
I noticed that the lines were slightly darker, too. The paper isn’t the same, but some people don’t like TRP…I love it, but some people don’t.

I agree this is a complete knock-off, not a dupe, right down to the dumb quotes and added pages in the back. The difference is that the paper looks to be poor quality, and they didn't bother to color match the tabs. Counterfeit! It's not a bad option for someone who wants to try the cousin or isn't picky about the paper.
I can tell by the sound of the pages flipping that they’re absolutely not tomoe river paper. Plus a total theft of hobonichi design - can’t even say ‘inspired’ it’s so exact. “It’s a no for me dawg.”

I would never buy that. its plagiarized and on cheaper paper. The real cousin is so worth it in my opinion, but I do understand that not everybody can afford it. I couldn't stomach it, but that's not to judge anybody who would want this alternative.
Ummm… I bought my planners directly from the Hobonichi store and it was definitely not $60+. I just checked the website and the cousin is listed at $18. If you order a single item with international air mail, it’s usually still cheaper than a reseller. If you plan well and order several items, you can get free shipping, which I got when I ordered my planner and covers.
On Amazon it’s $63 from Hobonichi, that’s what I was stating in my video. On the official Hobonichi website, it’s a lot cheaper, but shipping is at least $30 unless you spend $250 or more. Not everyone wants to order several items, just to make the shipping free…which essentially will cause them to spend more money. You can try to purchase them from a reseller, that will be probably be cheaper, but I doubt that it will be $18. Unless, you can share a website that does. That would help my viewers save money. I would appreciate it if you could.
It’s “cheaper” on the Hobonichi website vs resellers/stockists because the shipping/sourcing costs are included in the resellers price. In the Uk, on Amazon the cousin is 50 odd and on the Hobonichi website it’s 37 with shipping being 18 so it works out similar unless you want to fork over £200 for free shipping- I paid £80 over all this year because I wanted the 2024 pen (and a few other bits) but next year I’ll definitely be buying from a reseller because there’s not really any difference except shipping times. I think it all comes down to which country you’re in.

I do not think that the Hobonichi weekly pages go to the end of March- only the months to plan ahead
Yes, that’s what I said in the video. I don’t think that they should have stated that it’s a 2023-2024 planner because of that. The weeks and daily pages should have gone into 2024, too.

No, unfortunately it isn’t TRP. The manufacturer doesn’t say what it is on the website, but it appears to be similar to normal printer paper.

I buy my notebooks at kmart. They have stonepaper pages and cost me 7. 5 new zealand dollars. I looked at this brand notebooks prices and is a nope for me.
Definitely misleading with 2024 on the cheaper one.
It is currently unavailable on Amazon and I am not sure that they will be restocking this product. It would have been a great alternative.

I actually love this with the thick paper Especially for stamping I wanted to get one for 2024 but it looks like they won't be making them for 2024, bummer.
