My 2024 HOBONICHI Haul!

G'day Friends!
Hope you enjoy this video!
BTW, the total for shipping from Japan to US was 5496 yen, about USD$50 (which I think is astronomical), and the reason I think Hobonichi is not a very affordable product to recommend. I am happy to pay for it, but it is a big factor when pricing out purchases from Hobonichi.
:)

  • Thank you for pointing out that it doesn’t make sense to make purchases you won’t really use just to get the buy-high. I love watching people enjoy their new acquisitions. It’s not fun if it makes me covetous, or if the creator of the content is ruining themself to buy stuff so I can watch them open it. Inflation is deadly right now, and anyone who wants to have a future has to navigate with caution and cutbacks to keep life fun and low-stress. Never be ashamed to be smart about your spending. ❤

  • I LOVE that you actually use up these empty journals! So many planer channels change their planers like every other month and never fill up these half empty books. If you buy a journal either commit, sell it before you use it or find an other purpose.

  • I love hearing the prices. It helps me realize that I don't actually need a Hobonichi on top of the planners I already have 😅 Maybe I'll get one some day but it would have to be on sale

  • I am obsessed with the way the 5 years look side by side. ❤❤ I start mine this year and I can't wait to fill it full. My favorite journal ever.

  • I think you may have been my inspiration for getting my own 5 year to start in 2024. I hadn't realized how long I've been watching your channel. I wanted to get it last year but I have a weird OCD thing about 3s and I didn't want it to start on 2023. lol I'm excited to see how it looks in a few years. Thanks for the haul vid. Loved it.

    • He was my inspiration to get mine this year, 2023. I continually try to make mine look as interesting as his, but my art and decoration sucks. Can’t wait to be on the second year though and look back a year earlier.

  • Congratulations on finishing your 5 Year Techo!!! You're the reason I got mine in 2021. It's definitely a huge commitment -- I have so many blank pages 🤣 but i still treasure it and will likely fill up the blanks with doodles or something. I still have two years left before I get another 5 year techo... I'm savoring this one cus it's very likely that by 2026, I'll be using the Tomoe River S paper instead of the OG. Oh well! Here's to new stationery! Happy hobonichi haul 💖

  • I'm finishing year 3 of my 5-year journal. It's not a Hobonichi but when I have this one full, definitely going with the Hobonichi A5 size. Always enjoy your 5-year journal videos!

A great commitment 😊 inspiring, next year autumn I plan to go Tokyo , hope to get 1 or 2 hobonichi planner there depending on budget 😂 now I mainly use for sketching as the paper is great with Fountain pens. Thanks for sharing.

  • Good Day, James. (Speaking of five years of ones' life...) While I'm not new to your channel, I still enjoy popping in-and-out. Since it is the Halloween season, I thought I'd tell you about a journal that you recommended we make back in 2017. Being a 'new-be' journal maker at the time, I accidentally made it too large, as in number of pages. I did all the prompts you recommended back then, and was left with PAGES to fill. So, I put it in a safe spot, and retrieved it the next October, and the October after that and the next one after that and so on, and have been enjoying and loving adding to it ever since , (5+ years). However I've sadly started to run out of pages, so I think I'll add "flip" pages to keep it going forever. Happy Halloween. 😺🎃😻🧡

  • The TRP-S seems quite good. It is a tad thicker but not by much. There seems to be less drying time with pens. Therefore, less chances to smear the ink.

  • Love your 5 Year! ❤ Don‘t think it‘s possible to break the binding of a Hobonichi (it‘s just so good - I always flip my A6 in on itself after mid-year to get a flat writing surface and it works just fine), but I‘ve seen 5 Year journals with the vinyl cover fallen off. I use my little gift bag to store chargers, by the way.

  • I'm new to Hobonichi, discovered it all through my KZhead feed and took a deep-dive down the unboxing rabbithole. Have ordered my first - expensive for me but it will encourage me to get back into journalling. Thank you for your very real approach - awesome to hear a fellow Aussie accent 😊

  • Love all the things you got! Will you use a cover on your new 5-year? I have just received mine for 2024-2028 and thought I didn't want a cover on it. But now I'm not so sure. The book just feels so bare and unprotected. 😅 Do you feel like using a cover on your current one was a must?

  • Did you purchase from California? because. I was in florida purchasing and they did not let me purchase in yen this year. The website was already “converted” to dollars and all the prices were inflated. When i went on the website the website automatically asked me if i wanted to ship to the US and in selecting that it changed the prices to USD. I compared the true conversion rate from the prices in yen and the prices in USD and everything was more expensive! Do you know how to buy it in yen? It’s definitely a better deal if i can buy it in yen and convert it. 😢

    @sherig1376@sherig13768 ай бұрын
    • I was thinking exactly the same thing!! In quoting the dollars, they actually take the conversion benefit away. I hope he gets back to you on this bc I preferred the yen also. Everything is cheaper for us. However, I don’t think I’ll be charged a fee either from the bank for converting…I haven’t received statement yet, so it may be six of one, half a dozen of another, as they say.
