I wish they would just stop making tedious, vapid, and thoroughly unoriginal superhero films, and direct those resources instead toward cultivating some novel and compelling actual sci-fi
They don’t have any resources. Not unless you count millennial Marxist female writers.
If you haven't seen everything everywhere all at once you should. By far my favorite movie of the year and I thought it was novel and original
@@kleitmanj I will definitely be checking that out.
I absolutely hear you. I’ve been hoping someone would make Friday into a movie. Friday is a book by Heinlein. Great stuff, and oh so timely.
There is a large community of comic book lovers, around the world that Hollywood is catering to. I have been collecting comic books for 35 years and love the hobby. Some that I have sold appreciated more than 15% a year over 30 years.
This is unbelievable, guys! THE THUMBNAIL ACTUALLY SHOWS SOMETHING THAT'S IN THE VIDEO! WOW!
I think I missed it what movie was it in cause I couldn’t find jt
@@Catherine.Dorian. Vesper
Stop visiting dubious channels.
Thank you for a genuine much needed belly laugh.
I'm going to watch " Indiana Jones and the batcave of spiderman," when it comes out.
Someone once said that Hollywood was stuck on sequels. This proves it.

You don't know the difference between Sci fi and fantasy
The only one that legitimately peaked my interest was that Vesper one.
LOL ... I made note to watch one of the ads that came on during it ... Delia's gone I do want to see Nope though ...
When are we going to get epic Sci-Fi movies again like "Interstellar" --- "Ex Machina" ---- "The Martian" ----- "Jurassic Park original trilogy" ---- "Contact" etc etc... ... Instead of all these stupid full-on action sci-fi with semi super humans fighting stuff and joking at the same time... AND they always have a 3/10 story.. never anything good. This doesn't just go out to all new Sci-Fi movies out there, but also all other movies that they show at the Cinema...
Reflects the audience - people are getting "simpler" and shorter attention spans.
Everything Everywhere All At Once - is quite meaningful. Compromise of action, humor and philosophy
@@2000index I actually got it downloaded.. I've read good things about it. But are there any Sci-Fi in it? I keep seeing scenes with just a asian woman being kinda weird tbh.
You know that the first three you mentioned are really recent right? Maybe if you're 10 years old 2014 is a long time ago. Not that I disagree that most movies are uninspired cash-grabs. Personally, I expect to get at most one really interesting movie a year. It's too much to expect it to always be scifi.
Alita: Battle Angel deserves to be on that list.
Yeah, it’s really helpful to get an advance notice that there’s nothing good to look forward to in sci-fi this year.
Gemini project might be ok. Prob not. Crimes of future looks interesting but is it scifi?
TV and movies are in a dismal state... the top rated shows right now are so beyond garbage it hurts my head
@@rannnoch I love the boys tv series
Because most of it is woke garbage, just like most of TV shows and movies from the last several years. Unwatchable.
@@tama.mascarenhas3775 The Boys is decent yeah, in big part thanks to how woke and dumb all the other shows are that it's competing against. "Barry" is another recent one that avoids the political cringe but they're still no match for the massive slew of spinoffs, sequels, and general dogshit woke fanservice they're pumping out
I'm going to buy a lot of books...
The MESSAGE is strong with these movies this year!!
I loved the first avatar movie, thought it was amazing, couldn't wait for the next movie. Then 13 years went by. It's like your dad finally came back after he went to go get milk that one day when you were a kid and now you're an adult and he asks if you want to play catch in the yard. Confused, surprised and filled with a decade and a half of resentment, you're like "yeah sure, I just gotta go get some milk first"
And the milk turned to cheese.
That is a great analogy. I do want to see it.
@Neko to Bisuketto I am pinching my nose.
@RealityCheck It's an metaphor
And it's usually right about then that you remember that you never really got around to watching the first movie a second time and will probably skip this one as a result.
WOW! I could really miss every single one of these and not feel I'd missed a single thing! 🤣
I feel the same way.
Most of 'em are definitely lame...

Vesper gives me chills!
Have you seen the illustrations from the book Electric State?
Most of that isn’t sci-fi at all. The Martian, Contact, Arrival, Bladerunner, THAT’S sci-fi
Agreed.
Agreed! When we have movies like Close Encounters, the original Blade Runner, Aliens, and the original Terminator? They are relics of an age where sci-fi really meant something.
@@pheisenberg5198 Alien by Ridley Scott is nice Aliens by Titanes Avatron is garbage
Agreed. This is all Science Fantasy. It sure is perty though.
Wow Natalie Portman as Thor - - I want to see that almost as much as I want to see a little Indian Girl with a tomahawk fight the Predator. Next year it will be Helen Keller vs. Galactus.
Helen Killer
I'd watch that. It'd be a perfect sequel to "Godzilla vs Bambi."
Right

Vesper looks like Miyazaki's Nausicaa appeared in a film of David Cronenberg (e.g., eXistenZ or mentioned in the list Crimes of the Future) or, more probably, in Garland's Annihilation. Also, I must noted a strong Stalenhag world's vibe.
I was about to make the very same comment. I am certainly interested.
IKR?? My thoughts exactly, I was like 'wow what a creative take on Nausicaa's story, I'm intrigued'
Nide catch bro. I can defs see that. My take was its about a kind of slime mold, a very mysterious organism that has propertys that baffle scientists everywhere.
I had no idea who Stalenhag was. His work is amazing! Thanks.
A strange resemblance to No Man's Sky

I've always been a big fan of David Cronenberg's movies. That french touch is fab.
There dumb only babies like him
The guy is crazy. Nothing better than a touch of a disturbed mind to make something unique.
22:55 I've loved Michelle Yeoh since "Police Story". Nor can I forget about "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "Tai Chi Master" and many other wonderful works. Curtis, needless to say: a legend!
It was a great movie. Arguable one of the most inventive this year.
Thanks for sharing👍
I counted a whole 3 maybe 4 sci-fi movies with the rest beeing fantasy. Just because something has alliens or takes place in outerspace, doesnt make it sci-fi.
You need more than 1 working braincell to realize this: sadly, not the case for the uploader here.
Yep, need a little hard scifi.
If it has trees, elves, or vampires, it's not sci-fi
I'm sorry but it does make it sci fi
@@davidpapps2071 - you lost the "sci" from SCIENCE, lol. Most of this crap is just delirium tremendous of illiterate scriptwriters.
Well, The Flash will not be fast enough to escape the police after manipulating and abusing a child.
haha.. Ezra is the biggest asshole in hollywood. That guy makes me pull a face, everytime i see a picture. Literally. They just fired him, for being too difficult to work with... that was their excuse. Not the child grooming apparently.
Yeah
I hear that POS got fired from the role of Flash.
'Pedo Flash', he touches you child and in a flash he's gone to the next one.
Sad and disgusting 😞
All of these look good, but Vesper is VERY interesting.
The Arrival. Complex, very challenging. Halo, Fringe, and The last Ship - outstanding. Colony!
Soon, delightful emotions will be presented to the audience on all cinema screens.
This vid has demonstrated two things: 1) Hollywood is completely out of ideas 2) despite abysmal turnout at the box office, Hollywood continues to hammer “the message” to an audience that is already saturated.
go on, make better movie than any of those 😂😂😂 I dare you
I agree with you about most on that list, except for the ones I think are interesting: Vesper Crimes of the Future Everything Everywhere All At Once Project Gemini Moonshot Strange World
I never said i could. I was merely pointing out what is quite obvious to the rest of America: Hollywood is completely out of ideas and everyone is sick of the messaging. Sorry you got your feathers ruffled.
I honestly just came here to see if Hollywood had changed track from that of the past 5-10 years, and surprise not, not much has changed. But that's all fine by me, because that means more money and time available for other things.
Hollywoke can’t die soon enough
Can’t wait to see Avatar!
Avatar 2 looks more like a video game then cinematic movie.
Tambien pensé que era un videojuego....
To be fair it’s an early trailer
Avatar has always been flash over substance. Try asking people what they liked about Avatar EXCEPT how it looks, and they can't really give an answer. Because there's nothing beneath the surface.
@@DivineFalcon Seems you looked over their incredible soundtrack, that was based on many different cultures. Cameron also designed a fucking language for the film. The visuals are certainly a massive bonus but let’s not forget the incredible work put into the movie.
...and unfortunately many video games are the reverse. All video effects and underneath less game than 20 years ago
The dinosaurs wowed audiences for 150 million years. Jurassic Park went from brilliance to boredom in just 30.
What audience are you talking about, for 150 million yrs? LMAO
@@BFP2021 hahah
@@BFP2021 please tell me you realise it's a figure of speech intended to make the subsequent more literal comment a bit more amusing?
Like humans wouldn't completely fucking own dinosaurs in a war.
Just the concept of a dino walking around on this earth right now, I don't see it scaring any crowd, I see it suffocate, merely due to the fact there isn't enough oxygen to support it being. Their body mass/lung ratio just doesn't suffice to be able to be alive right now. Animals that are still around since the age of the Dino haven't shrunk for no good reason.
Excellent. A new Cronenberg movie.
The ones I am interested in seeing are: Vesper Crimes of the Future Everything Everywhere All At Once Project Gemini Moonshot Strange World Everything else seems a bit 'meh'
Everything Everywhere All At Once is really good. It's got the kid ( now adult ) from Indiana Jones and The Goonies in it.
"Everything Everywhere All At Once" was BONKERS FUN!!!
I'd remove Strange World but add Rubicon. otherwise good list.
I saw "Everything Everywhere All At Once" on a whim and wasn't sure if I liked it. But after watching an interview showing some movie clips I thought, "I liked those scenes - now I want to see it again." So I went again the next day. It made more sense the second time around, and was just as enjoyable.
I'll skip prey, like a Native Indian could kill a predator, give me a break.
I wonder if Hollywood could make a good movie without special effects, just a great script and a good story. I don't think they can do it.
No, they can't. The independent film makers can, which is why they win the awards but don't cost 200 million.
Watch "The Man From Earth". It's EXACTLY what you described.
It's Science Fiction. The use of SFX is inherent. You want a good story with no SFX? Check out the Drama and Thriller sections.

I saw Nope Thursday opening night. I loved it. Original and fun
Vesper looks intriguing. So does Prey . Is the music from Project Gemini from some other source? It seems familiar.
Prey is just another stupid "I am wahman, hear me roar" flick with a scrawny female teenager somehow beating a Predator when she can't even take on a black bear.
Project Gemini is on tubi now
Prey looks lame af. Predator hunted the best and baddest for a challenge, now he chases a girl with a yo-yo hatchet who can't kill a bear. Is this satire or woke garbage?

Moonshot is adorable - I kinda loved it.
I liked how they used some music from the Batman movie (1989) at the beginning of "The Flash" trailer!
Rubikon looks interesting, but the music was too loud and I could hear almost none of the dialogue. Maybe that will be fixed before the movie is released. ❣❣❣Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. ❣❣❣ Easily, one of the best movies I have seen, for a long time. Michelle Yeoh is amazing! In fact, the entire cast play their A game.
I have a feeling Avatar 2 will be a flop. James Cameron put so much money into the next 3 movies.
@@asktoseducemiss434 I tend to agree, and disagree, but for a variety of reasons, too numerous to mention. Basically, I see a flop because he's waited too long and we've all done Avatar to death. This makes it feel a bit dated. Plus, the technology to make photorealistic CGI arrived a few years ago. So, it's not as if the visuals will impress more than their aesthetic appeal. I see a hit because there is a whole new audience to appeal to since the first Avatar. Also, people will watch any crap and think it's good. I can think of dozens of huge box office hits that ultimately have no plot whatsoever, or it's a ridiculous premise. As long as it's all wrapped in a pretty bow, and the CGI-candy is good, they are satisfied, but don't know why. Ignorance is bliss. 😂

Everything Everywhere All At Once looks really interesting but also like a bad form of hell. A while back there was a creepypasta about a very similar thing where these scientists figured out how to put a person in any reality in the multiverse he wanted, problem was that he couldn't stop it and eventually went insane until one universe had something that killed him.

I agree Project Gemini looks promising as well
I was hopeful, but saw it and was so bored I walked out halfway through. Too much whispery dialogue, all of it explaining something. That's all it is, and a few futuristic biomechanical special effects a la Videodrome, total snoozer, hope you get more out of it than I did!

Its just the Music and the Visuals in Avatar that gets me everytime, i will definetly watch it in Theatre just for the goosebumps.
They wont have James Horner for this sequel. In my estimation, he was the greatest movie composer ever because he was able to evoke the maximum amount of emotion and the exact mood for the scene. That's probably why Cameron chose to work with him on a few projects - Aliens, Titanic, and Avatar. Horner elevated every film he's ever done beyond what that film would have accomplished on its own. I question whether Cameron will be able to replicate the magic of the first film based solely on the fact that Horner is no longer alive. However, if anyone can do it, It would be Cameron.
i find it hilarious that the DC Super-Pets trailer is using the Big Energy version of Fantasy where they rap about big dick energy xD

Scifi is watered down to include superheros, warrior women, teenage romcoms and kids films? Only vesper, rubikon and crimes of the future look like actual scifi where you learn something about the human condition.
Was your mention of the human condition a reference to the quote from Asimov about science fiction telling stories about the human condition?
Interestingly enough, all of those "watered down" examples you gave can also make you learn something about the human condition. That bit isn't exclusive to Sci-fi, you know...
If it was it was unintentional. Perhaps I heard it over the years
