    • It's quite obvious what they are trying to do but i dont think its a good idea. Your daughter gets murdered and the lad that did it lives a more peaceful life than you. While you're worrying about funerals and such the murderer is just getting fed good and plays sports every day. And some criminals would commit a crime just to go back in which also isn't good. You have to make prison a misery something dreadful so that someone that has been there would think twice before doing something illegal

      @slendydie1267@slendydie12672 жыл бұрын
    • @@slendydie1267 they base it off of the likelyhood of rehabilitation & repeating the crime. Prisoners in countries with more ethical systems where the prisoners are well fed & have okay living conditions are less likely to repeat the crime. When people first hear about that they often think it’s counterintuitive but it’s very well thought out (prisoners are also usually in contact with psychologists and psychiatrists in those countries which decreases the chances of them repeating the crime as well). Of course when your kid gets killed it’s one of the most unbearable things ever, but you also have to think about the fact that people in those countries often do understand why the prisons are the way they are. If it means another kid won’t get killed, it’s worth it in the end. The only other way out with the logic of decreasing the chances of them repeating the crime is the death sentence. There’s the other ethical dilemma of “does one murder justify another murder?”, and most people in the uk oppose it i’m assuming. We don’t live in the us hahaha

    • "It's quite obvious what they are trying to do but i dont think its a good idea" Math is your strong point i assume? How ignorant are you to say this, seriously! I want the killer of my daughter to have a rough time in jail so that when he comes out as an even tougher criminal with a 70% chance to repeat, he can kill the neighbors daughter. This is basically what you are saying... Read what you type before posting bro. This has to be the most selfish crap i've seen in a long time.

  • I think a prison should aim to deter criminals from crime and reform the prisoners. We can clearly see the reform rates are higher in countries such as Germany who are less strict since they are turning the prisoners into better people and allowing them grow and learn. Whereas in many western countries they use harsher punishments and the reform rates are much lower which speaks volumes. I think the way Germany are going about it is fair and makes sense.
