  • If you want electric vehicles that run from power on the ground use rails. Roadway based power will not work for any length of time because roads get overlaid. When you have a new layer of ashphalt over the conductors it wont' charge anything. The only alternative then is to very carefully grind of the worn surface a very costly way to resurface a road. Beyond that anything that would break the roadway like an earthquake could incapacitate your entire transportation system with no easy fix.

  • would be interesting to see if they could make fresh water a by product of something else, like power plants which already turn water to steam... corrosion probably plays a big factor as to why it isn't done though...

  • those bumps in the second part : our company tried using them all over our factory and it made all the forklifts lose the boxes they were carring and many were destroyed. maybe its better for cars but not for forklift related stuff for sure

  • China dust problem: the mist can only be a temporary solution. The trapped dust/water mix either falls to the ground or settles onto other objects. Then the water quickly evaporates releasing the dust again. Just added water to an endless cycle.

  • Many of these are not new. The main issue with them is cost and and it's a triple hit. First the materials and methods to produce are higher. Second, tech being replaced has been used for decades. Like everything else production costs drop over time. Third, they need support in government and in the public because that extra cost will be made up in higher taxes. As for real world testing, it always finds issues not found in small tests runs.

  • Road induction charging is just a way to gobble up yummy R&D money. Theres no way to actually implement it. Who pays for the power. Are they going to tariff the roads like tolls. And the power infrastructure required is massive. You'll need substations every few kilometers and the load on the grid is horrendous. Massive loads in peek hour traffic and Zero loads at night. Its also dangerous. for metal objects like bicycles or any other metal ring. We don't run power under 200mm of a road surface for a reason. The cables will get damaged. Its a stupid idea that just burns money.

    • Well you could build roads using concrete like we build most of them in the US, which is just sand, water, cement and aggregate, all of which are not hydrocarbons and can theoretically be extracted without using any. But in practice we still use hydrocarbons a lot for those materials (especially cement that needs to be heated) and sand for concrete is also starting to get scarce. This is a little known global crisis that not many people know about. And no, you can't just use sand from the desert, because it is too fine. Another way is to simply not build roads at all and go back to good ol' rail.

  • 1:58 this right here is why China is having a water crisis. I live in Arizona and if I saw this, water enforcement would be notified of this waste of water. They should invest in dust proofing the roads, stroud’s, streets, sidewalks, driveways and patios like how I have it were I’m at. A massive dust storm hits and the next day it’s as if it never happened.

    • What benefit are timestamps unless you know the content and want to watch it more than once? How do you know what to skip and what to watch? I've never watch a clip and thought, hmm lets see what time stamp 3 is all about, Then maybe Timestamp 5 or 2? Timestamps useless on anything you only watch once IMO
