Did is interesting, imagine living with multiple different people in the same body, sometimes it's frustrating, sometimes it's nice. It depends if you know the others well and if you're friends or partners etc. Did can vary itself, from sort of being like in the show with blackouts and appearing somewhere randomly, days having psssed. Or you can have slight amnesia, or just some sort of dissociation when not fronting, it all honesty depends on the system. Moon Knight sort of demonises it, but thats just because its based off of the comics and any hero/villain/protagonist with did demonises it, but in reality most people are just normal human beings. It can be frustrating and at times its an escape from whats happening but its still a mental disorder so its not glamourous or anything like that. Some people learn to function with it others not so much. Took me many years to get to a point where functioning is possible. I think this shows it well compared to a lot of portrails of DID in the media. Of course the whole superhero thing is not real but the way they show the amnesia, the blackout, the voices etc is done well in my opinon. • Heard in another interview Oscar based his accent on a particular region of London, a suburb with a large Jewish population, as Marc/Steven is Jewish. London is such a melting pot, with many regional dialects, and as such I personally found it rather convincing. Having studied dialects in acting school, we learned several regional accents. It’s cool to hear Oscar going for something specific, as opposed to the broad R.P. (Received Pronunciation) portrayed by many American actors attempting a British dialect.

    • The whole of the UK has many regional accents and dialects, that's not unique to London. The thing is, there's still something common to the group (or they wouldn't be a group to begin with right ?). It's like the idea of "a British accent" in itself - to most people from the UK that's so ridiculously broad (encompassing as it does such diverse sounding accents as those from Govan to Liverpool to Newcastle to Essex to Bristol and beyond) as to be basically meaningless BUT we still know when an accent _doesn't_ fall into the group "British accents" (and as I say, you can break it down the same way all over the country - Scotland has many accents, Glasgow has many, the "north west" has many, so does the "north east", the "midlands", Wales etc. etc.). Similarly, despite the diversity of London accents, some of us at least can still recognise when an attempt _doesn't_ fall into that group and that's the case here (does it matter ? Not IMO. Still true though).

But the words themselves and the turn of phrases are handled really really well, and are ridiculously accurate. With things like "you aint right" being said rather than "you're not right". It's just little bits like that, that help sell it. The opposite of this is something like the boys, where Billy says things like "at the bar with your loser friends". Something no londoner would ever say.

I kinda prefer it this way, because the character's real accent is American, and Steven is the split personality of an American who thinks he is English. When you add that layer on it, remembering that it is actually an American with a split personality who thinks he is English and not the other way around, it clicks into place for me. I get why it doesn't for some people though.

    • JESUS KNOCKS ON YOUR HEART AND LONGS FOR YOU TO ANSWER! HE DOESN'T WANT TO SEE ANYONE PERISH INTO HELL. GOD LOVES YOU SO HE GIVES YOU FREE WILL AND A CHOICE TO ACCEPT HIM OR REJECT HIM. TO LOVE HIM OR TO LOVE SIN/THIS WORLD. CALL UPON JESUS & ASK HIM TO FORGIVE YOUR SINS! SURRENDER YOUR WILL & YOUR LIFE TO HIM AND HE WILL GIVE YOU ETERNAL LIFE IN HEAVEN! PICTURE YOUR BEST DAY ON EARTH TIMES A BILLION FOR ETERNITY, THAT'S HEAVEN! NOW PICTURE YOUR WORST DAY ON EARTH TIMES A BILLION FOR ETERNITY, THAT'S HELL! HE WILL GIVE YOU WHAT YOU WANT SO IF YOU REJECT HIM YOU WILL BE SEPARATED FROM HIM & HIS BLESSINGS (LOVE, PEACE, JOY, HOPE, REST, ETC). IN HELL YOU WILL BE ALONE WITHOUT GOD OR PEOPLE, YOU WILL BE HOPELESS, YOU WILL BE IN DESPAIR & AGONY FOREVER! GOD'S STANDARD FOR HEAVEN IS PERFECTION AND ONLY JESUS (THE SON OF GOD/GOD IN THE FLESH) LIVED THAT PERFECT LIFE! HE LAID DOWN HIS LIFE & TOOK THE WRATH OF THE FATHER ON THE CROSS FOR YOUR SINS! GOD IS JUST SO HE MUST PUNISH SIN & HE IS HOLY SO NO SIN CAN ENTER HIS KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. IF YOU ARE IN CHRIST ON JUDGEMENT DAY GOD WILL SEE YOU AS HIS PERFECT SON (SINLESS SINCE YOUR SINS ARE COVERED BY JESUS' OFFERING). YOU CAN ALSO CHOOSE TO REJECT JESUS' GIFT/SACRIFICE & PAY FOR YOUR OWN SIN WITH DEATH (HELL) BUT THAT SEEMS PRETTY FOOLISH! GOD SEES & HEARS EVERYTHING YOU HAVE SAID & DONE. YOU WONT WIN AN ARGUMENT WITH HIM & YOU CANT DEFEND ANY OF YOUR SINS TO HIM. WE'RE ALL GUILTY WITHOUT ACCEPTING JESUS' SACRIFICE FOR OUR SINS! MUHAMMAD DIDN'T DIE FOR YOUR SINS, BUDDHA DIDN'T DIE FOR YOUR SINS, NO PASTOR/PRIEST/MARY OR SAINT DIED FOR YOUR SINS, NO IDOLS OR FALSE GODS DIED FOR YOUR SINS, NO ACTOR OR CELEBRITY DIED FOR YOUR SINS, NO ATHLETE OR POLITICIAN DIED FOR YOUR SINS! JESUS CHRIST ALONE DIED FOR YOUR SINS & WAS RESURRECTED FROM THE GRAVE! HE IS ALIVE & COMING BACK VERY SOON (THESE ARE END TIMES) WITH JUDGEMENT! PREPARE YOURSELVES, TURN FROM SIN & RUN TO JESUS! IT STARTS WITH ASKING HIM TO FORGIVE YOUR SINS & INVITING HIM INTO YOUR HEART/LIFE, SURRENDER ALL TO HIM! IT'S ABOUT A RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR CREATOR. HE KNOWS YOUR PAIN & TROUBLES, TALK TO HIM LIKE A BEST FRIEND! ASK HIM TO REVEAL HIMSELF TO YOU & HELP YOU TO BELIEVE IF YOU DOUBT! DON'T WAIT TO CRY OUT! NO ONE IS PROMISED TOMORROW! HE LONGS FOR YOU TO INVITE HIM IN, HE LOVES YOU MORE THAN ANY PERSON EVER COULD, HE CREATED YOU! Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."-John 14:6 "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven."-Matthew 10:33 “For the wages of sin is death (hell), but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”-Romans 6:23

  • To the accent critics - give it a rest, mate! His accent is excellent and sounds proper London to me [I lived in central London for ten years].

  • I think people forget that the character is actually American, and Marc is actually trained to speak in that accent. So it’s actually okay even if it is a little bit off, but he still did an amazing job, so both good actor and agent

  • His accent isn't bad, i laughed a few times at how close it resembles us in the UK. Funniest scene for me is when he punches the jackal and shouts "Wagwann!" Alot of people say it as slaNg over here hahaha!

    • @@sossaa2962 I took it as Steven is a mild-mannered white Jewish boy, so he would totally say "Wagwann" in a forced and out of context, exceedingly awkward way. Like straight teens using drag queen slang... kinda... maybe worse than that tbf.

  • First thing first he did a great job with the accent I actually thought he was from London, and finally, I love the fact that he admitted that he did not know who the character was, a lot of actors would probably say that they read the character when they were growing up even though they have never heard of him. I had no idea who the character was.

  • I really like Oscar Isaac. Great guy. Even more Brilliant actor portraying the different personalities. Episode 5 really dug deep into the emotional realm and trauma backstory. From all the prior episodes too really shows his range. I think he up there in the Oscar winner territory. He’s got my vote. :)
