Wow the front end on this bus is in a very bad state of repair. He just bought this bus and brought it straight to us. This will be a big project.
These are the BGM episodes I love to watch. Decently nice "looking" bus comes in with tore up running gear. We get to watch the road to redemption. Awesomeness.
The stainless on this MC-7 is flawless! As many have stated, up top she looks great, but it appears maintenance after the conversion work has been lacking to say the least. If this is a five-speed standard transmission, 1970 thru 1972 MC-7's had a clutch slave cylinder that darn near everyone forgets to service. While this bus is in for the "major steering redux", this bus's new owner would be well advised to take a good hard look at the mechanicals of the clutch circuit/system, a quick peek now will save a lot of heartaches further down the road!
When was the last time this bus received maintenance? Lube oil and filter? Good grief.
Good to see all 3 of y’all on the road in last video, y’all work good together, would like to see more of y’all teaming up
Every time i see a bus or coach i want to get, i see videos like this and it makes me step back again.
So glad to see you on the road in the last vid.
"That's what she said" @ 9:01. LOL, ROF!!! Well played, sir! Bravo! 👏
G'day everyone, What an awesome looking bus any chance the owner would do a tour. This bus being so involved should make for an great series. I have to say the homestead is certainly looking good. The scenery is just beautiful. ✌️Peace from Melbourne Australia.
Man alive!!! From the way the parts rusted out and seized one would say that bus spent its life in the rust belt, or as another KZheadr says the DRNY. This one will be fun to watch
I love seeing you guys work.
This beatiful was build when America was GREAT I miss those Golden days of this Nation.
“Deferred Maintenance”….but at least it’s in the right place to have these issues addressed and corrected.
Awesome content watching from Louisville Kentucky
Nice looking bus! I recently found your channel and love to watch you work!
Scott, for "us guys" who want to own a bus someday like this one can you give us all a ball park as far as parts cost? Such as a whole airbag parts order and the front end issues? Thanks
@Geronimo Tudor In a recent Facebook for sale ad in the MCI Bus Conversion group, what appears to be this same bus claims $37k in recent repairs (presumably those done at BGM). Bus is offered for $45k.
Man I love the stainless on that bus. Looks in great condition. The whole bus looks awesome. Also like the 3 cold machines on the roof🥶
Thankyou for this. Am excited for everything, especially befor and after engine work
Love the Detroit sound!!! That sound is American as Apple pie. All the 70s and 80s films bring on the memories. Thanks for the great uploads mate. from New Zealand.
Nice looking bus on the outside! BGM will make the inside just as good!
Thanks for the video.
Bus looks great on the outside, but driving...thank goodness they had the sense to come to you guys! Bus Grease Monkey wins again.
Good video yal did good ! Daniel from central Mississippi
It is a beautiful bus. Once this maintenance has been done… it will be good for years to come. Those parts of a bus. Humungous.
Scott, the bathroom is very nice!
Holy smokes..... Lot of work. Glad the new owner is having this work performed.
Really looking forward to this one!
Wonder who’s been doing the maintenance on this one? Those problems didn’t happen overnight! Gonna be a good bill! But the bus will be mint! 🇦🇺🍺🍺
That is a handsome looking rig for sure
Nice to see Thing getting some love!
That Bus is absolutely beautiful. Definitely one you could live in comfortably while on a tour of America's beautiful landscape. I just wish these videos were much longer with way more work shown. 1 hour wouldn't be a problem keeping my attention on subject.
Unfortunately most people have the attention span of a toddler and KZhead doesn't like long videos.
That bus is absolutely gorgeous
You are the best man and your son
You can keep the beach, I'd love a working holiday on the bus grease mountain!
Yikes, that one has some serious issues for sure. It will be like a new bus when done. That's a really nice looking bus
Can't wait to see all the videos.
You think you have seen it all but this shows how much more there is to these buses. Good to see it reached a shop that can actually repair the problems. With that kind of slacks in the front it would not pass any technical inspection overseas.
Holy cowww,,,,thats a lotttttt of drag and play in that front end,,,MCI ought to ride and drive like a new one when ya'll get done,,,,stay safe,,🇺🇸😍
Good looking MCI.
The thing is when these buses start to age out to the fleet owners thinking of selling them off, they start to defer / forego maintenance in those twilight years of fleet use, so things like this are to be expected. The lovely 'fixable cruiser' early greyhound era stainless steel can make the mind go yonder...
Nice looking bus, sad it’s so worn out, must be super high mileage. 👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🤘🏻🤘🏻
do you know how old that bus is? 50 y/o or better. Looks damned good to me.
That’s a nice looking bud I like to how big it is inside
Still wondering about the craziness at the truck stop tire shop... You guys got plenty of issues to deal with on this one... looks good but funky down below...!
Tomorrow we will post the tire shop video
BGM will make the underworks shine like the topsides. Good work so far lads.
Exactly why rv’s should be DOT inspected and required to pull in to weight stations. Commercial drivers like me are held to a certain standard yet folks driving the SAME equipment mechancially are not. Ridiculous some of these are rolling around like that. Granted its good theyre fixing this one but how many never get fixed?
This is different. It’s an old bus with a ton of miles, so things get worn out. A weigh station won’t help with worn parts. I agree on the older ones needing to be inspected. But an actual RV doesn’t see the miles of an OTR truck with a million miles on it!
@@dodgeguyz i dont mean for the weight aspect of it. Just for the simple random inspections they should be subject to. I know most states require a yearly one but it isnt always enough. And vehicles that dont get a ton of miles can sometimes be worse because theyll develop the sitting problems that a constantly driven vehicle wont get sich as dry rot on air lines and tires and stationary trucks/busses tend to blow wheel seals.
Giving government more reason to overreach and intrude even more is NEVER the right answer!
Man what a gorgeous bus.
It sure is a good looking bus dang I wish I could afford one heck I couldn't even afford the upkeep
Jobs well done, takes time to creating a parts list that have to be for a better running bus
I am going to be waiting for you guys to finish this bus I like this video I would be definitely waiting on you guys to make the next video for part two
Glad he made it to you safely. But, He will leave with virtually a brand new riding bus all over again with everything replaced underneath. those parts were probably only replaced once before in its younger life . Especially if it was originally a Greyhound.
Another job for the Crew...hard work.
I agree I love these vids and ones like the superliner
That is a nice looking bus
Brave man following a massive bus blind up a steep hill with unknown brakes.
I'd be more worried if it was following me downhill. It beggars belief that great hulking things like this can be driven with no regular inspections or maintenance by people who clearly have no idea what they're doing.
Good looking bus...
Terrible steering in a bus has to be a touch scary.
probaply they are use to it when its fixed the owner will be wondering all over the road
She looked low on the driver's side when she pulled into the shop. What was the cause of that?
that is sure a beautiful bus
how about a update on Tyler's bus
Once you get these buses up in the air, you find all kinds of stuff wrong and ask your self, "How could this vehicle even drive on the road?"
Wow this will be one to watch.
Wow. Huge job. Mother Nature took a toll on that old girl. What about scenic cruiser
First time viewer. This bus looks more like a PREVOST BUS than a MCI rear. I never seen this Bus model before. Amazing. 👍✅😃🚌
Its an MC-7 with a roof cap on it
Do you guys do the alignment? Caster/Camber toein & out on a machine there?
Abbott bus lines in Roanoke Virginia have a lot of old parts for mci's
Nice looking MCI. If anyone is interested, there’s a MCI-5 in Louisville KY that’s been parked at a bus storage yard for at least 5 years. Doesn’t look bad.
Is it for sale?
@@jefferyepstein9210 'this is america, everything is for sale" :) MCI-5 would also be my choice. best looking buses out there
@@uliwehner It's probably owned by one of those "I'm going to get to it" type of people who won't sell it.
With Scott, maintenance will no longer be an issue for an older bus....price is already right!
Might need a respirator to follow that bus up the mountain , call that bus Cha Ching 🤑
how much will all those parts cost and how many tears or miles were on them ?
What year is this coach? I absolutely love these MCI's. I think they're what I might aim for when I get one of my own.
Awesome
It'll feel like a different bus when it pulls out of there...
As #WatchWesWork says, that's the little know Superleggeria MCI, ultra light weight. Wow, I do not think I have seen brake cans like that still in service. "Drive it like you stole it" sticker, nice!
Bus looks great on the outside, just no maintenance “under” the bus?
at 50 y/o that bus is excellent
MCI is head quartered in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada 🇨🇦
keep the clips coming
If you buy ice melt bags of calcium in the spring they are super cheap. Spread that on your driveway and it will control the dust for months.
No DOT inspections,,wow.I can't imagine something in that bad a shape allowed on the road.
Cool
Get one of those 150-275gal plastic food storage totes with the metal cage put a small gas powered trash pump and Put it in your 1ton pickup some 1/2'or 3/4 schedule 40 pvc 2elbows 3 ts and put 2 120degree 1/2 circle spray heads and 2 quarter heads mix 1bsg calcium chloride. 2bottles dollar store dish washing soda and spray on road keeps dust down just spray on top of stone and soap makes the salt water stick to stone instead of washing away
I can’t imagine what all these repairs cost!
If you're getting quality work it's worth the price.
Safety is priceless
When Scott gets done with this bus it will be road ready! Yes it will be expensive but when it’s all done it will be worth it!
Those brake chambers look worse than what's on my company's dump trucks.
You have a Thing? Are you kidding me? It would be awesome to watch you fix that up.
As an Aussie I've noticed a few operators of auto content channels have recently moved to Tennessee, anyone enlighten me as to the lure of that state? Is it just an all-round good place to live or is there something else to it?
Property is cheap and plentiful. Also NO State Income Tax. I'm sure there are also plenty of other reasons that I'm not familiar with.
For those who don’t live in the US, just be aware that there are large disparities in property taxes, business taxes and state income and sales taxes from state to state. I’m not even touching on local business licensing and regulation. Tennessee would be considered a very good place to set up and profitably run a small business like BGM, New York or California (for example) would not. Businesses remain in high tax jurisdictions because they service local needs (a plumber, for ex) or for the same reason that our ancestors emigrated and would up in the US or Australia - inertia and unwillingness to move.
Also: the weather is generally better, as in warmer than up north, and much more rain than out west. greetings from north of Atlanta
So much emphasis placed on what things LOOK like, and little to no attention towards whether or not it'll go down the road dependably or safely! Ah well, at least the new owner had good discrestion to get it to the proper location and have the issues corrected.
This poor old coach has obviously spent a lotta time in the Midwest or Northeast.
I thought you were gonna say the tyre fitter ran out of ciggarettes.
At least it won't be pulling to the left anymore and will handle properly once finished. At least, he brought it to the right guys to do the work.
Yes I like to see that you’re a Volkswagen head also me and my wife of been Volkswagen people forever I met her living out of her Volkswagen van and going to Long Beach State College I thought that’s pretty hairball for a girl living out of a Volkswagen van that we had I’ve had 267’s still have 66 and 70 in my best buddy was Mary Lori the Dino dinosaur a VW’s and Jean Berg had all my money at one time growing up in orange county in the mid-80s Volkswagens were every friggin wear but I would love to have a bus that is a clean looking MCI bus but it’s affordability I’ll keep watching your videos I like watching you guys turn wrenches I love the location that you’re out you’re out of the cement jungle that’s for sure take care stay safe
So just curious, what does all of that cost, parts and labor to repair those items on the bus?
Hi! I'm looking to buy a used Buffalo bus from GMC. What should one check as suspicious among all those old things ? Thanks!
That would be a class ride to pull into Sturgis,S.D. with right now. With functional air in 100*F temps it would be bitchin` to camp out in. Is it called rough camping when all ya have is black and white TV? BWAHAHA
Huge lack of maintenance issues i.e. no maintenance. If that were a commercial vehicle the DOT would place it out of service, imminent hazard.
You should have a sign strategically placed.. Sayin “Giver Hell!”
Just curious, what is the estimate on repairs to this bus? I’m contemplating buying an older conversion bus and upgrading from my diesel pusher motor home. I sure like the idea of a bus. I am a quite skilled auto mechanic but I have not worked on a bus before. Thanks and keep up the great work. I never miss a video.
I think the general rule is to budget about 20k for either deferred maintenance or updates.
Diesel and heavy duty is a whole 'nother ballgame. I had auto and diesel training. Everything is bigger and heavier and more expensive. Put away those 'watch repair' tools as my instructor would call a 2 lb. hammer and get a REAL hammer (12 lb.)
On an older Prevost, rule of thumb to bring back to original is about 30,000 on chassis..
If you like the looks of the bus, still a better way to go than a new Class A.
Nice driveway as well it's nice to be so far off the road . Do you own all the land up to the garage ? The apartment getting there what a great place you have
Scott owns pretty much all you see, 25 acres
@@richardlazarski4553 25 looks like a lot when it's covered in trees . I have a friend in S.Dakota who has 40 and you can see Evey inch of it lol I much prefer the 25 with trees myself . Thank you
Who do you order you parts from? NFI parts?
Luke at US Coach in NJ 1 (888) 262-2434 most parts. Cardinal coach in NC some too
There goes 20 Grand and I would service the engine and trans and fuel system. Those million mile busses they never keep the undercarriage clean and inspected and lubed like they should. My buddy has a Super High Pressure Undercarriage Power wash system that literally steams the rust and dirt off the bottom. He then applies a Special adhesive paint and a water repellant undercoat and makes it look new with a 7 year warranty. I have seen old nasty Busses come out looking Brand New. He got the Idea when he used to work for Greyhound as a Shop Supervisor. He charges $1995.00 and I swear they look absolutely new when finished. He does this to a lot of the High End Motor Homes. They also wash Busses and apply a ceramic coating and when finished gee they look good. His machine vibrates the High Pressure water and solvent and he recycles it. He says on a Old Greyhound Bus it could have 250 lbs of dirt and grime built up over time. Once finished he Lubes everything and you can eat off the engine and complete drive train. I saw a bus he did 5 years ago and water still will not stick to it and it looks amazing. Salt no problem.
Sammy my buddy Jeff Jim he had a MCI bus and we took it to the Volkswagen swap me loaded up with all Volkswagen parts to sell he used to have a scat contract and he’s one of the best head builders per VW’s there is I would say he grew up under Jean Berg wings and also Dino dinosaur I have one friend that works for Jean Berg for over 35 years I couldn’t believe it when I found out that these were through that long time flies man Time just goes by too quick I’m 63 well gonna be 63 so Lisa made it this long 63 in October 11 and get all Tom Petty he was born October 22 both libras yeah so when I get to heaven I’m gonna go see Tom Petty for free take care
Plot twist: the driveway wasn't dusty at all.
who knows, maybe even better MPG when not driving with the brakes on?
That brake chamber is religious.
A pre purchase inspection I think would be a good idea on these old girls
From what I understand he bought it and took it straight to BGM, so he probably had an inspection, looked at the needs based on the cost of the bus to purchase + repairs (after discussing with BGM) and took the plunge.
