I'm glad you like my creations ;-)
THANK YOU for such an amazing model! It really gives the Prusa MINI a striking appearance. Just plain awesome!
Cool design!
@@3DPrintingNerd thank you 😊
I made mine and can't be any happier with your design! Thank you very much
Thanks for sharing the design!
Wicked. Just need a mini now to do this upgrade.
I love the editing! so many nostalgic moments :)
I LOVE THIS! I printed mine with black petg and then white petg inserts!
Thanks for putting this video up!
Cool video again Joel. 🙌 And the upgrade is indeed a must have for the MINI. Works incredibly well. 🙂
Thanks as always, Bart!
Heck yes mate! Been wanting to print these for mine!
DO IT DUDE. Plus, when you DO print these, my vote is blue. OR WAIT - RESIN!
That is a fine stand!! I really like your color selections too, since blue is my favorite color.
I did the stand as well. You might find the extrusion covers helpful as well. The one thing I didn't like was that the old PSU holder was too big to print on the Mini. However, there was a remix of the PSU holder that does fit and I used that one instead. I also found that the zig-zag was too shallow for the larger cables. If you have a filament runout sensor, the screws will go through the zig-zag and cut into the wires. I just left my sensor as built.
We’ve got to do this for ours, it really cleans things up
Watching all these videos for years ☺️ in Your goofy 😋 style is hard to get bored of. Nice, legs 🍗😜(design and function)
Hahahha, thank you! I'm just a nerd that loves this stuff, thankful to have you along!
Three more legs than me 😂😂. Love the base, what a great idea! Just need a Prusa now 🤔
Atomic CF Petg is one of my favorites. They also make it in black and a super dark red. Good filament choice Joel.
I printed my mini base... It's amazing!! One side note... I glued in my inserts.
Awesome as always!
Duct tape hammer was clutch! Great vid.
hahah RIGHT! Thank you so much!
awesome, thanks Joel
Thanks as always, my friend!
Done it two weeks ago, its amazing!!!
That's freaking awesome!
Might have to by a mini just so I can do this cool update. Thank you for sharing.
Thank YOU for watching! OH, you could make it so the legs are robotic and make the printer walk while printing!
@@3DPrintingNerd Holy crap, now thats a great idea and 1 more reason to find a mini some place.
Looks great 👍
joel is the only person i know who has the patience to print something with 30 different parts
In like Flynn Need to print the other orange parts in the corresponding new colors
great suggestion
I like the upgrade!
that is quite nicely designed
It’s SO cool
I just went down the Arduino rabbit hole, I found your electronics knowledge quite entertaining lol
Another great upgrade for the mini is the "printshift" belt printer bed for it. Turn your mini into a production printer with part ejecting!
Where does one find this? A Google search didn't seem to return anything relevant here.
Really gotta admire people that have skills and patience to design something this massive just to improve something.
It’s SO COOL
You should make a t-shirt that says. My good tools are at home. I feel like you always say that. Nice upgrade.
I don't have a Prusa Mini, but liked the video. I especially like moving the switch; 3D printer switch locations are like the early PCs.
Holy cow that's so true!
Looks nice
My best mod for the mini was printing the back cover for the display screen.
Don't own a Prusa Mini, but that is a cool upgrade!
Nice video. If I had a mini, I would improve it with this too. You should consider printing the orange parts and replace them in blue or the other color ;)
Yeah, LIGHTSPEED had that suggestion too. I like that idea.
+1 for Voltron reference
Cool, I've been thinking of doing this upgrade.
Hi Joel I hope your day is good
"Blizzard Test" ... I haven't heard that term since I worked at a Dairy Queen many decades ago. =D
look so cool 👍
I love the duct tape hammer.
@3D Printing Nerd the Mini + is exactly the same wiring wise. Just got mine and it's the same to do this mod. Only big difference is the new one has the super pinda.
This video made me wanna buy a mini+ now, im ordering it tomorrow and doing a payment plan cause I just got paid and mostly used it all already on other stuff...
CF PETG damn, you went all in
I'm going to be using this mod, but with some modifications that will basically make my Prusa Mini Original look like Mega Gengar from pokemon. Cause I hadn't seen anyone do it yet and it's one of my favorites.
amazing
Makes the Mini look like a real printer now!
It’s such an aggressive look!
If they could make this for other printers it would be mental
Can't wait for somebody to create a Oil Rig version of it
I am thinking about getting one of these once I get my Prusa Box put together. Nice stand lol to each is own with colors I personally don't like the blue..
@3DPrintingNerd - Thanks for the vid- looking into a possible purchase of the Mini+. Can you provide what the overall footprint of the printer is with those legs added? I have a smaller shelf that this is going to need to fit on. Thanks!
Switch should have some cover looks like can be easily knocked back. The spool also dont have air tight container. Is there a revised version of this?
Didn't even need an angle grinder to fix the power supply holder! :D (sorry, I still liked that solution for the Ender 7 problem) I do like how it's both functional and decorative.. we look at our printers a lot over time, so we really should like their appearance. I've added lighting to my Ender3's, but I feel like doing some more custom upgrades after seeing this.
Hahahahhahaha. YES! Also, you're right. Functional AND decorative!
Cool mod! I would be so tempted to just build a custom USB extension cable (Adafruit has some parts, just not the 90-degree connector-- I would trawl Digikey for that).
Oh, OH! Holy cow that's a great idea!
9:54 - 9:58 are the motors sending current to the control board when the mini is unplugged and off? that's a cool... feature. hand powered 3D printing is coming.
Looks great Joel! I've done the same upgrade and I really enjoy how compact it looks. Have you tried printing with the spool under the bed yet? I'm interested in your thoughts on how well the spool rotates as it's printing. Move has the sensor so it has a small section of PTFE tubing after it. The tubing gets wrapped up into the spool of filament as it's trying to pull the spool to unload filament for printing. I'm playing with it too see if I can make that process smoother. What's your experience? Great video and as always with Joel excitement while doing it.
I've been using the filament under the bed for awhile now, and the only thing I've noticed that could be a problem is that when the line rubs against the legs, it digs a small groove, but other than that, it works really well
I like this upgrade, also cool video! 😎
hey 🙃
It isn't an upgrade, it's a modification
@@shaunmorrissey7313 it’s the same, the title says “Upgrade!”
Im looking for a first 3D printer I was gonna grab a prebuilt pusia mini + is there anything else I should look at in the $500 range ?
How do you print the old PSU holder on the MINI? No matter how I orient it I cannot get the entire thing to fit on the build plate.
Joel, I have a chance to purchase a monoprice delta pro for super cheap. Any tips or things to look out for before I buy?
Well now I know what my next project is
PLEASE do this, and tag me if you post photos I want to see it.
@@3DPrintingNerd will do, it's not going to be as nice looking as your unfortunately lol. I only have white and black petg and a tiny bit of galaxy black pla prusament atm
I finally got around to printing this... my left legs keep falling out and when its on a flat surface, it looks tilted.
what is the total height of the printer with mini base? will go into enclosure lack v2?
Mounting the power supply to the printer means you will most likely have to run an extension strip to be able to plug it in, I considered having a power brick to be an advantage over a fixed power supply, and the whole point of getting a small form factor printer was a small size, it's like mounting a raspberry pi in a full-size tower case!
Oh, I definitely know what you mean. For me, the power outlet is super close. The power supply mount is super optional and not needed to make the new legs look fantastic :)
Nice video, A 3d printer is so awesome, make educational videos about it, innovate with it, I can't afford a 3d printer, but I have been trying to get one for 6 years. Please make more cool videos like this one 🙂 🤠
I have been designs 3d models and learning CAD plus blender would be great for school and especially home 🏡🏠
Watching all these videos for years ☺️ in Your goofy 😋 style is hard to get bored of nice legs 🍗🍗
If a 3F printer is too expensive for you, did you have a look for a makerspace nearby?
@@ClickItYT I live in a place where maker spaces are uncommon, and most of them close after 1-3 months, mostare only available for educational institutions( ;( not even 3d printer farms) I will sell art on etsy for money and buy a 3d printer from that
Where did you get the file for the older PSU? I need this for my upgrade! Thanks!
look does look cool. Now you just need to print replacement parts of the other orange bits.
Do the legs fit in the printing volume of the mini?
how is the noise/resonance and print quality? does it make anything worse?
Thank you for the video! Do you have any service or product recommendations for people who run a business? I sell a few items but I would love to see a video geared towards businesses or people who are thinking about starting a business. Thanks! 😄
Hmm, what do you mean? That is pretty generic for a question - are there specific problems you are wanting to solve in your business?
Did all the parts where printed with the MINI? 😁 Thanks
I believe they’re called fast on connectors. I am pretty sure.
Seeing those filament colours made me want to browse their wares. As beautiful as they are, I'm so bummed that no one has any good PETG in purple. I don't mean a red or a blue with a faint hue, but I mean like a real purple, like Barney terrorizing your kids purple, or Grimace stealing your nuggets purple :/
Do you recommend prusa against ender
Chaos every morning : I choose Joel.
How long did it take to print the parts with just this one printer?
Hi, I can see one possible Problem with the Cable you are using. At (12:14) you can see that you are using 16 AWG CCA (Copper Clad Aluminium) Cable. It is more comparable to an 18 AWG Copper Cable. I'm unable to see the diameter of the wire you are replacing which means it could be perfectly fine. If the wire you are replacing is effectively to small for the current, it can overheat and burn. It is best to replace Cable or Wire for power transmission uses with the same or higher effective diameter Cable or Wire. CCA can be a bit of a trap.
Hi, What infill did u use on the legs. I was hoping to make this for myself but I didnt want to have to reprint the legs because they arent strong enough.
Use 3 / 4 perimeters and it’ll be strong enough
@@3DPrintingNerd thx will do
CAUTION: 9:48 Yes, a motor is also a generator. Move parts slowly otherwise you are backfeeding electricity. That’s why the display lit up, and you CAN damage your printer like this. What a fabulous design!
The design is great! However, I think there are protections in place. I remember Proper Printing tried to destroy a machine by backfeeding electricity, and it didn't break. Maybe this requires a deeper dive.
Would printing the inserts in flexible material help with vibration dampening?
Hmm, I don't know if there would be enough material to have that effect.
@@3DPrintingNerd worth a try, topic for follow up video. And thanks for making more bite sized videos
It looks like an offshore drilling platform when it's just the new legs.
OH MY GOODNESS you're right.
14:58 There are three screws to even out the pressure. Ever lay on a bed of nails? It’s easy. Using only one screw may exert too much force and bend the internal parts of the connector.
That makes a lot of sense.
@@3DPrintingNerd BTW, thanks for a fun, almost candid videos. 😉
does it add to the noise tho?
Hi from sweden love all u do. Got me to get mere printers :p
first i would like to have a mini then i would do it too
where can I get those colored allen wrenches?
Wera
New one is coming ,😄💕👌👍
YES!
@@3DPrintingNerd 💕👍
Hexagons are bestagons!
This video will help for anyone doing the upgrade understand it a little better. But man, those color choices? Most of the upgrades out there with different colors than the orange and black do a full reprint of all the plastic parts on the mini so the upgraded parts match. I chose orange and black for my upgrade because I didn’t have the time or patience do disassemble and reassemble my entire printer to make it look neater than the original upgrade. This blue and vanilla bean is a terrible mismatch to the black and orange and makes me think this guy might be colorblind? Also, if you don’t want to wait on Amazon, I was able to pick up the spade connectors and wiring at my local auto parts store.
terrible mismatch to the black and orange - yes. colorblind? nope hahahha.
@@3DPrintingNerd Thanks for your channel. It is very well done and informative.
hexagon is the bestagon
Anyone done any other refinements to their mini to enhance print quality??
I did. I put it all in a box and sold it. Used the money towards a MK3s+
Bondtech extruder (or a clone.)
Hexagons are the bestagons
😂😂
I feel like if I did this, I would *immediately* have to start replacing the orange original parts.
How is the prusa mini nowadays? How far off Mk3s is it in print quality?
From my research(I just bought the mini+), there is no difference in print quality, just bed size. I could have got bad information but that's what I was told in their discord and why I bought the mini+
Gorilla tape as a hammer for the win!
I'd do this upgrade if it made my prints look better.
It'll definitely look better WHILE printing. It is possible that this new base could mitigate vibrations better, but I have no data on that.
Should be called the "Lunar Lander Leg Upgrade". Did you print all the parts with the Mini?
All of the blue parts were printed on the MINI. The other parts were printed on the mk3
The prusa mini on stilts kind of looks like a mini oil rig
Haha. It does!
Can you print this on the prusa mini or is it to big?
I printed all the blue parts on the MINI. I think all the other parts will fit as well.
@@3DPrintingNerd it does fit, it is an awesome upgrade. Great video again
Thank you guys! Can't wait to print
Was all of this printed on the Mini?
All of the blue parts were printed on the MINI because I have a NozzleX on it and the blue is CF PETG. The Vanilla Bean prints were done on the mk3.
Joel... you have solvents. You could have cleaned the adhesive residue off the extrusions 🤦♂️
DANG IT. I didn't even think of that. You're right.
That's what I the moment Joel started banging on the legs.
i need this for ender 3 v2
Yessss
