Adrien Broner returns to the winner's circle after a significant victory. The last time he secured a win in a fight, it was still six months before Floyd Mayweather Jr. faced off against Conor McGregor.
This changed on Saturday night when Broner emerged victorious against Jovanie Santiago, earning a unanimous decision victory with scores of 117-110, 116-111, and 115-112. The fight took place at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn. DAZN News, however, had the fight scored 114-113 in favor of Santiago.
The narrative of the fight unfolded much as it typically does when Broner steps into the ring. Santiago began the bout by taking control of the first half with his higher activity level. He pressed forward, landing combinations and targeting Broner's body. Meanwhile, Broner was notably less active, often limited to throwing single jabs and keeping his back against the ropes.
In classic Broner fashion, he rallied in the second half of the match, notably starting in the seventh round. The former four-division world champion unleashed a flurry of punches, showcasing his lightning-quick combinations and his trademark check left hook, which nearly dropped Santiago in the eighth round.
Nonetheless, the outcome of the fight remained uncertain as it approached the 12th and final round. Santiago's corner urged him to go for a finish, as they were unsure about securing a decision victory. Santiago gave it his all, relentlessly attacking Broner, and he landed 32 of 95 punches in the final three minutes, while Broner connected on just seven of 34.
According to Compubox, Broner landed 98 out of 338 punches (29 percent), while Santiago connected with 207 out of 697 (29.7 percent). Surprisingly, the judges did not reward Santiago's activity and aggression and instead handed Broner his first win since a split decision victory over Adrian Granados in February 2017.

  • And people think Francis got robbed. Broner got outlanded more than 2 to 1 in this fight at the same accuracy rate.

    • I love to see Dirty fighters lose😂. Broner fought a good clean fight after being away from boxing for 2 years and a month. What a great return. I was expecting more from Broner but he put an excellent display of boxing 🥊💪.

  • Broner doesn’t throw enough punches man. If he combos more he’d finish a lot of ppl because he is quick and powerful and can defend himself.

  • If anything this looks like a draw, but the name Adrian Bronner is more famous than the upstart, Santiago so it will draw more fans and revenue for fights, Boxing is really really a corrupt sport just for money...

  • Finally back after the loss with Packman which he still salty about and does not admit he lost. Lol People saying Broner will be unstoppable if he starts throwing more and add power punches lol 😂 If he could do that he would be champion init. He cannot do it . The fighters won’t let him throw them punches that easy as he will be counters or caught., got to be careful that’s the best he could do., Haha Broner is a pro so he know what he is doing. He can be better but not unbeatable or on the top anymore. He is done., he still can fight though not at the champion level., :) #peace #respect

    • Na he can throw more brah it's more his mind over matter becouse that nigga can take punishment he showed he had a chin so it's him not necessarily his opps becouse he's on a different level then most but it's him ,for example this fight whenn he was catching them flurries like he's faster quicker he can beat the guy every round even if he dousent try to knock them out just win the rounds he can do that Easley, now every body is not this guy but but more then half of ab opps be guys like this so it's him in my opinion, becouse he showed he can fight better

    • That’s why he started losing if he stayed lower in weight he’d still be a problem but he wanted to be like Floyd and went up to 147
