Two planes nearly collided at Washington's Reagan National Airport
A JetBlue flight from Washington to Boston began to take off at the same time a Southwest jet was crossing the same runway. Both planes stopped moments before a potential collision.

I mean, ATC gave SW2937 clear instructions to cross Rwy 4, the pilot clearly repeated back the instruction. ATC messed up on this. ATC should've corrected the bad instruction.
It’s the people in the control tower to blame here
It’s not a near miss. It’s a near hit. We have a transportation secretary with zero qualifications and fatigued employees. A recipe for disaster.
The current one? I don’t remember having one that could understand ATC, or aviation, or any other mean of transportation. Those are political appointees, the current and prior ones. This the disaster we have with poor ATC technology, and overworked crews
DC airport always been a mess, its too damn small and can't hold international airlines the way Dulles can hold them. One reason why it is better to fly out of IAD or BWI
The FAA in 2012 went to using biographical information to hire candidates rather than training and talent assessment testing (the test that was released in court documents showed things like: You would get 1 point on your score for every high school sport you played, several points if you were unemployed, and surprisingly if you have a pilot's license or previous experience you get 0 points) The FAA is still paying for this blunder and during this time thousands of students paying for their own training gave up trying to get in and moved on with their lives. They probably are not "understaffed", they just don't have enough qualified controllers. Reply
If there was more diversity in the tower they could have discussed and come to a consensus. I fly a lot please fix this!
I can feel the sarcasm flowing in you.... 😆
This has been happening lately with ATC. Are the controllers paying attention? Younger Gen Z love being on their phones. They should not allow smart phones in the ATC towers. These people have our lives in their hands
Where is AI, shouldn't the latest technology be applied to air traffic control?
Well the main thing is that we have DEI. That’s more important than people’s lives according to mental people on the left.
Maybe these people need a little time off
Is this also Boeings fault?
Wild 😮
It's DEI, folks! It must stop! I do not care if my ATC is yellow, purple, pink or blue - I want the most qualified person POSSIBLE in that tower!
Oh boy, here we go with MAGAt talking points.😂
thanks to Trump no collision happened
Bad enough people don’t know how to drive, now we are having the same problem in the skies.
It was on the ground,no sky involved.
I bet they have lots of DEI hires. Only highly trained, experienced people should be working at the airports.
DEI have absolutely nothing to do with pilots or air traffic control. That’s an FAA issue. Blame something else & educate yourself before commenting on something you obviously know nothing about
Oh boy, here we go again with MAGAt talking points.😂
