Don't even own a W204 yet but this is one of the best exhaust videos I've watched for any vehicle. 10/10 and I will be buying a shirt. W204 is in the future for me without a doubt.
Update i now have a pristine pearl white 2011 c63, this car is incredible and this exhaust is coming soon.
@@96Dak318must be a great feeling, I’m looking into one right now 🔥
@@96Dak318Any head bolt issues on that year? Congrats
@@totophandhamaly9944i thought the 2011 and up was good?
@@dylankent6908The early 2011 C63 AMGs had head bolt issues. Mercedes-AMG fixed the head bolt issue midway through the 2011 model year, so late 2011 cars are fine. Specifically, AMG engine 060658 and onward had the problem solved by updated head bolts, according to some posts on the U.K. Mercedes Club's forum.
Are you kidding me.. the perfect exhaust comparison after scouring KZhead watching a stupid amount of video for hours to find the tone I wanted lol. Nice job though.
Ah sorry to hear that, I noticed a similar thing which is what inspired me to make this video!
Videos like these on random hobbies I have are the best thing about youtube and the internet. I'm endlessly thankful for people who make videos and write ups like this online.
Man I can’t say how glad I am you made this video, and it’s so damn thorough and well put together. Cheers man you just gained a sub

Dude this video is awesome! If anyone with an M156 has a question about what exhaust setup they do I’m just sending them this!
Fantastic video, just in time for my headers arriving Thursday. Thanks Sam keep up the great content!

Definitely an amazing vid bro I don’t find vids like this at all and I’ve been in the market for a 13 sedan 63 so this vid helped a lot

On video I think I like the decat h-pipe or x-pipe with high flow res pipes and stock mufflers I find this is the best set up on the a45 aswell not to respy ,nice and deep low end and balls to the wall loud when full throttle 😂
Nice Job. I'm running MBH and straight to the stock mufflers personally. Sounds nice.
I bet it does, nice setup

Thanks for featuring the monster Sam!!!
Of course! Thanks for sending the clip!
Excellent video . . . . Thanks 👍
well done great work
Long tube headers and an x pipe sounds like heaven
I miss my C63 with the ARH catless LTHs and x-pipe (stock from res back).
This needs more view very underrated
Deserves more views!
love content like this. keep it up.
Great video very comprehensive. What is it about the end mufflers in the c63 that make them so popular? I have these mufflers on my e550 coupe and they do as you say produce just the right amount of sound with absolutely no drone... I am tempted to remove them however because I want more volume they do muffle a lot of sound. I was looking for a similar design but more volume.
great video format
Thank you!
the 8:03 h pipe res delete is the best one
What a video!!! Thanks 🙏🏼
Very informative video.ans to the point. Subscribed.
Thanks for the sub!
Wish i knew about this a week ago ! 😂 you didn’t mention my setup and it sounds good af! LTHs zero primary cats zero secondary cats and a custom h pipe for the resonator and stock mufflers secondary is just straight pipe
haha well if you follow me on ig @sam.amg you'd know! are u saying you don't have mufflers? that no mufflers is way too loud on their own nevermind w headers lmao
Headers ruin the sound, it wouldve just had that terrible sound the rest of the headers cars had. Plus primary cat delete also ruins the sound, so it wouldve been the worst sounding out of all of them.
@@Sideways_Singh hi. I’ve got a 2009 C63 P30 pack with 18,000miles. I’m taking your advice of NO headers, NO primary cat delete. The car is used primarily as family sedan so I don’t want any drone when cruising. I’m considering deleting the secondary cat and retaining the resonator and stock mufflers. What is the best replacement for the secondary cat, x-pipe h-pipe or straight pipe?
@@kirtanbawa h pipe or straight pipe, straight pipe is alot louder, they both sound good, idk which one u might prefer, listen to the difference, try to use speakers with a powerful subwoofer to get a more accurate sound of rea life

Haha glad u liked it man, mines still stock too 😂
Catted headers, H pipe, Resonator and Stock mufflers is the best. Maybe switch stock mufflers for valved muffler
Just got my c63 and revisiting this. Secondary cat delete with an x pipe to keep the original setup within the cats. I'll keep my resonator though. I can't stand drone.
At 10:24 that's my setup on my 507edition 😁 I love it and it's pretty loud 😍

great video mate - just noticed the yellow SL number plate to the right of the background ;) what's the connection to that number plate if I may ask :)
Thank you! I am ethnically Sri Lankan, and while visiting family in SL a few years back my mom found a couple license plates sitting at some shop where one of our cars was getting serviced and asked if she could take them 😂 I guess they weren't needed anymore so they gave them to her, and yeah that's that
I honestly use muff delete and resonator super loud
Good content, nice to hear the different sound the c63 m156 can make... Other factors to take into consideration with all the different setups is "What Throttle Bodies The Car Has Also - Fuel Injectors And Air Filters All Add To The Tones The Car Can Make" My 507 with All the mods currently on it sounds so Visceral!!! Every time the cold start growls back like its ready to get it fight!!! Its fucking awesome Love it!!! AMG Power For Life💀💀💀
14:10 Dam if I knew you were making this video I would have sent my clips. I have a shitload for MBH LTH, secondary cat delete with stock resonator and mufflers. They’re insane and got me kicked out of the Nurburgring for being too loud this year 😂
haha I was posting about it for awhile on IG, unfortunately a KZhead post wouldn't get as much exposure. I have a few friends with a similar setup, sounds ridiculous!
what'd you replace the 2nd cat with? I'm aiming for a h-pipe on mine
@@SamAbraham ah dang, don’t have you on IG

This video is gold! I have an edition 507 on h pipe + resonator delete and it sounds crazy enough for me. Any chance you can do an exhaust video for the other AMG v8s? Say like M113k, M157, and M177
I could try.. though it would be more difficult. I was able to pull this off because most of my instagram following is M156 owners, so I was able to get all these setups pretty quickly. Its not a bad idea though, maybe ill start asking some people.
@@SamAbraham That would be amazing if we can build an archive of the sounds of AMG v8s before they go extinct.
Thank you for the comparison
Of course, been following you on IG for a long time now haha
I went the straight pipe route by deleting the secondary cats. Everything else is stock. Great sound under acceleration but sounds stock at idle.
Ok
Interestingly on the S63 there's only 1 set of cats (no secondary cats) stock, but they might be more restrictive, since at the end of the day it sounds like a C63 with a resonator delete only. Mind you I'm basing this on what I'm hearing in these videos. Also those who say they don't have drone without the resonator should try to keep a steady 2000 rpm under load with a hot exhaust. In that scenario there's some drone, which might get annoying (but you won't get that in normal every day driving). Also great video comparing the exhaust setups!
Its quite interesting how much M156 exhaust setups differ between chassis, my ML63 also doesn't have any secondaries. Even if you delete secondaries on the ML, however, its STILL quieter than a stock C63. Glad you enjoyed the vid!
I thought the resonator had an internal H-pipe? I want to remove the secondary cats with straight pipes, but now I don’t know.. I guess you want some sort of cross over, otherwise you essentially have 2 four cylinder engines.
I think I like all of the above.
I currently have ARH with sport cars stock resonator and mufflers. I been thinking full ARH set up but I really want to keep the stock mufflers. I was thinking maybe have a local shop replace my resonator with X and H pipe to see what it sounds like and also dyno both to see what gives more gains. Once I decide one or the other I want to replace the 2.75 stock pipes immediately after the ARH set up with 3 inch piping connected to the stock mufflers and why not 3inch tips. How that sounds and dyno it as well 🤔🔊
I done backbox mod and secondary cat. Deep as fuck but drones a lot internally
MBH headers with stock 2nd cat, res and muffler. Does it sound nice?
The FI mufflers sound the best next to stock.
Thank you so much! Would you say the 2nd cats or the resonator is the more subtle option? I want louder than standard but not ridiculous
From what I've heard in real life, deleting the secondaries is the more subtle option. That being said this is all subjective!
@@SamAbraham thank you!
Where did you get your shirt from? It looks nice with the Maroon!
Its my company, STA Industries! Thanks! The link to the site is in the bio, staindustries.co
Will all these headers fit on w211 e63? Not the full exhaust just headers
wooo, i love your t-shirt
Haha thanks! staindusties.co !
Do you have any evidence there is an X pipe within the secondary cat setup? I am under the impression they are two separate spun cats, simply contained together with one heat shield, so no direct cross over of the two banks (There is a small H pipe in the resonator)
i own a c63 black series special edition number 7 of 60 world wide was made for a exclusive invite order offer in 2015 i was the last of he naturally aspirated models my car has no super charger but a few other tricks and mods internally to get these numbers without turbo or supercharger ,i had both cats removed only and a special custom titanium downpipe and mid pipe kept stock res and the mufflers and i can tell you that i've yet to hear a louder car than mine it has such a beautiful sound and after i tuned it i got the car to 440kw at the wheel that hits close to 700 hp now thats not supercharged it is a 10 second car now on quarter mile 10.7 0-100 3.0 sec , i also did the same to my friends car but he got the army rix downpipes with same both cats and kept res and it sounded allot better then any other exhaust and without the add on of headers, the c63 black series and 507 stock headers are very good as is and swapping them to get maybe 10 hp more and not much a diff in sound and loudness is a waste you don't need it you can make it even more louder by taking res but tbh don't do it its not pleasant to drive if its ur daily any questions happy to ask ,, i don't have a KZhead or page for my cars but i can dm some sound clips and vids o show
Agree with you , take both cats is the best option_ simple , cheap and still keep stock rumble sound and alot louder 👍
Where to get the pipe to "Primary Cat Delete and 2nd Cat Delete WITH Resonator"??
what if i want long tube headers with the rest of the exhaust system stock?
I got c63 performance package , it got turned. Afew years ago I removed 2nd cat and put straight pipe, it sounds like stock but alot louder when press down,so happy . After a while I wanted to replace resonator with straight pipe too . The muffler man said don't touch it but I wanted to try .the result after 5 minutes test drive with straight pipe 2nd cat and resonator . No no no,it's less noise , it's less amg rumble sound , and I asked him to put the resonator back right after that _ I paid him double for nothing🤣. In my opinion, straight pipe the 2nd cat is cheap and simple but get the big big change. I got a few advices that if I want it louder with the same tone , also remove the primary cat . And It will cost to tune the car again. Too loud is easy to get in trouble with the police. Still thinking 😀
Thanks for sharing! So many combinations are possible its often hard to decide, and on top of that its all subjective at the end of the day haha. Best of luck!
I start my driving academy courses tomorrow morning... when I pick up my W204 C63 AMG in the next 6 months to a year from now, the first thing I'm going to do is replace that massive resonator with a double x pipe.
I want to hear a full ARH with there cat back I have looked high and low only 2 cars that I have seen had the rear section.
Yeah, I've never heard a C63 with their full catback system, however the car at 14:20 does have ARH headers and the ARH midsection (X-pipe essentially). But it still has the stock resonator and stock mufflers.
@@SamAbraham yea I have that same setup on my c63 you can check it out I have a clip on my KZhead Chanel. But kinda want to try their rear section.
check out 17:50 ARH no cats
@@charliecherdak7943 I have that same setup on my car.
Do summary what is the loudest setup?
I think you should make another video just about tunes
That's a good idea, I'll just have to think about how to present the tunes. Might be hard to properly depict the differences u know? Hard enough to get exhaust sounds to come across accurately through video haha
do a m113k video like this
Yo bro i have my c350 down pipe and full straight pipe just a x pipe on it but it’s sound to raspy I got stage 1 make loud pops but when I’m driving sound extremely raspy What u recommend it for the raspy tone stock muffler with x pipe or resonator with x pipe ?
I don't really know much about the C350 exhaust, its completely different from the 63. If its too loud, put the stock muffler back. If the loudness is fine but the tone is off, then probably throw on a resonator
Hi, there‘s not a setup with only longtube headers?
Can some body tell me the pipe diameter so I can cut my secondary cats out and replace resonator with x pipe
Lol c63pilo is the homie tf didn’t expect to see him in this
haha yea ive known him for a while
I just bought my w204 507 edition and it’s being delivered at the moment, do you have any recommendations for the best exhaust
Well, that's all up to you based off this video. If you want to to ease into it, delete the secondary cats first, and then resonator if thats not loud enough for you
Just angle the headers out of the hood like those Dave and busters video games
Anyone have thoughts on keeping stock resonators and secondary cats with the long tube headers? Or should you just straight pipe it?
hi mate thinking to buy ither a c63 2012 or cls63 2015 which of these cars got the laudest exhaust sysptem ? and which one of them can i get the laudest more? thank you
From factory the C63 will be louder, and you can make it louder than the CLS as well. That's simply because its a naturally aspirated V8, while the CLS63 is twin turbo. The turbos naturally muffle the engine noise. However, you can make a CLS63 much faster than a C63 relatively easily
@@SamAbraham thank you mate it makes sense legend
I’m looking for aftermarket exhaust with deeper sound, like Remus for M3/4. But I don’t want it to be too loud. Do you have any suggestions?
Hmm, the issue with that is a C63 is fairly loud stock and then once you start changing things it becomes ridiculous hahaha. Guess it depends on what your definition of loud is
@@SamAbraham Thanks for the reply. I'm looking for same loud as stock or a bit louder is Ok. But definitaly a much deeper sound for the exhaust.
@@watanabisasaki9456 The most you'll probably want to do is either a resonator delete or secondary cat delete. That does make the car louder, so maybe what you do is replace the secondary cats with resonators. That'll keep things on the more stock loudness side of things but gives you the chance to adjust the tone. As for which resonator to choose, I am not sure.
It depends how far you want to go with the change of the sound. Sam has a good idea with replacing secondary cats with resonators. I'll add my two cents: If you want to retain stock mufflers, remove your secondary cats and replace them with H-pipe followed by steelpacks from Porter or Brockman (their steelpacks are called Mellowtones), these are basically glasspacks but with steel wool filling, so they won't burn out and will give a deeper sound, if you want to go further to Step 2. If not, just replace secondary cats with steelpacks. Then, Step 2 is (if you put H-pipe too), from these, replace the resonator with Magnaflow dual in-dual-out muffler that will be similar in size to fit, or if possible to fit, even a bit longer one. From there, leave the rest of pipes and mufflers stock. This should give you as deep sound as possible in custom configuration with stock mufflers, without changing exhaust diameter. If you'll find it not loud enough, change the Magnaflow muffler in place of resonator for two Magnaflow round resonators, or some universal resonator from Borla (straight through, not multi-core etc). If you'd still find it too quiet, put there again some steelpacks from Porter or Brockman, or even glasspacks of any company you wish (though these will burn out at some point possibly, but are far away from catalyctic converters at that point so will withstand more). If You'd still find it too quiet, and would be okay to change the sound more significantly, you might want to replace rear mufflers with mufflers from Carlsson, Lorinser or Meisterschaft, if you're looking for dedicated exhaust system, or even with Magnaflow universal mufflers. Eventually, Billy Boat could also give you a good sound (I'm not sure if they still produce universal mufflers). You can go for Borla Touring, but it may not be as deep as the previous two. If you want some other option, go for the Remus cat-back, and replace secondary cats with 400cel or 300cel race cats. You can also check out cat backs from Eisenmann, Friedrich Motorsport and MEC Design. Last option, would be simply X-Force cat-back, with custom connecting pipes, as it is 3inch exhaust, so your shop will have to make larger flanges. I hope this helps! You have many options to play around with, I'd start with replacing secondary cats with steelpacks and see how you like it. If it won't be deep enough, add H-pipe before them, and replace the resonator with Magnaflow dual in-dual-out muffler etc.
i wanna see this but on a w211 E55 AMG
Akrapovic does not make titanium long tubes for the c63. Akra evolution system only includes the mid section and axle back.
Good to know, just checked as well
Hi everyone, I’m shopping around for C63’s right now and want some advice. What’s the farthest I can go exhaust wise to maximize performance, but prevent drone while in the highway? Thanks.
