I understood the words individually had a lot of real French like poisson du jour, but they made combination of words that were silly such as "gendarmerie" etc.
Oh yeah there are hints of real words but nothing really makes sense when they are bring up real things. A friend of mine always bragged about how good his French was, so I introduced him to my colleague from Paris last summer. I studied French for 8 years and lived there for one year, and was actually quite impressed with the pronunciation and accent, but about midway through I found myself thoroughly confused by what was being said, and then discovering that Key was just making up words.
