I’ve been on the receiving end of this as a kid, in the 1980’s. I’m on the receiving end of this now as an old guy, the young guys just happy that I’m lifting. The people you are talking to either get it or they don’t. Those who don’t won’t. Meanwhile take care of yourselves guys if you are not in a reasonably hardcore gym, give the females a wide berth and extra avoidance.

I was a trainer for 26 yrs, training pro athletes, ballet dancers, and NPC and IFBB competitors. I spent all day, every day in the gym and the difference between then and now is mindblowing. These days, walk into any chain gym and there's no feeling of anything that vaguely resembles people helping each other or allowing other people to work in on machines, etc. Instead, they're rude, impatient and downright mean sometimes. I know this does not apply to most people who go to places like Planet Fitness or 24 Hr. Fitness, but damn, I miss the good old days of independent gyms and the camaraderie that existed in them.

Agreed. As a near 50 year old, I have been going to gyms for 36 years. The independent gyms back then were WAY more friendly than the gyms of today. Yeah, I get a good workout in at Planet Fitness, but I can't name a single person there. Although I have since forgotten their names, 30 years ago I was on a first name (or nickname) basis with all the dudes and ladies who got to the gym early in the morning to get a session in before work or school.

Nothing like being in the gym. I love the energy & the sounds of the plates. From the fitness ladies to the swole dudes and everyone in between, it’s a great environment to learn, appreciate other’s physiques and develop yourself. Can’t lie tho … the first of the year resolutioners that come from Jan 1 to Feb 28 will make you change your training times to avoid the crowds but if their annual surge produces a couple few more regulars I’m good with that 🤣🤣

I have never gone to the gym, i did lose about 180 pounds when i was a teenager, i play drums for cardio and some bodyweight, as my intent isn't being as big as you or the good person in this video, but my experience or naive prejudice is that this is the exception, not the norm but yea i smiled.

I have never gone to the gym, i did lose about 180 pounds when i was a teenager, i play drums for cardio and some bodyweight, as my intent isn't being as big as you or the good person in this video, but my experience or naive prejudice is that this is the exception, not the norm but yea i smiled.
I never had someone compliment on my gains, I used to barely be able to do 1 pull up now I can do 20 I so badly wanna catch a compliment at the gym one day
