Welcome to Learn the Sky! My name is Janine, and I want to share my love of astronomy with you.
This channel is for anyone who wants to learn how to find the constellations, stars, and celestial objects in the night sky. I also like to mix some ancient mythological stories since it helps us to connect the past to the present. I am a self-taught stargazer that spent 12 years living on the Big Island of Hawai'i, which boasts some of the darkest skies in the world. Hawai'i is where I learned how to navigate the sky.
My day job includes being a middle school science teacher. I've taught just about every science, including astronomy, biology, marine science, geology, chemistry, physics, and human anatomy. I earned my BA in Environmental Biology and Geosciences from Lafayette College and my M.Ed. from Lehigh University. I also volunteer for NASA as a Solar System Ambassador.
My goal is to encourage you to go outside, view the stars, and share your experiences. Keep looking up!
