The ship is a cargo container ship, fully loaded, and impossible to stop at that distance. The ASL (automatic ship locator / GPS marker) doesn't show any anomalies, and shows the departure of the track at the exact moment that the 'mayday' is called. You can see the ship lose power (the ships lights go off), they broadcast the 'mayday' (audio is available on KZhead for that), the police department shuts down the bridge (audio is available on KZhead for that), the ship regains power and tries to stop the momentum of the ship (smoke seen emerging from the stacks but a ship like that cant stop on a dime), there were no 'dolphins' (concrete bollards protecting the bridge pilings, the ship strikes the bridge, the bridge falls. There was a work crew on the bridge that were not able to be notified that the collision was going to take place. The police had secured the bridge and were going to send the next responding Officer to notify the bridge work crew, but they didn't arrive in time (police audio available on KZhead is available for that). The ship has a maintenance log showing previous power train failures. Multiple factors led to the bridge collapse; no 'dolphins' protecting the bridge supports, no 'port pilots' (designated personnel guiding ships into and out of port), no escort tug boats, and outdated bridge construction led to this accidental tragedy. It wasn't an intentional act; the evidence does not indicate that.
Facts matter so much more than outrageous speculation. Everyone needs to watch the normal clip, not the sped up one. How funny that everyone ignored your post because it says what they do not want to hear.

This is what is wrong with our country, the inability to not educate ourselves more before jumping to conclusions. Their actions prior to the crash saved many, many, many lives since they were able to stop traffic moments before the impact.
