    • I agree. It was clear about Russians protesting mobilization mostly, with only a minority being opposed to the war. And to the depoliticised majority expecting the war to be quick and easy like Crimea. And of the way all of Ukraine military successes my paint Putin into a nuclear corner. All we can do is support Ukraine against a terrorist Russia and hope the price they pay for freedom isn't too horrific.

    • It's a proxy war that Putin was pressured and lured into by the US and UK. The US is the big beneficiary. It is a similar trajectory to Iraq - you will remember Saddam was made the villain of starting the war - lured by the US into moving into Iraq and then WMD lies. Exactly the same message was given each time - the US said they would not retaliate except for sanctions. The US aims to split Russia permanently from Europe, get hold of Russian oil and reduce Europe as a competitor. It has called for regime change in Russia from day one and intends to install a puppet government in Russia as it did in Ukraine 2014 , and to break up Russia. Now a regime change attempt is also being made in Iran. The US picks off country after country, relying on regional rivalries between states to prevent any multipolar bloc resisting them .

Then he a range of criticisms over the poor progress of the war and the fact that his troops were sent running by a country whom he believed he could take on without a problem. He needed some form of a win to come out of this, lest his political opponents used this as an opportunity to gain some leverage over him that would eventually remove him from power. So he organized the sham referendums, with the hope that this will boost morale within the public and hard-liners. Of course, he isn't out of the woods yet. Despite annexing these territories, Ukraine is retaking it bit by bit. So he threatened nuclear weapons, only to then get a response from the US and NATO - not one of fear or worry but a stark warning. Now Putin is stuck between a rock and a hard place. No one but North Korea recognizes his annexation, so Russia can't justify to them the use of nuclear weapons. And now he might have escalate the war for something he didn't initially plan to happen.

I'm from Canada, and winter (when the ground, lakes and rivers are frozen) is traditionally the time of year when mobility is easiest. Snow can simply be compacted to make a road. In much of Northern Canada, the only time of year you have land access is during the winter, because you can make snow and ice roads and easily cross over rivers, lakes and bogs. Spring is the worst time of year for mobility because of all the mud and high water table.

    • It will turn nuclear anyway. If Russia nukes Ukraine. NATO and the US takes out Russia in Crimea and around Ukraine. Putin will probably nuke UK and somewhere else in retaliation for that. The US and UK subs will then nuke Russia. It be more likely what will happen. So will end in nuclear war anyway. If Russia nukes Ukraine it can't go unanswered. But NATO shouldn't mess around. Just retaliate with nuclear weapons. A partial military engagement knocking out Russia troops in and around Ukraine and Crimea. Destroying Russia back sea fleet and air bases will only make Russia fire nukes in response. So if NATO is going to hit them just hit them with nuclear weapons and don't mess arround. They might get lucky and Russia might not be able to retaliate. If they do it like NATO and the US stated it will trigger a nuclear response from Russia anyway. But if they hit them first. Russia might not get that chances All this was predicted by a prophet Siener van Rensburg from South Africa. He quote: Russia will slide back into communism. During this time cold porage will be set on african table. Wheat disruption? It will be a fast and furious war mainly fought from the sky. With devastating rays unlike never seen. You will fight differently then we did but there will be more of you this time. The war will be won by the west with Germany becoming the economic and power. England all but destroyed and quote.

After all if nukes are used becasue Russia interprets attacks on its annexed portions as an attack on Russia, well Belgorod and Novgorod in fact even Moscow are now fair game from a Ukrainian perspective... are Russia planning on nuking parts of their own country too? I'm not sure Russia have considered this.... But there are no troops inside Russia right now... they are all posted to Ukraine... Russia is now defenseless for the most part. In fact the Russian Federation is at its weakest right now militarily as its been since the breakup of the USSR. If it emerged tomorrow that Russia had almost no nukes for whatever reason... corruption, kleptocracy, scams... whatever... then NATO and Ukraine would be over that border before you can throw Putin from an upstairs window!
