Bring the Heat: George Kennard makes an incalmo glass vase live

2024 ж. 18 Сәу.
2 268 525 Рет қаралды

Watch Master Glassmaker George Kennard create a decorative vase inspired by the flameworked glass of Kurt Wallstab. Using the incalmo technique, Kennard will combine various patterned and colored bubbles to create a piece drawing from the styling of Wallstab’s famous “Montage” works.
See the final piece starting at 1:57:57.
In our new live demo series, Bring the Heat, join us for a live stream of glass artists demonstrating their expertise and skillful execution while “in the zone.” During each demo, an artist will present a personal design they’ve worked to perfect, and they will be live on the mic to narrate as they work-a rarity for live artist demonstrations and a first at the Museum.

  • I loved seeing this as a child when we visited the plant. I still love my corningware. I wish they still made it. The glass they did there was awsome. I am happy that you are keeping this beautiful art alive.

  • I'm stunned! It's just a masterpiece! I never would have thought it was possible if I hadn't watched this video. It always seemed to me that such beauty is made on a conveyor simply by pouring multi-colored glass into molds. But I did not know how difficult and amazing the process is!

  • I find very few things more calming than watching highly skilled workers at their craft. In the Uk I used to regularly visit glassworks to watch. My favourite was always Langham Glass in Norfolk, UK.
