The Snake Catchers of Bangkok
Phinyo Pukphinyo has an ordinary job with a few extraordinary requirements. As a firefighter in Bangkok, he's not only expected to save people from burning buildings but also from slithering house guests. Recently, snakes have become an everyday sighting in Bangkok, and have begun to infiltrate residents’ daily lives. Pukphinyo says he is now spending more time catching snakes than going near flames. Luckily, he loves it.

The way he compared the fire fighting and catching snakes is great and so true. So brave man😀😀
Yep.
A Thai here Firefighters in Thailand are basically jacks of all trades. Had them burn down a hornet's nest once, which is ironic considering they should put out fires, not make them.
Jorn Tumrongwit Hellow fellow Thai person!
Ever hear of Farenheit 451? It's about a "fireman" whose job it is to start fires. Specifically, to burn dangerous literature.
Could be different in other states of the USA . But in Texas firefighters will come for a hornets nest if it's bad . (Pest control could take the call as well)they also do car accidents a lot . The jaws of life is a crazy cool tool. But if it can help that's when sit gets serious .
they are basically a pyro
😂😂😂
Was backpacking through Thailand and ended up on Koh Chang island. Decided to hike up the second highest peak one day-an all day venture. Around three hours into the climb I looked down. Either I immediately saw the practically bioluminescent snake that was six inches from my feet and THEN slipped, or I slipped trying to get away from it. In any case, I fell backwards as the lime-green coiled reptile remained motionless. After snapping a photograph-and counting my blessings-I proceeded whilst pondering the eerie inquiry, "How many snakes had I not seen?" Before I could nervously calculate-and within thirty seconds of walking-another snake, exactly the same as the first was smack-dab in the middle of the path. My paranoia immediately jumped to an ELEVEN. Fast forward two hours, and after having had reached the jungle peak, coming back down the same path there were both snakes. They had moved nary an inch. Rest of the return hike was uneventful aside from becoming slightly lost and traversing down a healthy-sized waterway adorned with no less than half a dozen waterfalls over the course of four kilometers. I'd made it back to civilization. Two days later after the excitement waned from ascending the jungle island's secluded overlook I finally looked up what kind of snake I'd seen-and nearly forced into protecting itself from my clumsy footwork: Pit Viper.
Nice essay
Cool story‼️
Its sad that this awesome channel gets very few views
Define "very few"
@@bluechipmunk1225 Under 100k or 200k views
@@bluechipmunk1225 You may think under 200k is a lot but it isn't great for a channel that has 3.4m subscribers.

they got 3.2 million subs this is hugh
The world needs more people like this man
And more snakes like those
I love snakes and I’m glad they catch them rather than the other option.

@@vinnie4538 If it's venomous snake it'll go to a zoo or a shelter instead. I'm thai and we hardly ever kill a snake in the city(they eat a cobra in countryside tho, sometimes). People around me tend to care more about well being of a snake rather than just want to kill them. (But it's a bit annoying(and terrifying) when you found a king cobra in your toilet)
"Hello, Bangkok fire department, how can I help you?" "ARGH! A snake! A snake! Oooh, it's a snaaaaake!"
3:13 that aunty tho😂
Snake like *"Why you bullin me"*
S1mple huh
All of these snakes were absolutely stunning. So beautiful. I am glad they are being rescued and educated on.
Especially this one at 0:51
This is such a heartwarming documentary. Finding genuine happiness can truly be only be found by the eyes of those who wanted it. Thank you Great Big Story.
This is very amazing thank you for sharing, love his strory and his dedication, have to agree that catching the snakes and releasing would be the better of the two than fighting fires and with that comes so much loss!!!
I really respect this channel for bringing out these amazing stories!! Please never stop the good work!! Loads of love!! XOXOXO
Simply fantastic again. Thanks a lot for making taping editing uploading and sharing.
Is anyone else on a GBS binge during quarantine? I'm enjoying these so much
While watching this I look over to my snake's tank...and he's sitting on his hide watching me. It's feeding day tomorrow and I think he knows it. By the way, he's a little checkered garter snake named Nettle.
Heroes don't wear capes they just calmly put snakes in a better place with passion and determination.
Snakes are one of my favorite animals so I'm so glad that there are people out there who proactively educate the public and treat these animals with respect. If anyone is actually curious about snakes and other reptiles, there's a whole community out there to learn from! My personal favorite channels on KZhead include Chandler's Wild Life and GoHerping
Love how nonchalant he is about spending two and a half months in the hospital
The woman 3:10 is me When I see a little spider
Gotta love that Vivavldi at the beginning
treating every animal as a living being and not killing - let alone unnecessarily, is commendable. I believe that such act will go a long way in cultivating a more humane heart, love and compassion toward people around you and beyond.
I love ❤️ this guys positivity 😀
His closing words are surprisingly powerful.
2:34 I feel like I'm watching tender love story btwn man & snake. The romance energy is very strong.
Why the Vivaldi music at the beginning Edit: Thank you for not killing the snakes. Means a lot!
They gotta build that tension
These men are incredible 🔥🔥🔥🔥
He does what he loves and its payed for it #Lifegoals
Last part is the best!
I would love to hear the reactions of American fire fighters if this where to become part of their daily calls.
Such a strong person!
Love the videos
Cheers to these men from The US!
Great story
I'm Thais, and I will say that - asides from the news - a snake invading into someone's house is so common it's a normal things for a Thai firefighters to learn. Heck,a zogging python literally got stucked in my house's big water pipe once somehow and while it's a pain to rescue it,it's not really serious and we just laughs it off.
Great video
I respect this man.
I’m from Bangkok ,I got a python hiding in my kitchen once .my sister found it she freaked out and screamed like hell. I was the one remained calm and call firefighter to get rid of it.
That's the *real noodle cuntry i'm looking for. They even have living noodle catchers.
very good man 👍
I have a legit phobia of snakes but I love all animals. A couple of years ago I couldn’t even see a picture or video of a snake without feeling fear. I’ve been working on it and I just saw the whole video. I love that the snakes got a second chance at life. It’s not they’re fault we’re moving into their habitat. We all have to eat to survive...
Love the title of this video XD
3:12 - that reaction
Green Tree Pythons come from this part of Asia and I love having one, snakes are really funny animals
Got a catch them all *_-Pokémon-_*
I love my country.(Thailand)
0:12 When my teacher tells me I need work on a group project with people she picked herself.
I respect this guys cos they just catch the snake then let it go rather than killing it!!😌
how could I not watching this. and he catch them with bare hand.
this dude is rambo✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻top🚒
A fireghter talking to the phone while driving...curieux.
At the end I totally thought the snake was gonna jump and bite his face lol.
Bruh I respect them for doing this job cuz gah dang I hate snakes and they are creepy and scary Mad respect
April 9 was my bday. Also my year was the year of the snake. The odds of that
Wow! I wonder if they kill the venomous snakes or if they have any alternate recourse.
I hope they use them as captive milking snakes to develop anti-venom
We have a snake farm in Bangkok, operate by the Thai Red Cross Society. I believe they will take care of all the venomous snakes.
No they don’t. He also said he got bitten by a king python snake and he didn’t stop his job and missed the snakes!
Oh my gosh when I saw the massive lump in the python...😳
1:52 Okay, but what do they do to the venomous snakes? Just out of curiosity that's all.
Make serum outta them
he looks very close with that cobra, how cute
What a great man. Get rid of all the snakes please
wish we have snake catchers years ago. found 2 snakes. not sure the names but one is just 6 inches - pen size and one that is 1inch width that was around 3 feet. both found in side the house but the bigger one almost drop on top of my head as I was about to open my bedroom door, I was going to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and good thing I turned on the lights before I step forward when I heard something smack on the floor. Suprised finding a snake in front me, not sure but most likely non-venomous, I just used a cloth hanger to grab it and put it in a plastic bag and put it in our backyard. I was going to take care of it in the morning but it was able to get out because it was looking for a warm place as it was a cold night. There were multiple times a few small pythons were found in our neighborhood but someone was able to call an animal dept. wish we had cellphones then it would have been good mementos..
I had a friend in elementary tried to name a game that started with s she did shoots and ladders, and how we tried to correct her but it was a lost cause
"I miss snakes quite a lot" -says nobody ever

He's got balls of steel...
In Malaysia has a fire fighter like this guy...he died cuz of snake bite...he is kinda similar to this guy but malaysia version...RIP
And if the snakes are dead am I gonna call the Ghostbusters?
3:12 that lady is me
Heck
In stead of killing them, we should observe, study and learn from them. Some folks like to kill and destroy snakes for no good reason only because they're ignorant and don't understand them. They're amazing creature and extremely beneficial and part of our the ecosystem.
Firefighter here. That's a big ol nope from me!

If we had that many snakes in Louisiana the whole state would just be devoid of people, the snakes can have it
Ghost Butt I’ve lived in Bangkok all my life and I’ve never seen a snake. I don’t think there’s actually that many.
I would be very afraid to look at a cobra face to face from such a short distance, as these snakes can spit the venom and blind you...
wtf mate my friend literally made a documentary about the exact same person at the exact same place
I AM half thailand now i am in thailand Chiang mai

Just saying but by the way he talked, it seemed like he was given a script that was once English and then translated into Thai. The wording sounded somewhat "restricted" in Thai, while the english subtitle flowed naturally. Hhhhh sorry i like to ramble
not native but now that you say it it makes sense haha. except for the bit where he talks about getting bitten. it’s at least a series of questions, which would be pretty normal...?
Im a native speaker myself, and I speak like that when I'm nervous sometimes Maybe he's just nervous from being in an actual documentary
No, he wasn’t given any script. He said all these things on his own. It’s very hard to cut the subtitle because he barely left any space for us to work on. My colleague and I interviewed him. All in Thai.
@@Rynner oh cool
@Yoswin Freeman that's not nice
It already ATE a CAT !!!
What do they do with the snakes that aren’t beneficial to the environment though?
They could be pests, in which case it’s better to kill them
If they're invasive (i.e. an irresponsible owner released it), I would guess they bring it to a responsible rescue program or other reserves that may even use the venomous ones to produce anti-venom and other medicine.
He can make a pretty good side income selling these for soup
Danger noodles
Aww, poor snakes.
Count me out
Those snakes sure look dangerous. Wouldn't want to be around them.
As a Thai person myself. I have goddamn more than 10 snakes in my whole backyard.
Wonder how my mother would react to this🤔
Not that I’m happy with it, but in Jakarta we don’t have any problems with snakes, although we have some sewer rat problems and they’re incredible big
he releases snakes that ate the neighbor's cat?
