Tim Duncan can give you 30 pts 15rbs and 5 blocks without you realizing he dominated the whole game. He was absolutely incredible!
He always seemed like a sleeper. Being flashy gets you attention in the NBA but every time you look away and then check the box score he'd have like 10 more points than you remembered. Miss watching him
Yeah cuz he had other all stars hall of famers 😆
Left out the assists
@@user-oi1iq6tt4jHe had like 2 at most in his career. Robinson was past his prime by the time Tony and Manu got there. If you compare Tony and Manu to Shaq or Pau it's not even close.
@@gabrielcarrasco9078 he had David in his prime too he wasn't out just yet
Best 20 some odd years of my life as a fan. Tears in my eyes when I see all those wonderful memories. And now, Victor Wembanyama has been handed the torch here in San Antonio. And we look forward to new memories and honoring the old.
Kobe and Shaq had a conversation in 1999 after getting past the 1st round. Kobe: Are u ready? Shaq: For what? Kobe: This boy we're seeing in the next round. Shaq: Robinson? Kobe: Nah, the other one Shaq: He's soft Kobe: I've been watching him all year and he's a problem that you're going to have to deal with. Shaq sort of waved it off. The Lakers ended up getting swept and Duncan averaged like 30 pts in that series
And Phil Jackson still hasn't gotten over it.
@@boogiedahomey Phil did not coach the Lakers that season
Kobe knew before hand who will be the HOF. He read people that other's cant. And that is why his Legendary,
Kobie knew they both needed their powers to beat Jesus.
I know I remember my favorite championship team VERY clearly tattooed deep in my brain.
The 2014 Spurs played some of the most beautiful team basketball I've ever seen, and it all flowed thru Tim. Such a pleasure to watch his career, he was the epitome of talent and class.
Boris Diaw peaked in that moment
Spurs we're the reason Kobe had less rings than mj
@@greencross2861 And we love that fact. I'm even a Kobe fan, but obviously the Spurs come first. Hearing Kobe respond to the question of why he and Shaq didn't have more championships with, "The Spurs were tough," is such a sweet thing to hear.
You gotta give some props to Pop for assembling that team. They were mesmerizing to watch.
That was a magical season especially since they lost (should of won) in 2013
Born and raised in San Antonio. Tim and the squad provided so many great sports memories for the city. GSG
Tim Duncan is the reason I been a Spurs fan since 1999.
Same,him and manu
Me2
now u have wemby Spurs fans are spoiled generational talent right after the other same with kawhi
Same here!!
So do I
Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili were world class players, absolute Hall-of-famers, but we don't win 5 chips without Tim Duncan.
Man, I love TP and Manu, but we don't win a single chip without Duncan.
Man, TP and MG were great players, but no way are they HoF players without Timmy.
Tp and mg were talents but we wouldn't know who they were without Timmy😂
Neither would've tim without Manu and tony.
@@DissAeon I'm sorry. Wtf? Tim would have been Tim Duncan wherever he went. He made spurs what they are. He won without them and he won with them.
I love how humble Charles Barkley is
Tim Duncan is hands down one of the greatest of all time! Definitely a privilege to have seen him play.
The fact that he is in the conversation just reminds you of how good Barkley was at only 6’4”.
A fat monster😂
I thought he was 6 6 like Mike
@@jamesjensen5226no he's not 6'6
@@jamesjensen5226he’s listed at 6’6. Barkley is most likely 6’4.5 barefoot and an inch taller in shoes. So they just rounded him off to 6’6.
@@jamesjensen5226 Mike wasn’t a true 6’6” either. Barkley has said this.
That fade against the lakers is one of the craziest clutch shots in history that sadly never gets talked because of d fish.
You cannot catch ,turn and shoot in 0.4 seconds. Just saying......
@@jasonrodriguez7204correction, YOU can’t, he did.
But did he really...the refs didn't start the clock as soon as it touched him hands
@@jasonrodriguez7204as a spurs fan, it is what it is. Always what if. What if Manu doesn’t foul Dirk. What if we cover Ray Allen. In the end, it doesn’t matter, we had a great ride. And we made Lebron’s real estate agent a lot of money.
People forget he retired as the best defender in the league still. His last year he led everyone in defensive rating and it wasnt even that close. Insane.
"Oh, almost"- Tim Duncan
Tim Duncan n David Robinson together was a force
Yo Tim was that dude. It was truly to witness his greatness. He is one of a kind. Special player.
Great video man…I got chills reliving these moments….tim’s era was the greatest era of basketball for me. Now we got victor and can’t wait to see his career.
tim duncan can go toe to toe with prime shaq... and he sometimes won over prime shaq
People don't think or forget about Tim Duncan because he was never flashy. He was just straight basketball and I completely agree with Shaq. Ya, the Spurs had Parker and Ginobli, but they needed Tim Duncan to win those championships. Wouldn't be able to do it on there own. Plus, all of his accolades are crazy: 15x allstar, 15x all-nba, 15x all defense, 2 MVPs and 3 finals MVPs. His game spoke for itself
I agree. I would also be interested to see if the Spurs could have won some championships in an alternate universe where we had a prime David to play alongside Parker and Manu instead of Tim Duncan.
I was in san antonio when they won that first title with timmy. Man that city loves there team. They were rocking.
Old TD has a skill set and work ethic that puts 98% of players of any era to shame, coupled with humility, one hell of a player and man. David Robinsons tutelage didnt hurt either.
Timmy never really spoke out loud about his work ethic or really anything like Kobe did. So Kobe’s Mamba Mentality gets praised so much when Tim Duncan is over here being a silent assassin. Tim was a player that would also take things personally on the court and dominate them like he did with Demarcus Cousins. KG hated that he could never get in Timmy’s head. What other hall of fame top 10 players favorite thing outside of basketball is Dungeons and Dragons😂 and Tim didn’t even start playing organized basketball until he was 14.
What a blessing to see it all since a kid GO SPURS GO SAN ANTONIO TEXAS BABY‼️🔥💯
TD is the best power forward in history, but he is still the most underrated legend ever.
Absolutely not. I'll put his folder against anyone else's ever. And it'll measure up. Accolades + Championships = Excellence
@@jonlogan3268and yet he still gets underrated
My only controversy I've heard about Duncan is was a PF or a C
@@joserios991he was a Pf/C depending on the personnel on the court. He would be a PF when paired with another big like Tiago splitter, David Robinson or he would be the C when they went small ball with Boris Diaw or Malik rose as PF.
@@Matt-du7xu I know he is a hall of famer lol
I loved watching every minute of the Big fundamental performance 🔥👍🏽
No one else could put it off the backboard like Tim
Great video. Tim Duncan was my kind of player. No flash about him. Just amazing fundamental solid play. He was driving force of that Spurs' dynasty and he deserves all the accolades he gets. In my opinion, he is the greatest power forward of all time.
Yes to everything you said!
and the best thing is... duncan possess what mj, kobe, and lebron never had upon retirement... a head full of hair... truly the 🐐 PF
Duncan has a smoothness to his game that was fearless. Spent his entire career with one franchise is also incredible.
Duncan has always been in my top 5 since his early years. Humble, cool, silent assassin.
Boring and not even top 5
Timmy is in my TOP 3 ALL TIME!
My #2 after MJ
@@user-oi1iq6tt4jhe dominated your favorite team and players. Humble yourself, easily Top 5
@@JefeJrisco Shawn Kemp was way better and so were Charles n Malone prime shit nowitzki too Duncan soft and had great teams overall
He was so good defensively for so long that during his last season, the Spurs' defense was +10 when he was on the floor.
Yeah, I can’t believe he didn’t win multiple DPOY awards, or even one?! Voters felt MVPs and Finals mvp’s and chips was enough for ole Timmy I guess. Ha. Def was 100
As i Grow older i have come to admire so much the basics, the fundamentals, and Shaq was on point with the nickname. had the privilege to watch Tim play and he was smooth, did not overexert himself and had great back up on his team mates.
Tim Duncan is one of a kind. Not flashy ,silent but reliable. A true leader for the Spurs during his era. Amazing.
Being 7 feet tall helps alot. Used his size as well as any big I've ever seen. Great shotblocker, great leader, great champion.
Timmy D is literally my favorite basketball player of all time!! Literally was the first to show me you don’t have to be flashy to be dominant..
Chuck was not about to allow Dan Patrick to sit there and say the he was better than Timmy at anything. It’s crazy to see how players talk about other players that they truly respect when they don’t let their ego get involved🙏🏾
Literally, so much respect, chuck out of all people
@@dafish5717Charles has always been very honest lol
I miss watching him play. Dude gave us some great memories.
I loved Tim and David!! I stopped watching after hs (‘05) so I think I forgot that he beat the cavs for his last championship. Makes my heart sing. His humility just drives the point home.
He won one more in 2014
@@kennethmcinnerney4990 that’s great! I was very out of the loop by then.
99,03,05….07&14!! Two after 05! He was the best
I always like players who can do it all Duncan, Pippen, Barkley and Webber.
Any Tim Duncan content is an instant like!!! Best basketball content on the internet right here!
I liked that he was humble, and team player. Also no scandals or lawsuits surrounding him. Great guy he seemed always.
Duncan is easily the greatest power forward of all time, and if he was classified as a center, he would still be a top 10 player at that position as well.
I don't think he is better than prime Malone but Malone has an image problem because he is a scumbag so this narrative has to be pushed.
Top 5
@@David-ot8wp no
@@hakeemolajuwon4352he’s arguably above Hakeem all time so yeah.
@@nikobaladad2963 not if you know the game of basketball
I been a Spurs fan since 89 and we always had a pretty good team but in 96 we had our worse season ever. We got Timmy the next year. Im so grateful we got him because he gave me sheer pleasure for dam near 20 years. He was a instant sensation. After we loss to Utah in the playoffs i knew then we was a championship contender and when we won in 1999. Its been a championship mindset every year. Do you know how good that feels to have a team that good for almost 20 years expecting nba title every year? A feeling that i haven't felt in a while now. Usually if your team is ok your just hoping they can make it out the first round or past this team. With the Spurs and Duncan i was expecting nothing less then a nba championship. We got 5 in about 17 years with Duncan. Probably should have won 7 or 8 but hey ill take it. Anyway Duncan will always be the best power forward in my era 😊
Beautifully said!!
We tanked in 96. Of course it was our worst year. David wanted to retire then.
This is what I tell kids who were making fun of the Spurs for being bad the past couple of seasons. I would always ask them, "Do you have any idea what it feels like to be the winningest franchise in the NBA for twenty years? That buys you a lot of loyalty with your fans." Really, only the Patriots and Yankees know what that feels like. And the Yankees haven't been in that territory for a long time. And they just do things the right way. Man, I love the Spurs.
Love you timmy
Gotta love Charles Barkley. So humble and quick to recognize greatness
With no hesitation
Say what you want about Chuck, he's a real one. And wiser than he seems. His early "I'm not a role-model" stance should have caught on more.
The best interview/story about Duncan ever is the KG on All the Smoke (I think) about talking trash. Hilarious
It's so wild to hear people say Duncan got carried and he's overrated and all that when almost no player seems to agree. When players talk up LeBron it can sound like an agenda is being perpetuated but with Timmy it seems like they know he's underrated and are tryna correct it 😂
Anyone who insinuates that Duncan was carried/overrated or whatever, usually has a huge agenda that they want to push. Watch out for these people, they usually have some outlandish clown 🤡 takes, and they're usually not hard to recognize, e.g. Gilbert Arenas, various Internet trolls
They're just hating because their teams aren't running around with five rings on their fingers 😅
@@aedaed3605 I would say he got carried for his last ring. You can't tell me he was the force behind that chip. He was a nice complementary piece.
Its just Laker/Kobe fans that discredit Duncan, they do the same thing about shaq to try to elevate kobe over him even tho shaq was clearly the best player when they played together, and also discredit LBJ
@wendelleasports I've always thought they were Kobe stans myself, with the way they genuflect before their Lord and master 😂 But lately with the concerted amount of effort to discredit almost seemingly anyone who's won anything, I'm not sure 😂 Could still be them though, they're not the sharpest tools in the shed
Great video, Sean, Duncan was a lot of fun to watch, as odd as that sounds. I remember one play where he was about 10 feet from the hoop and a rebound bounced out to him. He took the ball in the air with one hand and flipped it to Boris Diaw under the rim for an easy 2. It wasn't a spectacular play in the way that we often think of, but it was just soooooo smart, so heads up. It achieved that magical feat of being spectacular without being spectacular. And I remember thinking at the time that Bill Russell probably loved that play more than anyone else who saw it. As for Steve Kerr's statement that Duncan was the best two-way player? Well, if Kerr meant for the bigs, I'd say that Olajuwon and Chamberlain might have something to say about THAT, but Duncan is definitly up there.
Duncan was very entertaining to watch imo! He didn't have flash, but his footwork and iQ was absolutely something to watch
Duncan had a fantastic mid range shot. His form was so good that it is impossible not to believe that, had he played in the “stretch 4” era, he would have had a reliable 3 point shot.
He was able to hit a 3 on the clutch one time, so yeah, the potential was there
He is so nice and humble when you meet him in public around San Antonio.
Thank you for making a video on my favorite player of all time! Bro just kept his head down and was the best teammate ever. I’d actually say he’s just as interesting to watch as LeBron, if not more, because he was always so shifty and playing 3D chess
Agreed. Guys like Jordan, Dream and Duncan who were reading ahead of the game were and still are always a shock and awe experience in real time. I could never get excited watching James play or dominate, when I did or didn't want him to win. Too predictable.
I was fortunate enough to have Wake Forest basketball season tickets when Tim was a senior. It was pure joy watching him play. Truly a complete player and teammate.
Love these little deep dives, subscribed
Coach Pop played a huge role in the success of the Spurs.. Love Timmy and the Spurs!
Being in San Antonio in that time was amazing. I've never seen San Antonio so united. It was beautiful.
I can't believe you don't have even more subs. Best content and commentary.
I was never a basketball fan but living in San Antonio was amazing during this era. I miss the aura that the city had when TD was around.
I think Kerr had a great point...I tend to forget he was a great defender and that height made a difference even to people he wasn't guarding.
Great video!
Every game I hold on too the ball cross armed just like how Duncan would before every game, growing up 🤗 🏀
I was honored to watch Tim from his rookie year to his retirement...
Truly everything a basketball player should be, top to bottom. One of the greatest of all time, and my starting power forward.
The Spurs are irrelevant without Tim Duncan. Ginobili and Parker are not taking the Spurs past the 03' Lakers in the 2nd round T-Mac. Get it through your head.
Right, but you can say that for any champion. Take away the best player and they won't beat another team with their best player. The question is could you replace him with a Garnett, Dirk, or Webber and still win. I think yes.
You obviously never watch the San Antonio spurs
Don't think Garnett offensively would have taken you there. Dirk maybe.
@@kevoncoxdirk maybe could’ve, but I don’t think so. Duncan was a 5 tool player, and an unselfish 5 tool player at that. He had incredible defense, rebounding, and played well in pick and roll, played perfectly on the low block, didn’t need the ball in his hands 24/7 to make an impact was a good mid range shooter, could block shots and had an unlimited post bag. He’s criminally underrated, and genuinely I think that no one would’ve been able to replace him I think if you put dirk on that team he would’ve brought more scoring yes but it would’ve taken away shots from Tony Parker, manu and everyone else. Plus dirk wasn’t as impactful on defense as Tim Duncan was. KG was fantastic on defense, and rebounding, but I don’t think he had as deep of a post bag as Duncan did and wasn’t as patient as Duncan was, and I don’t think that spurs system would’ve worked as well with KG there either.
The 🐐 PF
My opinion Duncan is the GOAT 🐐
Nice vid!!! Tim is the greatest pf ever
When I see Tim Duncan I'm always reminded of the saying "All dogs think they are the alpha until they meet a wolf"
Yeah true big man
I love Sir Charles Barkley so humble and honest.
Definitely my favorite player
I'm thankful I'm old enough to have followed basketball since the early 80's. But to watch Duncan and what he brought to the game was spectacular... As a Celtics fan, you couldn't help to watch the simplicity yet ruthlessness Tim had... and stayed HUMBLE. Great content, Brother... I love all your vids!!!
Great video! Timmy is top 4 all time!
My all-time PF and Center would be Duncan and Olajuwon. They would be interchangeable and they are the two post players that could do it all in any era. Defense, Scoring, Rebounding, foot work, quickness, shooting, etc. The best all-around post players to ever play.
I remember when Duncan, as a college player, went up against Dream Team 2, in an exhibition game. He was freaking impressive, just about the best player on the floor. I shat my pants. KZhead that shit.
"YEA, TIM DUNCAN!"😂😂😂😂
My favorite Timmy story is KG talking about Timmy's trash talk
*Subscribed.*
The Big Fundamental was truly great in what he did on the court... I'm a SPURS fan ever since Elliott was drafted but Duncan was the steal of the draft and made what the SPURS who they were...
The man was just so pure in his game that you didn't even realize he had a wild stat line. There were so many games that I'd look up near the end of his game and he had like 30pt 15reb 7ast 2stl 6blk, and you say when did all that happen!
Respect to Charles for saying that big respect to Charles
Looking back at just how locked in Duncan was honestly I would have loved an alternate world where it was Kobe and Tim those two I honestly think would break any team mentally
Shaq is so right. I love Manu, respect Tony. But Timmy is a true superstar cuz everything revolved around him with no other superstars on his level. He also covers his team defensively. Lebron feared Tim Duncan. I honestly think he knows TD is a more dominant player than he is
That hook shot from behind the backboard was nasty
2003 Duncan is probably one of the most dominant playoff runs I’ve seen you just have to see it to believe it.
Tim Duncan is the Goat!!! Greatest power forward ever!!!!
Don’t forget Tim’s Psychology major. He definitively put that into play. 🧘🏾♂️🧠🏀
6:02 sounds like classic TD 🤣
He killed the Lakers in that sweep
A great era to be alive in san antonio!! I took that era for granted, but wont do it with wemby!
The Barry Sanders of the nba
I started following him at Wake Forrest. A
"That was really good defense man, i was just able to get to my third move" lol Duncan was a menace.
Nah, any Spurs fan would Amit it. Pop too. Duncan carried it start to finish. They were all great, but there was only 1 Duncan
Duncan is clutch. Think he made all his clutch shots except the one layup against Heat in 2013. Stats crazy
Tim Duncan is an anchor on both ends. His size and skill alone gives the offense the ability to generate higher percentage shots and also prevent them on the other end.
Laker fan here Tim Duncan was Me Fundamental. The thug. Is he never rash talked people or was even known for being a heel. He would actually kill ypu with kindness in interviews. Because he was not flashy he did not get the love he deserved. He could be having a quiet game and before you know it, you look up and see he has 25 points 14 rebounds and 7 assists, with 2 blocked shots. He was also a very good free throw shooter for a big man shot at 70 percent. I felt bad when I read he got swindled out of his money. TD was always a classy guy.
Funny story. The summer in-between his first and 2nd year in S.A. He was shopping at the local mall here in San Marcos. My wife, then girlfriend, calls me to tell me he's there at the mall. She worked there as well. I got in my car and burned over as fast as I could arrive. Drive around until I see a small crowd outside of a store. Don't remember which store, I think it was Nike. I get off the car, walk up and he's walking out the door as I get close. I don't know what to say as he exits so the first thing that comes to my mind is..."Tim! Do you remember me?" He looks at me funny, and I say..."I was at one.of your games this year!" He laughs at I ask for an autograph. He signed the back of my shirt. I love telling this story to different fans of his I meet.
Tim duncan and michael jordan my favorite players of all time
Timmy!!!, can you do a breakdown on Charlotte GOAT Larry Johnson
15 all NBA. 15 all-defense. Five titles. Playoffs 19 for 19. Two time MVP. Three time Finals MVP. Third most playoff wins. 72% win pct. 8th all-time. 2nd most wins all-time. 2nd only to Kareem.
He didnt have to say that referee or Kevin Garnet a word he was that cold... BIG 210
Kerr also coached Tim Duncan. Well, he was in the Spurs coaching staff, but I'm not really sure anyone coached Tim in the NBA lol
Winningest NBA player of all time.
Depends how you measure that. Bill Russell with 11 rings in 13 seasons. But Duncan similar to Russell by some commentaries, doing whatever the team needed to get the W. Hence Spurs 18 straight winning seasons, did I get that right?
